Casual Country Campground Introduce
For local users in the Whitehouse, Ohio area searching for "camping near me," Casual Country Campground, located at 8664 Yawberg Rd, presents itself as a potential option. Recent reviews offer a mixed perspective on this campground, highlighting both positive aspects, such as the friendly welcome, and significant drawbacks concerning the site conditions and amenities. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview based on the available feedback to help local users make an informed decision about whether Casual Country Campground suits their needs.
A Setting with Drainage Challenges: The Environment
One reviewer described Casual Country Campground as "quiet and beautiful," suggesting that the natural setting has some inherent appeal. However, this positive initial impression is countered by a significant environmental concern: the tendency for the sites to retain water. The reviewer explicitly stated that "the sites are in areas that retain water so it's muddy when it rains and there's no gravel for parking at our site." This lack of proper drainage and gravel can lead to uncomfortable and messy conditions, particularly during or after periods of rain, making it difficult to keep RVs and belongings clean and potentially causing issues with traction and stability.
Another environmental factor mentioned is the presence of well water. While well water can be a natural and sustainable source, the specific well water at Casual Country Campground is described as having a significant issue. The reviewer noted, "The water is well water so you better have a strong stomach. It smells like boiled eggs really bad 👎 😕 😩..." This strong sulfur-like odor can be unpleasant for drinking, showering, and general use, potentially impacting the overall comfort of the stay. This is a crucial factor for potential visitors to consider, especially for longer stays.
The mention of a "pretty fishing/swimming pond out front" by a more positive reviewer suggests the presence of a water feature that could be an attractive amenity. However, this is directly contradicted by the second reviewer who states, "No swimming in the pond either." This discrepancy or change in policy/condition is important for potential visitors to clarify if they are interested in swimming.
Mixed Feedback on Services and Amenities
The reviews offer contrasting views on the services and amenities at Casual Country Campground. One positive experience highlights the friendly welcome: "Super friendly and well kept... Everyone made it a point to welcome us." This suggests that the campground staff or community fosters a welcoming and hospitable environment, which can be a significant positive aspect of any camping experience.
The invitation to "all you can eat pancakes" further illustrates this friendly and community-oriented atmosphere, indicating a potential for social interaction and a welcoming attitude towards guests, even those who are last-minute arrivals.
However, the second, more critical review raises significant concerns about essential amenities. The "bath house" is described as having "hot water" according to signage, but the reviewer found that it "most definitely only gets Luke warm, if even that." Inconsistent or inadequate hot water in showers can be a major inconvenience, especially during cooler weather.
Furthermore, a significant amenity, "The pool," is reported to be "down and will remain down for at least another year." The unavailability of a swimming pool can be a major disappointment for families and individuals looking for on-site recreational activities, particularly during the warmer months. The extended timeframe for the pool's closure suggests a potentially long-term issue.
The lack of gravel at the campsites, as mentioned earlier, also impacts the functionality and cleanliness of the sites, particularly in wet conditions.
The fact that the second reviewer felt compelled to "tough it out" for an entire month due to a "no refund policy" is a critical piece of information for potential long-term stayers. Understanding the refund policy before committing to an extended period is essential.
Welcoming Atmosphere Contrasted with Facility Issues: Features
The standout positive feature of Casual Country Campground appears to be the friendliness and welcoming nature of the owners or community. The invitation to a pancake breakfast and the effort to make newcomers feel welcome suggest a strong sense of hospitality.
The presence of a "fishing/swimming pond" could be considered a feature, but its usability for swimming is currently in question based on the conflicting reviews. Fishing may still be an option, as one reviewer mentioned the pond without commenting on its suitability for fishing.
The proximity to the Whitehouse, OH area offers access to local conveniences and attractions, although these are not detailed in the reviews.
The negative features include the muddy campsites without gravel, the poor quality of the well water (smell of boiled eggs), the unreliable lukewarm showers, and the closed swimming pool. These significant drawbacks may outweigh the positive aspects for many potential campers, especially those seeking a comfortable and amenity-rich experience.
