Camp Shelly Reviews
Very nice campground. Clean and very good location. Restrooms with showers. We saw a bear on camp. Somebody left food on the table and made bear fun.

Aug 08, 2022 · Estela Georgina PlaceresCamp at your own risk if you are scared of bears. Black Bear encounters 2/3 nights. There was a bear family with 2 cubs. It was a cute /scary sight with nature. We stayed here for 3 nights over the weekend. Great place with hot showers and flushing toilets. Clean facility. Bring extra toilet papers, because at night the women's restroom ran out and was refilled the next morning. The campsites are close proximity to each other so be mindful if your group is large/loud at night past 10pm. My group and I were freaked out with our first bear encounter, we did not know how to act. Luckily a few of the campers near our site were helpful in showing us how to have the bears leave our campsite. The bears are looking for food, it did not cause us any harm. The bears would leave then come back. It would circle the campsites of the whole camp, so it never really left. Do not over-pack food that can't fit in your bear box. Bear box can fit two medium coolers and some small bags. The bears were frequently active at night, we had 5 encounters each night. Start dinner early, do not leave your food unattended, especially at night. Next time, I would do car camping here or RV since some of the campsites had RV access.Camp Shelly is an ideal location since it is only 5 min drive from most of the beaches. The park Rangers were also friendly.

Jul 25, 2021 · CARMEN SANCHEZSuch a beautiful place to take the family! The rangers were always readily available- even helped scare off a whole bear family from our site and from the grounds throughout the night. Ranger May was great! She even kept her cool and was a great host helping the crowd of eager children make ice-cream. - that could be harder than chasing off bears! Water easily accessible. Bathrooms aren't the tidiest but still great compared to most campsites. Bear boxes have ample space for a large cooler and so much more. Dish washing station was convenient and showers 🚿 great with WARM water and no extra fee!! Volleyball court, ping ping table, pavement for scooters/bikes, other activities planned by rangers for family. Quiet place to take family just the right amount of minutes away from the crowds. Can bike, walk, or drive to the beach. Hiking trails nearby. So much to do! Or just enjoy doing nothing. Absolutely wonderful!!!
