Based on recent reviews from enthusiastic campers, Pete's Lake Campground is consistently praised for its beauty and the overall quality of the camping experience it offers. One reviewer explicitly stated their agreement with all the positive feedback received and expressed their intention to return in 2025, underscoring the campground's appeal and the likelihood of repeat visits. This strong endorsement speaks volumes about the positive impressions left on those who have stayed at Pete's Lake Campground.
The campground is specifically described as a "great place for rustic camping." This suggests that while it may offer essential amenities, the focus is primarily on providing a natural and immersive outdoor experience. For those who appreciate the tranquility of a less developed setting, surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature, Pete's Lake Campground appears to be an ideal destination.
One of the standout features highlighted by multiple reviewers is the spaciousness of the campsites. The sites are described as "roomy" and "surrounded by trees," offering both ample space for setting up camp and a sense of privacy and immersion within the natural environment. The tree coverage likely provides shade and contributes to a more secluded and pleasant camping experience, further enhancing the rustic charm of the campground.
The camp hosts, Sara and Derrick, receive exceptional praise in one of the reviews, being described as "amazing hosts." Their dedication to ensuring a positive guest experience is evident in the reviewer's comments. They are noted for their availability to assist with any problems campers might encounter, as illustrated by their help with a battery issue. Furthermore, Sara and Derrick are described as "well versed in local knowledge," suggesting they can provide valuable insights and recommendations for exploring the surrounding area, enhancing the overall camping trip for visitors.
Another aspect that receives high marks is the cleanliness of the bathroom facilities. The reviewer specifically mentioned that the bathrooms were "super clean and didn’t smell," which is a significant factor in the comfort and overall satisfaction of campers. Maintaining clean and pleasant restroom facilities in a rustic camping environment demonstrates a commitment to guest comfort and hygiene.
The positive experience of one first-time visitor to Pete's Lake Campground is particularly noteworthy. They explicitly stated that their initial visit "certainly won’t be my last," and they extended their thanks to Sara and Derrick for making their stay such a great experience. This personal testimonial underscores the welcoming atmosphere and the positive impact of the camp hosts on the overall enjoyment of the campground.
However, one reviewer also brought up a concern regarding the enforcement of quiet hours. They expressed their hope that in the upcoming year (2025, as per the review), campers would be more respectful of the quiet hours rules by refraining from running generators after 10 pm. The reviewer noted that the hosts seemed "powerless to enforce the rule" during their stay. This suggests that while the hosts are well-intentioned and helpful, there might have been instances of noise disturbance from other campers, which could impact the peacefulness of the camping experience for some visitors. It is important for potential campers to be aware of this possibility and perhaps consider bringing earplugs if they are particularly sensitive to noise during quiet hours.
Despite this concern about noise, the overwhelming sentiment from the reviews is highly positive, focusing on the beauty of the campground, the spacious and well-situated campsites, the exceptional cleanliness of the facilities, and the outstanding service provided by the camp hosts.
For local users searching for "camping near me" that offers a rustic yet comfortable experience in a beautiful natural setting, Pete's Lake Campground appears to be an excellent choice. While specific details about the surrounding environment (e.g., proximity to lakes, hiking trails) are not provided in the reviews, the name "Pete's Lake Campground" strongly suggests the presence of a nearby lake, which could offer opportunities for swimming, fishing, or simply enjoying the waterfront scenery.
Given the information available, Pete's Lake Campground seems to prioritize a natural and peaceful camping experience, complemented by essential amenities like clean bathrooms and the invaluable support of dedicated camp hosts. Pete's Lake Campground Reviews
Beautiful campground. We agree with all the glowing compliments paid here, and we will return in 2025. We can only hope this year, campers respect the quiet hours rules by NOT running generators after 10 pm, since the hosts felt powerless to enforce the rule.
Mar 13, 2025 · Jim SpangenbergPete’s Lake Campground is a great place for rustic camping. The sites are roomy and surrounded by trees. The camp hosts, Sara and Derrick, are amazing hosts. They are available to help with any problem you may have (I had a battery issue) and are well versed in local knowledge! The bathrooms we super clean and didn’t smell. This was my first experience at Pete’s Lake but it certainly won’t be my last! Thanks Sara and Derrick for making my stay such a great experience!!
Aug 05, 2024 · Patty FFirst time here, hosts (Derrick and Sara) were exceptionally helpful and went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. Hope you are there next year! Bathrooms were very clean, best we have seen in a National Park even though it was a vault system. Site was awesome, lots of privacy and wonderful lake, kayaked for hours.Ralph and Shannon
Sep 22, 2024 · Ralph SukMy boyfriend and I stayed at site 7A over the Labor Day weekend. It was amazing and beautiful! Our site was a walk-in so it was a little more private and extremely spacious. There were no bugs either which we aren't sure if we got lucky or if it's always like that. I totally recommend this to anyone looking for a beautiful and peaceful place to stay. Only slight downside was our site was part of a trailhead which the signage can be a bit confusing so we did have people accidentally come onto our site a couple times thinking it was the trail. Maybe a little better signage would help? Otherwise absolutely love it, 10/10!
Sep 03, 2024 · Emma DalyWell taken care of. Cleanest vaulted bathrooms we've ever seen at a rustic campground. Lake is beautiful, great beach. Shore fishing is limited to the dock, otherwise you need a boat/yak/canoe. The general store isn't far, you can rent them there. 20 minutes from pictured rock.
