Hi Pines Campground Introduce
If you're a local user in the Eagle River, Wisconsin area searching for "camping near me," Hi Pines Campground, located at 1919 US-45 N, Eagle River, WI 54521, USA, is one option to consider. You can reach them at (715) 479-9124 or their mobile number, +1 715-479-9124, for inquiries. Based on recent customer feedback available online, it appears that while the campground has some positive aspects, there are also areas where experiences have fallen short for some visitors.
One reviewer noted that the "Campground is nice and clean," which is certainly a positive attribute for any camping destination. Cleanliness contributes significantly to the comfort and overall enjoyment of a stay. This suggests that the management at Hi Pines Campground does pay attention to the upkeep of the grounds.
However, this same reviewer also shared a concerning experience regarding the availability of outdoor activities for children. They called ahead the weekend after Labor Day to confirm that outdoor activities would still be available for their kids, and they were assured that everything would remain up for the season. Despite this assurance, by midday on Saturday, the outdoor equipment that the children were actively using was removed. This discrepancy between the information provided and the actual situation led to disappointment for the reviewer.
Another significant point of feedback relates to the cost of firewood. One camper mentioned that their "firewood bill" was larger than the cost of their campsite itself, particularly as nighttime temperatures dropped into the 40s. They provided a picture of a stack of firewood that cost $30, with individual pieces priced at $1.25 each. This suggests that firewood at Hi Pines Campground might be considered expensive by some, especially for campers relying on it for warmth during cooler nights.
This same reviewer also reported that the "clubhouse" was closed over an hour earlier than the stated time on a Saturday without any notification to the campers. This early closure prevented them from ordering more firewood or accessing any other potential services offered at the clubhouse, leading to further disappointment, especially for a group of four family sites. The reviewer also described the staff as "pretty unwelcoming," which negatively impacted their overall experience and made them doubtful about returning.
Adding to the concerns, another long-term camper (10+ years) shared a negative experience regarding the campground's cancellation policy. They had an unexpected change of plans and provided 11 days' notice of cancellation. However, they were informed that no refund would be issued. The reviewer described the office manager as "awful to deal with" and warned others to "BEWARE of the fine print." They also alleged that the campground might "double dip" by rebooking the site without issuing a refund to the original booker, suggesting a lack of care for patrons. This camper also stated that despite having the option to move their dates, the manager canceled their reservation anyway, did not process a refund, and was no longer communicating with them. This poor customer service experience led to their decision not to return, along with a group of six other campers who visit twice a year.
Considering these recent reviews, local users searching for "camping near me" should be aware of a few potential drawbacks at Hi Pines Campground. While the grounds are noted to be clean, there seem to be issues regarding the reliability of information about activity availability, potentially high costs for firewood, unexpected early closures of facilities, and potentially unfavorable and poorly communicated cancellation policies, coupled with reports of unwelcoming staff and poor customer service.
Therefore, if you are considering Hi Pines Campground for your camping needs near Eagle River, WI, it would be prudent to inquire specifically about the availability of activities during your intended stay, clarify the pricing of firewood, and understand their cancellation policy in detail before booking. While the cleanliness of the grounds is a plus, the reported negative experiences regarding customer service and policy handling are important factors to take into account when making your decision about where to camp.
In conclusion, Hi Pines Campground offers a clean camping environment in the Eagle River area. However, potential campers should be aware of recent feedback indicating possible issues with the provision of promised activities, the cost of firewood, the operating hours of facilities, and the enforcement of cancellation policies, along with some reports of unwelcoming staff. If these aspects are of concern to you, it might be wise to seek further clarification from the campground directly before making a reservation or to consider alternative "camping near me" options in the region.

Hi Pines Campground Reviews
Campground is nice and clean, we went the weekend after Labor Day so I called ahead to make sure there was still outdoor activities for the kids (knowing the pond inflatables would be taken down).I was ensured everything remains up for the season to use, by Mid-day (still lightout) Saturday they removed the outdoor stuff that they were actively playing on.$1.25/piece of firewood this was a larger bill than a site was, as it got into the 40°s at night. (Stack in picture is $30)They closed the "clubhouse" over an hour early Saturday without telling anybody, so you couldn't order more firewood or anything else. Very disappointed and doubtful we'll return. Staff seemed pretty unwelcoming (Group of 4 Sites, all family)
Sep 23, 2024 · eric nahringHave stayed at Hi Pines for 10 plus years and they will not issue a refund with 11 days notice of cancelation. Had an unexpected change of plans and the office manager was awful to deal with. BEWARE of the fine print. Plus they double dip if they can rebook your site. They just simply don't care about the patrons. I had the option to move my dates, but she canceled my reservation anyway, didn't process a refund, and is now ghosting me. Good customer service. We will never be back along with a group of 6 other campers that come 2 times a year.
Jun 21, 2024 · Molly SaloOverall, this campsite has amazing amenities and really fun stuff for kids. The floating obstacle course is next-level fun. They also have exceptionally clean bathrooms, warm showers, and a wide variety of campsite options for your family. We additionally loved the wagon ride Saturday night. I want to acknowledge those positives. Really, my only barrier to returning here is customer-service related. The first night we were there, two wonderful ladies working. They were kind and demonstrated great interpersonal skills. The next day, however, a woman (blonde hair pulled up in a pony, short height, middle age) was working in the lodge. This woman chose to speak very disrespectfully to my 9 year son, right in front of me.My son and I went to the lodge together to play a game. I sat on a wooden chair, and he sat down on a lounge chair. He had his butt on the chair and then put his legs in the air to stretch them. I will say, he does have sensory processing issues and sometimes sits in that position to alleviate them. This worker, almost five seconds into his sitting down, angrily yelled at him, “YOUNG MAN, OUR FURNITURE IS NOT A JUNGLE GYM!!!”Now, I could list-out at least 10 better, more effective ways to have spoken to him just then. Simply asking him to put his feet down would’ve gone a long way. Kids with sensory issues often forget where their bodies are in space, so a gentle reminder would have sufficed. My kiddo isn’t perfect, I get young boys can be rough and wild—but he was NOT being rough! He wasn’t jumping, standing, rolling, or doing anything that compared to “jungle gym” behavior.I say all this only to alert this campsite that customer service is still important. I hope this employee will learn and improve. I would like to say she was just having a bad day, but in customer service you still need to put some emotional labor into your work to ensure your guests have a positive experience. Her poor communication soured the day for both me and my son.A simple apology would probably amend the situation for us. But please, just be kind to your guests, it’s not that hard!
Jul 07, 2024 · Keela CoppersmithKaren and Mark make it feel like a family there. They always accommodate and are by FAR the best choice for a big rig in the area. Great access, the sites are large, it is close to beautiful downtown Eagle River and all the Northwoods has to offer.
Jul 30, 2024 · Brian DominickVery strict rules. Environment is not laid back. If you plan on bringing your pet make sure you have a leash or you will get yelled at. Make sure you have your wristband they provide, on at all times. You pay $20 extra for a parking pass (this includes an additional $20 for anyone who visits). I will say there are alot of amenities for kids. However, you don't feel like you can have fun because you constantly feel like you are being watched. The two days I camped with family was okay, but will not be returning. Would much rather camp in a more laid back environment and not have to worry about telling my kids to be quiet all the time. Camping is suppose to be fun. Not a warm welcoming campground.
