Andrews Cove Campground Introduce
For local users seeking a more rustic and "primitive camping near me" experience, Andrews Cove Campground, located on Unicoi Turnpike in Helen, GA 30545, USA (reachable at (706) 754-6221 or +1 706-754-6221), offers a smaller and more relaxed setting. Situated near the popular Bavarian-themed town of Helen, Georgia, this campground provides easy access to both natural beauty and local attractions. The term "primitive campground" suggests that amenities might be more basic compared to developed campgrounds, focusing on a more natural and less structured camping experience for those looking to connect with the outdoors "near me."
According to a review from a real customer, Andrews Cove Campground is described as "Nice, primitive campground with easy access. Small and relaxing." This highlights two key features: its accessibility and its peaceful atmosphere. The reviewer also mentioned visiting Helen, GA, while camping here, indicating its convenient location relative to the town's attractions. For local users looking for a "camping near me" option that combines a natural setting with proximity to local points of interest, Andrews Cove Campground appears to be a good fit.
Another review provides more specific details about the campground's layout and suitability for different types of camping. It notes that Andrews Cove Campground has "10 spots (9 singles/1 double)" and is primarily a "primitive campground." This confirms the expectation of more basic amenities. The reviewer also points out that "only 1 or 2 spots could accommodate a small RV," suggesting that the campground is mostly geared towards tent camping or van camping. This is important information for local users searching for "camping near me" with larger vehicles. The observation that there is "No sign for entrance so it's easy to miss on the hairpin curve" is a practical tip for those planning a visit, emphasizing the need to be attentive when approaching the location.
The same review also comments on the campsites themselves, stating that "Sites are good sized, and fairly well spaced from each other, but most have room for only 1 vehicle." This suggests that while there is reasonable space and separation between sites, parking may be limited to one vehicle per site for most. This is a useful detail for local users planning to camp with multiple vehicles. The mention of "primitive campground" typically implies the absence of full hookups for RVs (water, electricity, sewer) and possibly more basic restroom facilities, if any.
The environment around Andrews Cove Campground, being near Helen, GA, is likely characterized by the scenic beauty of the North Georgia mountains. This region is known for its forests, rivers, and hiking opportunities. While the reviews don't explicitly detail the immediate surroundings of the campground, its proximity to Helen suggests access to the natural attractions of the area. For local users seeking "camping near me" with a blend of nature and access to a charming town, Andrews Cove Campground's location is advantageous.
In terms of services and features, as a primitive campground, Andrews Cove likely focuses on providing basic camping infrastructure rather than extensive amenities. This might include designated campsites, fire rings, and possibly vault toilets. Water sources might be limited or non-existent within the campground itself, requiring campers to bring their own or purify natural water sources if available and permitted. The "easy access" mentioned in one review suggests that the campground might be relatively straightforward to reach, despite the lack of prominent signage.
Promotional information is not provided in the reviews. Primitive campgrounds, especially those managed by public entities (which might be the case given the lack of commercial branding), typically do not have promotional offers. Any fees associated with camping at Andrews Cove would likely be standard for the area or managing authority. Local users interested in any potential fees or regulations should contact the provided phone numbers or check with the local forest service or parks department.
For local users seeking a "camping near me" experience that is more on the primitive side, offering a quieter and more natural setting with easy access to the surrounding area, Andrews Cove Campground near Helen, GA, is a viable option. Its smaller size (10 spots) contributes to a more relaxed atmosphere, primarily catering to tent and van campers, with limited accommodation for small RVs. The good spacing between sites is a plus, although parking may be limited. Be aware of the unmarked entrance on a hairpin curve. To get specific details about the amenities and any associated fees, contacting them directly at (706) 754-6221 would be beneficial.
If your ideal "camping near me" involves a more back-to-basics experience in a scenic location near Helen, GA, consider Andrews Cove Campground. Its small size and primitive nature promise a relaxing getaway with easy access to the attractions of the area.

Nice, primitive campground with easy access. Small and relaxing. We visited Helen, GA while camping here.

Aug 18, 2024 · Angela AdamsCute little place in a beautiful area! Right down the street from Helen. I enjoyed every second spent here.
Nov 16, 2024 · Holly DiazRestrooms are in dire need of attention. They are an extreme biohazard. The hand pump well was contaminated with E-Coli as of Memorial Day 23'. Boil water advisory was posted on a small sign next to the well. Some tent pads were very rocky and the others had washed out driveways. We stayed at spot 1 which was the best space of all, it had plenty of room to fit 2 vehicles and 2 tents as well as 2 lantern hooks and a useable fire ring. There's lots of heavy truck traffic during the day with frequent engine brake use. Things quiet down in the late evening but expect to be woken up bright and early. The location of site 1 and its tent pad also seem to line up with the road so that all of the headlights from passing cars will shine on your tent. This spot also seems to attract some very suspicious behavior from other visitors and could use some more oversight from the FS rangers. I've contacted the National Forest Service about this campground and hope they can restore it to an exceptional site. Andrew's Cove has tons of potential.
Jun 05, 2023 · Kevin Cowder$5 accomodations for $12.It's so close to the road you can hear traffic coming from a mile away. The outhouse is NOT maintained and is so dilapidated the hillsides are dotted with TP. Tent pads are about 8ft sq and are the only level areas at each spot. The honor pay box has a gap at the top that people mistakenly put their money in. Then, on Monday, thieves roll up and try to fish them out.