The lack of a clear refund policy, particularly for longer stays, is another important feature to be aware of before booking.
No Mention of Promotions: Promotional Information
The provided reviews do not mention any specific promotional offers or discounts for Casual Country Campground. Local users interested in potential deals or special rates will need to contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers: (419) 877-7822 or +1 419-877-7822. Inquiring about daily, weekly, and monthly rates, as well as any current promotions, would be advisable before making a reservation.
It would also be prudent to ask about the current status of the swimming pool and to seek clarification on the policy regarding swimming in the pond. Additionally, inquiring about any measures being taken to address the well water odor and the drainage issues at the campsites would be beneficial.
Given the mixed feedback, directly communicating with the campground management is crucial to obtain the most up-to-date information and to assess whether the current conditions and offerings meet your expectations.
A Campground with Potential but Current Challenges: In Conclusion
For local users searching for "camping near me" near Whitehouse, OH, Casual Country Campground at 8664 Yawberg Rd presents a complex picture based on recent reviews. While the campground is praised for its super friendly welcome and community atmosphere, significant concerns are raised regarding the muddy campsites without gravel, the unpleasant smell of the well water, the unreliable lukewarm showers, and the long-term closure of the swimming pool. The discrepancy regarding swimming in the pond also warrants clarification. Potential campers should weigh the positive aspects of the welcoming community against the significant drawbacks related to the site conditions and amenities. It is highly recommended to contact Casual Country Campground directly to inquire about the current status of all facilities, any ongoing efforts to address the noted issues, and their refund policy before making a reservation, especially for an extended stay. Proceed with caution and ensure that the current reality of Casual Country Campground aligns with your camping expectations.

Casual Country Campground Reviews
First time there Friday, we called last minute and they had a spot! Super friendly and well kept, We were invited to all you can eat pancakes the next morning and we went. Everyone made it a point to welcome us. We really liked it here and will definitely be back! Thank you so much for the warm welcome and all the thoughtfulness.
Jun 16, 2024 · Kara StriblingMy family and I travel for a living so we stay in rv parks across the nation. This place is quiet and beautiful, but the sites are in areas that retain water so it's muddy when it rains and there's no gravel for parking at our site. The water is well water so you better have a strong stomach. It smells like boiled eggs really bad 👎 😕 😩... The bath house says it has hot water but most definitely only gets Luke warm, if even that. The pool is down and will remain down for at least another year. No swimming in the pond either. I wish I would have known all of these things before paying for an entire month. Looks like we will tough it out, as theres no refund policy. Definitely won't stay for a second month. The people are nice though. It just seems this place has seen some better days.
Jul 05, 2024 · Jeremy KingWell from when I was there a few years ago everything went smoothly bathrooms were kept up playgrounds were cleaned and it just was a lot going on. Now everything is getting neglected and it just ain't the same love and care at that place. It's sad to see so many people that you created a relationship with has up and moved out of there things have got to shappin up there or there is going to be a lot more moving out. Sad
May 30, 2023 · Joshua StoopsMy family has been camping here for 24 years. The owner does a phenomenal job running the place; it is kept clean, family friendly, and has a lot of activities to do, especially for kids. The people are friendly, and the location is good - if you need anything from in town you will only need to go about 5-10mins away, however the campground store should have the essentials. Weekend and guest prices arent bad. This is the best campground I've been to.
Sep 12, 2020 · Suzzanne TannerWe have been campers here for 18yrs, new owners ARE HORRIBLE. Zero communication & always give the run around. We pulled our camper out to sell it & before we could pay the deposit for next year, they placed someone else on our lot without communicating with US on our return for next season. Plus they doubled the price of lot rent. We still had the lot til the end of October and our personal items we were thrown out. Prayers to anyone that does business with these people.
