Clear Lake South Campground Introduce
For local users searching within the "camping near me" category near Naches, Washington, Clear Lake South Campground, located at Naches, WA 98937, USA, offers a rustic camping experience in a beautiful area situated between two lakes. With contact numbers (509) 653-1403 and +1 509-653-1403 provided, this campground presents a natural setting with access to hiking, though potential visitors should be aware of its limited amenities, unique pricing structure, and recent reports regarding fishing conditions.
The environment surrounding Clear Lake South Campground is described as "beautiful," nestled between two lakes, which suggests a picturesque setting with potential for scenic views and a variety of outdoor activities. The accidental discovery of the road leading to this area by one reviewer hints at a somewhat secluded location, perhaps off the beaten path, adding to the sense of a natural retreat. The presence of a "nice hike by the bridge up to Clear Lake" indicates that the campground offers opportunities for walking and exploring the adjacent natural landscape. Being situated between two lakes could also imply potential access for water-based activities, although this is not explicitly detailed. The overall environment seems to be a significant draw, promising a tranquil and visually appealing camping experience for local users seeking a getaway in nature.
In terms of services, Clear Lake South Campground is characterized as "rustic," which typically implies basic amenities. The reviews confirm this, noting the availability of "one water spigot" to be shared among all campsites and "two bathrooms" also shared by all sites. This limited number of essential facilities is a crucial consideration for potential visitors, as it might require patience and planning, especially during times of higher occupancy. The single water source could mean longer waits to access water, and the two bathrooms might be heavily utilized. It is important for local users accustomed to more developed campgrounds to be prepared for these more basic provisions. The lack of mention of other amenities like picnic tables or designated fire rings suggests that campers should also be prepared to bring their own or utilize more primitive setups.
The pricing structure at Clear Lake South Campground is described as "tricky" and involves a nightly fee of $10 per camping spot, plus an additional $10 per car per night. This two-tiered fee system is important for local users to understand when budgeting for their trip, especially if traveling with multiple vehicles. For instance, a single camping spot with one car would cost $20 per night, while a group utilizing one spot but arriving in two cars would incur a $30 nightly fee. This per-car charge is a notable feature that distinguishes this campground from others that might have a flat rate per site. Campers should factor this into their cost calculations.
A significant feature of the area is the proximity to Clear Lake and another unnamed lake, as suggested by the reviewer who mentioned camping "between two lakes." This location offers the potential for lake-related activities and scenic enjoyment. The presence of a hike up to Clear Lake, accessible by a bridge, is another key feature for those interested in exploring the surroundings on foot. However, one reviewer had a notably negative experience with fishing in Clear Lake, reporting it as "absolutely dead" after spending over six hours kayaking and fishing along the south side with no bites, even with the lake being almost empty. This is a critical piece of information for local users who might be considering this campground primarily for fishing opportunities. While fishing conditions can vary, this recent report suggests that Clear Lake might not be a productive fishing spot at the time of the review.
Promotional information is somewhat limited but can be inferred from the positive aspects mentioned. The "beautiful area" and the unique setting "between two lakes" are certainly attractive selling points for local users seeking a scenic camping destination. The presence of a "nice hike by the bridge up to Clear Lake" also adds to the appeal for those who enjoy walking and exploring. The accidental discovery of the location, now considered a "secret" by one reviewer, hints at a hidden gem quality that might attract adventurous campers looking for a less mainstream spot. However, any promotional efforts should also transparently communicate the rustic nature of the camping, the limited number of water and bathroom facilities, and the unique per-spot plus per-car pricing structure to avoid any surprises for potential visitors.
For local users considering Clear Lake South Campground within the "camping near me" category, the key factors to weigh are its beautiful lakeside environment, the availability of a nearby hike, its rustic nature with limited shared amenities (one water spigot, two bathrooms), the per-spot plus per-car nightly fee, and the recent negative report regarding fishing in Clear Lake. If you prioritize a scenic location and are comfortable with basic facilities and the pricing structure, and if fishing is not your primary activity, this campground could be a worthwhile option. It is advisable to be prepared for a more self-sufficient camping experience due to the limited amenities and to factor in the per-car fee when planning your budget.
In conclusion, Clear Lake South Campground near Naches offers a rustic camping experience in a beautiful setting nestled between two lakes, with a hiking trail to Clear Lake as a notable feature. While the environment holds significant appeal for local users seeking a natural getaway, it is essential to be aware of the limited shared amenities, including only one water spigot and two bathrooms for all sites. The unique pricing structure, charging per camping spot and an additional fee per vehicle per night, should also be carefully considered. Furthermore, recent feedback indicates poor fishing conditions in Clear Lake. For those who value the scenic location and hiking opportunities and are prepared for a more basic camping experience with the specified fees and potential lack of fishing success, Clear Lake South Campground could be a tranquil option within the "camping near me" category.

Clear Lake South Campground Reviews
Rustic camping. One water spigot is available to share between all sites. Two bathrooms are available to share between all sites. Pricing is tricky, 10$ per camping spot per night. And an ADDITIONAL 10$ per car per night. It was a beautiful spot, and I'd love to come back, but the fishing was absolutely dead. We had the lake almost to ourselves and fished nearly the entire south side for more than 6 hours on kayaks with no bites.
