Cascade Peaks

4.0
This is a very large campground.. we stayed in the full hookup area, which was pretty empty except for the permanent residents that had obviously been there a very long time. The kids loved the playground and zip line! The staff was kind. There was a pretty well stocked store on site. All in all, we had a nice time, but there is definitely room for improvement at the campground.. it doesn’t look like the park has been maintained well throughout the years.. some big pot holes in the roads, we walked to the river, but trails were so overgrown we almost didn’t find it. The sites in the woods looked like they had a lot of overgrowth and low limbs - Kelly Schaule

Cascade Peaks Introduce

For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Randle, Washington area, Cascade Peaks Campground, located at 11519 US-12, Randle, WA 98377, USA, presents itself as a large campground with a variety of amenities. Based on recent customer reviews, it offers both positives, particularly for families, and areas where improvement may be needed. If you are considering a camping destination with full hookups and recreational features, Cascade Peaks warrants a closer look, keeping in mind the feedback regarding maintenance and dust.

The environment of Cascade Peaks Campground is described as "very large," suggesting ample space and numerous campsites. The campground offers a "full hookup area," which, according to one reviewer, was "pretty empty except for the permanent residents that had obviously been there a very long time." This might indicate availability in the full hookup section, but also suggests a potentially established long-term community within the campground. The presence of "monstrous trees" mentioned in a previous review for a different campground in the area (while not directly stated for Cascade Peaks, the general region is known for its significant tree cover) could contribute to a natural setting, although one reviewer noted "overgrowth and low limbs" in the wooded sites, which might impact usability or aesthetics.

In terms of services, Cascade Peaks Campground offers some notable conveniences. A "pretty well stocked store on site" is a significant advantage, allowing campers to purchase essentials without leaving the premises. The staff is reported to be "kind" and the office staff is described as "nice," indicating a positive interaction with campground personnel. For those requiring them, full hookups are available in at least one section of the campground. However, one significant drawback mentioned by a reviewer is the condition of the "laundry room," which was described as "so dirty" that the reviewer chose not to use it. This suggests that the maintenance of some facilities may be lacking.

The features of Cascade Peaks Campground that stand out, particularly for families with children, are the "playground" and the "zip line," which were enjoyed by the kids of one reviewer. These recreational amenities can be a major draw for those traveling with children, providing entertainment and opportunities for active play. Access to a river is also mentioned, although the trails leading to it were reportedly "so overgrown" that they were difficult to find. This lack of trail maintenance could limit the enjoyment of this natural feature. Another feature, or rather a potential issue, is the ability for campers to "pick your own spot, as long as it's available," which could be seen as a benefit for flexibility but might also lead to less organized site allocation.

A significant concern raised by multiple reviewers is the overall maintenance of the campground. One reviewer stated, "it doesn’t look like the park has been maintained well throughout the years," citing "big pot holes in the roads" as a specific example. The overgrowth and low limbs in the wooded sites also point to a need for better upkeep of the camping areas. Another issue highlighted is "the dust from the roads," which was problematic for one reviewer, suggesting that dust control measures might be insufficient. The need for "updating" of "a lot of the amenities" was also mentioned, further indicating that the campground may be showing its age.

Despite these maintenance concerns, one reviewer did note that the area was "nice, quiet," which could be a significant draw for those seeking a peaceful camping experience away from busier locations. Additionally, another reviewer mentioned meeting "some really neat people there," suggesting a potentially friendly and social atmosphere among some of the campers.

Currently, no specific promotional information for Cascade Peaks Campground is available in the provided reviews. Local users interested in potential discounts for local residents, off-season rates, or any special offers should contact the campground directly using the provided phone number, (509) 823-5884 or +1 509-823-5884. Inquiring about current rates for different types of campsites (full hookup, wooded, etc.) and any additional fees would also be advisable when calling.

To summarize, Cascade Peaks Campground near Randle, WA, is a large facility that offers full hookup sites and recreational features like a playground and zip line, making it potentially attractive for families. It also has a store on-site and is located in a reportedly quiet area with river access. However, potential campers should be aware of the concerns raised in the reviews regarding the maintenance of roads, trails, wooded campsites, and amenities like the laundry room. Dust from the roads is also noted as an issue. While the staff is described as kind and the office staff as nice, the overall upkeep of the campground appears to be an area for improvement.

For local users considering Cascade Peaks for their "camping near me" needs, it would be prudent to weigh the positives (size, full hookups, kid-friendly features, quiet location, store) against the negatives (maintenance issues, overgrown areas, dust, dirty laundry room). Depending on individual priorities and tolerance for these drawbacks, Cascade Peaks might still be a viable option, especially if the recreational features for children are a high priority. However, it would be wise to call ahead to inquire about the current conditions of the facilities and any recent improvements that might have been made. Additionally, asking about specific campsite availability and any relevant policies or guidelines would ensure a more informed decision.

In conclusion, Cascade Peaks Campground offers a large camping area with some appealing features, particularly for families. However, the feedback regarding maintenance and dust suggests that potential visitors should be prepared for conditions that may not meet the standards of a more meticulously maintained campground. Direct communication with Cascade Peaks using the provided phone number is recommended to obtain the most current information and make an informed decision based on your specific camping needs and expectations.
