Unimproved Clear Lake North Group Campground Introduce
For local residents searching for "camping near me" in the vicinity of Naches, Washington, the Unimproved Clear Lake North Group Campground, located at 1200 NF-740, Naches, WA 98937, USA, offers a lakeside camping experience. It's important to note that despite its name including "Group Campground," individual campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Recent reviews provide valuable insights into the environment, services, and potential drawbacks of this location, which should be carefully considered by prospective campers.
The environment surrounding Unimproved Clear Lake North Group Campground is undoubtedly centered around Clear Lake, a feature that attracts boaters and RVers, as noted in the reviews. The area is described as having a "wonderful slice of beauty," suggesting scenic lake views and a natural setting that many visitors appreciate. However, one review mentions that the river (presumably connected to or feeding the lake) was dangerously low during their visit and had a significant amount of algae growth. This indicates that the water conditions can vary and might impact recreational activities such as swimming or fishing. The presence of woods around the campground is also noted, with a warning about dry conditions and the importance of adhering to local fire laws. Despite the beauty of the area, there are concerns raised about littering, specifically toilet paper and general garbage, which detracts from the natural appeal and highlights the need for responsible camping practices.
In terms of services, Unimproved Clear Lake North Group Campground offers basic amenities. According to a review, there are bathrooms (latrine style) available for campers' use, as well as a dumpster for trash disposal. This is a significant convenience for maintaining cleanliness. However, it's crucial to note that there are no electric, water, or sewer hookups, consistent with the "unimproved" designation. The campground operates on a fee basis, with a $20 per night camping fee and an additional $10 per day charge for an extra vehicle. It's also important to note that payment is cash only. For those not wishing to camp overnight, there are $10 day-use camping areas available, which could be suitable for picnics and enjoying the lake for a shorter period.
The features of Unimproved Clear Lake North Group Campground are somewhat mixed based on the recent reviews. Its primary feature is its location on Clear Lake, providing opportunities for boating and other lake-related activities, which seem to be popular among visitors, particularly boaters and RVers. The first-come, first-served policy for campsites is a key feature that requires campers to arrive early, especially on weekends, to secure a spot. The availability of bathrooms and a dumpster are essential features for basic sanitation and waste management. However, the reviews also highlight some significant drawbacks. The campground is described as becoming "very congested" and "packed to the brim" by Friday night, suggesting that it can get extremely crowded on weekends. This crowding reportedly leads to issues such as loud music, dogs barking, car alarms, and people yelling throughout the night, significantly impacting the peace and quiet typically expected during a camping trip. One reviewer likened the atmosphere to being in a "ghetto with no amenities," indicating a stark contrast to a relaxing natural retreat. This congestion and noise appear to be a major concern for many visitors, particularly families with children.
Located near Naches, WA, Unimproved Clear Lake North Group Campground is situated within the broader recreational landscape of the Yakima Valley and the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains. The area is known for its lakes, rivers, and forests, offering various outdoor activities. However, the specific experience at this campground, as described in the reviews, suggests that its proximity to these natural attractions might be overshadowed by the crowds and noise, especially during peak times. The popularity with boaters and RVers indicates that Clear Lake is likely a focal point for water-based recreation in the area. The presence of day-use areas suggests an effort to accommodate visitors who are not staying overnight but wish to enjoy the lake.
For local users searching for "camping near me" with lakeside access near Naches, Unimproved Clear Lake North Group Campground presents a location to consider. However, the recent reviews strongly suggest that potential visitors should be prepared for a potentially crowded and noisy environment, particularly on weekend nights. The first-come, first-served policy necessitates arriving early to secure a campsite, and the cash-only $20 nightly fee (plus $10 for extra vehicles) should be factored into the budget. The availability of basic bathrooms and a dumpster are positives, but the lack of hookups means self-sufficiency is required. Those accustomed to more remote and quieter camping experiences, especially those from out of state, may find the atmosphere challenging. Families with children might also be concerned about the reported noise levels and lack of a peaceful camping environment. Despite the potential beauty of Clear Lake itself, the overall experience at this unimproved group campground appears to be heavily impacted by overcrowding and the associated noise and behavior of some visitors.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available for Unimproved Clear Lake North Group Campground in the provided data. As a fee-based campground within a national forest (implied by the address format), any promotions or special offers would likely be communicated through the managing authority, which could be the US Forest Service. Local users might find information on seasonal passes or discounts for frequent campers on the official website of the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest or by contacting them directly at the provided phone number. Given the issues raised in the reviews about overcrowding and noise, it's unlikely that the campground would need to offer promotions to attract visitors, especially during peak seasons. Instead, potential campers should focus on understanding the conditions and deciding if this type of environment aligns with their camping preferences.
In conclusion, Unimproved Clear Lake North Group Campground near Naches, WA, offers lakeside camping with basic amenities such as bathrooms and a dumpster, operating on a first-come, first-served basis with a $20 nightly fee (cash only). While the area is described as beautiful, recent reviews highlight significant issues with overcrowding and noise, particularly on weekend nights, which may detract from the camping experience. The lake attracts boaters and RVers, and day-use areas are available for picnicking. Local users searching for "camping near me" should weigh the appeal of lakeside access against the potential for a congested and noisy environment, and those accustomed to quieter camping should be prepared for a different experience. Checking with the US Forest Service for any official updates or regulations is always advisable before planning a visit.

Unimproved Clear Lake North Group Campground Reviews
What a wonderful slice of beauty this entire area was. For the love of decency. Learn how to go to the bathroom outside. The amount of garbage all over the place. Mainly toilet paper was sad.
Sep 08, 2020 · Jeremy HoeppnerThe campground is first come first serve. It’s a $20 camping fee with $10 for an extra vehicle (10/day for extra vehicle). Cash only. There are bathrooms and a dumpster for trash. Mostly boaters and rv’ers take up a lot of the sites by Friday. They do have $10 day use camping areas for a nice picnic. In general there were families enjoying their time there. But this is a very congested area now. It was packed to the brim by Friday night. All night we heard loud music, dogs barking, car alarms going off and people yelling. It was like being in the ghetto with no amenities lol. I’m sure none of the families with children enjoyed this. But we all suffered through it. We left early because this to me is just not camping. The river was dangerously low when we went. And there was quite a bit of algae growing. The woods were dry so be careful with your fire and follow the local laws.If you are from another state and are used to more remote camping this will be a hard transition. Otherwise welcome to WA campgrounds. Crowded and noisy.
Aug 20, 2023 · MThis place is great! Cheap place to camp right by the river and a very short drive to the lake if you want to boat or do whatever. It looked like about 12 campsites all had to share one female and one male bathroom so if its busy, just plan for that if you can. I cant speak for the entire campground but the site we chose that's about how many surrounding sites were close to the restroom. All of the sites had some shade, some obviously had more than others. Theres trails all over the place. We went on a Wednesday and there were plenty of hikers moving about the area by the main road. Overall, it was really a good place to camp.
Aug 21, 2019 · Alyssa ConroyOur family very much enjoyed our campsite! The bathrooms were clean and sites well maintianed. The only downside were the other campers loud music and partying till 3 am.
Aug 25, 2019 · Deanna BissellOnly issue was lots of mosquitoes. Nice big open group camp site with a lot of flat spaces neat the river and private out house.
