Chain O' Lakes Camping Resort Introduce
For local users in the Eagle River, Wisconsin area searching for "camping near me," Chain O' Lakes Camping Resort, located at 3165 Campground Rd, Eagle River, WI 54521, USA, offers a camping destination with a reputation for a friendly atmosphere and a location near the popular Chain O' Lakes. Based on recent customer reviews, the resort presents a generally positive experience, particularly for those with boats and those who value a welcoming environment. However, there are specific aspects regarding site selection and expectations that potential visitors should consider.
The environment of Chain O' Lakes Camping Resort is situated in the heart of the Chain O' Lakes region, known for its interconnected lakes, waterways, and natural beauty. This location provides ample opportunities for water-based activities such as boating, jet skiing, fishing, and potentially swimming, although the reviews do not explicitly detail swimming areas. The general area around Eagle River is characterized by forests and lakes, offering scenic views and a classic Northwoods ambiance. One reviewer mentioned that "the rest of the campground seems very nice," suggesting a well-maintained and pleasant overall environment beyond specific campsite locations. However, another reviewer's experience highlights the importance of site-specific views, noting that a reserved "waterfront site" (W1) did not offer a view of the water and was located in a busy area near the boat landing. This indicates that while the resort is near the water, not all sites offer direct water views or a tranquil waterfront experience. Local users prioritizing water views from their campsite should inquire very specifically about the location and view from potential sites when making reservations.
In terms of services, Chain O' Lakes Camping Resort appears to excel in customer relations. One reviewer expressed "a sincere thank you to the owners, specifically the lady owner," praising her helpfulness, kindness, and consideration, which made their stay "lovely." This personal touch and positive owner interaction suggest a commitment to guest satisfaction. The campground is also described as "family and pet friendly oriented," indicating that it likely offers services and amenities catering to these demographics. This could include pet-friendly policies, family-oriented activities, or playground areas, although these are not explicitly detailed. The presence of a boat landing suggests services related to watercraft, making it convenient for those looking to utilize the Chain O' Lakes for boating and other water sports. The fact that one reviewer noted the busy nature of the boat landing area (W1) implies that the resort facilitates access to the water for many guests. For specific services such as Wi-Fi availability, laundry facilities, shower and restroom conditions (beyond the positive owner interaction), local users should contact the resort directly using the provided phone numbers, (715) 479-6708 or +1 715-479-6708.
The features of Chain O' Lakes Camping Resort seem to cater to a variety of camping preferences. The availability of waterfront sites is advertised, although, as one review indicates, the definition of "waterfront" and the actual view can vary significantly by site. The presence of a boat landing is a key feature for those wishing to bring and use their boats on the Chain O' Lakes. The campground seems to have a mix of camping options, with one reviewer mentioning that "mostly seasonal" campers are present, suggesting a stable and perhaps friendly community within the resort. This could be a positive feature for those seeking a social camping environment. The pet-friendly orientation is another notable feature for campers traveling with animals. To understand the full range of features, such as the types of campsites available (e.g., tent, RV with hookups), the presence of fire pits, picnic tables, recreational areas, or planned activities, local users should inquire directly with the resort. It's also important to ask about site-specific details, especially when booking a "waterfront" site, to ensure it meets expectations regarding views and proximity to amenities or busy areas like the boat landing.
Promotional information is not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. Local users interested in any special offers, discounts for local residents, family packages, or seasonal rates should contact Chain O' Lakes Camping Resort directly using the provided phone numbers. It is common for campgrounds to offer different rates based on the time of year, the type of campsite, and the duration of stay. Inquiring about these details will provide the most accurate information on pricing and any available promotions. The resort's website or social media pages, if they exist, might also be sources of promotional information.
