Cedar Campground

Watersmeet, MI 49969, USA

5.0
Cedar 1 and 2 are nice campsites with seperate landings. The current map location on Google Maps is incorrect. See attached photo. Blue dot is the actual location of the campsite. Cedar 1 landing was very muddy when we were there. Decent walk up from the landing to the site. Very beautiful forest in this area and one of the nicest campsites I've ever stayed in. Worth the effort for sure. Cedar 2 is better for swimming. - Brian Drummy

Cedar Campground Introduce

For local users in Michigan and the surrounding Great Lakes region seeking a "camping near me" experience immersed in the beauty of a northern forest, Cedar Campground near Watersmeet, MI 49969, USA, offers a promising retreat. While the provided information is based on limited customer feedback, it highlights key aspects of the environment and features of at least two specific campsites, Cedar 1 and Cedar 2, suggesting a natural and potentially rewarding camping destination.

The environment surrounding Cedar Campground is described as a "very beautiful forest," indicating a setting rich in natural woodland scenery. Watersmeet, located in the western Upper Peninsula of Michigan, is known for its extensive forests, numerous lakes, and rivers, making it a prime location for outdoor enthusiasts. Local users searching for "camping near me" who appreciate the tranquility and beauty of a forest setting will likely find Cedar Campground appealing. The mention of "separate landings" for Cedar 1 and Cedar 2 suggests proximity to a body of water, likely a lake or river, enhancing the natural appeal and offering potential for water-related activities. The fact that Cedar 2 is noted as "better for swimming" implies that at least one of the campsites provides good access for enjoying the water. Campers can anticipate being surrounded by the sights and sounds of a thriving forest ecosystem, offering opportunities for wildlife observation, nature walks, and a peaceful escape from more developed areas.

Based on the single customer review, the services at Cedar Campground appear to be somewhat rustic, focusing on the natural environment. The presence of "campsites with separate landings" suggests designated areas for setting up camp and accessing the water. While specific amenities like restrooms, water sources, or hookups are not mentioned, the emphasis on the natural beauty and the description of the individual campsites provide some insight into what to expect. The review notes a "decent walk up from the landing to the site" for Cedar 1, indicating that some physical effort might be required to access certain campsites. This suggests a more wilderness-oriented experience where the focus is on the natural setting rather than extensive facilities. For local users seeking a "camping near me" experience that prioritizes immersion in nature and are comfortable with potentially more primitive conditions, Cedar Campground could be a good fit.

The features of Cedar Campground, as described in the review, include the separate landings for accessing the water from campsites Cedar 1 and Cedar 2. This is a significant feature for those planning to bring boats, kayaks, or simply wanting easy access to the water's edge. The distinction that "Cedar 2 is better for swimming" suggests that the water access point for this site is more suitable for swimming activities, perhaps with a less muddy entry or a more gradual shoreline. The "very beautiful forest" itself is a primary feature, offering a scenic backdrop for camping and opportunities for exploration. The review also mentions that Cedar 1's landing was "very muddy" during the reviewer's visit, which is an important piece of information for potential campers to be aware of, especially if they plan to use the landing frequently. The "decent walk up from the landing to the site" for Cedar 1 is another feature to consider, as it might impact accessibility for some campers. Despite these potential drawbacks for Cedar 1, the reviewer still considered it "one of the nicest campsites I've ever stayed in," highlighting the strong appeal of the natural environment.

Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the review. However, the enthusiastic description of the "very beautiful forest" and the overall positive sentiment ("Worth the effort for sure") serve as strong implicit endorsements for Cedar Campground. The fact that a seasoned camper considered it "one of the nicest campsites I've ever stayed in" is a significant recommendation for local users seeking a high-quality "camping near me" experience in a natural setting. The specific mention of swimming access at Cedar 2 could also be seen as a promotional point for those interested in combining camping with water activities. The separate landings offer a degree of exclusivity and direct access to the water for those staying at these sites.

One crucial piece of information from the review is that "the current map location on Google Maps is incorrect." The reviewer advises to "See attached photo" (which, unfortunately, is not available to me as an AI) and notes that a "Blue dot is the actual location of the campsite." This is vital information for local users planning a visit to Cedar Campground. Relying on online maps alone could lead to frustration and wasted time. Therefore, it is imperative for potential campers to seek out the correct location information, possibly by contacting local authorities, other camping resources, or attempting to find updated online maps based on the reviewer's feedback. This discrepancy in location information serves as a cautionary note for those planning their "camping near me" trip to Cedar Campground.

To gain a more complete understanding of Cedar Campground, local users should attempt to find more information through online searches, local camping guides for the Watersmeet area, or by contacting local ranger stations or tourism offices. Inquiring about the availability of specific amenities, the types of campsites offered (beyond Cedar 1 and 2), and the correct location would be essential for planning a trip. Given the positive review despite the muddy landing at Cedar 1 and the walk to the site, the natural beauty of the area seems to be a significant draw. Understanding the terrain and accessibility of different campsites would help local users choose the best option for their needs.

In conclusion, Cedar Campground near Watersmeet, Michigan, appears to offer a "camping near me" experience characterized by a "very beautiful forest" setting and access to water via separate landings for campsites Cedar 1 and Cedar 2. While Cedar 1 may have a muddy landing and requires a walk up to the site, Cedar 2 is noted as being better for swimming. A critical piece of information is the incorrect location on Google Maps, urging potential visitors to seek the actual location (indicated by a blue dot in an unavailable photo). Despite these considerations, the positive review suggests that the natural beauty of the area makes the effort worthwhile for those seeking a forest camping experience in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Local residents of Michigan and neighboring states looking for a "camping near me" destination immersed in a beautiful forest setting with lake access should consider Cedar Campground near Watersmeet. The availability of separate landings and swimming at Cedar 2 are attractive features. However, be sure to verify the correct location of the campground due to inaccuracies on online maps and be prepared for potentially rustic conditions and varying accessibility to campsites. The reward, according to a satisfied camper, is a stay in one of the nicest campsites they've ever experienced, making it a potentially excellent choice for your next outdoor adventure.