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Eagle River area, Chain O' Lakes Camping Resort offers a conveniently located option with direct access to the renowned Chain O' Lakes. The friendly ownership and pet-friendly policies are significant positives. The presence of a boat landing is a major draw for boating enthusiasts. However, the experience of one reviewer regarding a "waterfront site" with no water view and proximity to a busy boat landing highlights the critical importance of detailed inquiries about specific campsite locations before booking. The generally nice atmosphere of the rest of the campground and the friendly community of mostly seasonal campers suggest a pleasant overall environment. Local users should weigh the importance of waterfront views, proximity to amenities, and the level of activity they prefer when choosing a site. Direct communication with the resort will be key to ensuring a satisfactory camping experience.
In conclusion, Chain O' Lakes Camping Resort in Eagle River, WI, provides a local "camping near me" option with a friendly and family/pet-oriented atmosphere, and excellent access to the Chain O' Lakes via its boat landing. While the general environment is considered nice, the experience of one guest underscores the need for specific inquiries about campsite views and locations, especially when booking a "waterfront" site. Local users should contact the resort directly to understand the full range of services, features, and any potential promotions, as well as to ensure their chosen campsite meets their expectations regarding location and amenities.

Chain O' Lakes Camping Resort Reviews
We reserved a waterfront site. And upon arriving, there really isn't any such thing. We were put in W1, which is directly across from the boat landing. No view of the water from the campsite at all, and a very busy area with the boats, jet skis, etc. coming in and off the water. It is definitely not what we were expecting. A great spot if you are bringing your boat and want to be close to the landing. The rest of the campground seems very nice, friendly people, mostly seasonal.
Aug 27, 2024 · Pam HalvorsonI just wanted to say a sincere thank you to the owners, specifically the lady owner. She was so helpful and kind and considerate. She made our stay lovely. My husband and little girl loved their Father’s Day weekend getaway and we will be coming back to make more memories! What a great family and pet friendly oriented place.
Jun 20, 2024 · hannah millerHad a great 5 nights at this fun & family friendly campground! The owner is fantastic and she was very welcoming! My 3 girls loved her as well! The kids had a fantastic time playing "Ghost in the Graveyard" with all the new friends they met! After a 6 hour trip to get there, I was not dissappointed at all! Thank you for a great summer vacation!
Jul 27, 2024 · Michael RindtThis is my 1st time here, I'm with a group of 30 + people, I myself am a single girl in a tent in campsite 106, I came up a day earlier than my reservation at 10 pm, I called the resort on the way up to ask if this was ok from the phone call to getting to my site I am so very impressed so far they were there when I got here, delivered a couple bundles of wood to my site and generally concerned for my good time without worries of payment for my extra night until i made it up to the office whenever. The bathrooms / showers / hair & make up area are very nice too. Very great delivery service of wood to my site today. I'm liking this place so far.
Aug 09, 2024 · Tracy BaierlSo we own a camper business and like to travel to a different campgrounds and we always look at reviews first and pictures, if it has WiFi, and check out the amenities. It was reviewed well, between four and five stars, so we gave it a shot for a few nights. The bathrooms are absolutely filthy and the mop bucket of dirty water in the women’s bathroom didn’t move the entire three days that we were there. Some of the campers there are so old and gross that they should be removed. They advertised Wi-Fi but if you got beyond 30 feet of the office, it would not work. The store is very outdated and very minimal amount of items to choose from. The grass needed to be cut. There is so much cleaning up that needs to be done at this campground. Pretty much everything around that is built from wood needs to be stained or repainted , as it’s wearing off or has sections that are chipped off. The water is orange and I am not kidding you when I say orange. There is not a little bit of iron in the water. There is a ton. When we would run the water it would smell in our camper like iron , which we all know smells/tastes like blood…or maybe that’s the RN in me. We went through three cases of bottled water in three days because we could only cook with that and make coffee with that and drink that. Our brand new toilet is stained because of the water at this campground. We have scrubbed it so many times with so many different cleaning solutions and nothing is taking the stains out after being there for three days. Obviously their Septic is failing. There is just a lot of investments that need to be done at this campground and I don’t feel like they are going to be doing that. Not while we were there did we ever see a camp worker. On the plus side, the pool was decent, along with the playground, and that was about it. I am a very honest person being in this business and this is not a place we will ever return to nor recommend to anybody.
