Collins Park Introduce
For local residents in and around Rosholt, Wisconsin, seeking a tranquil "camping near me" experience centered around a beautiful lake, Collins Park, located at 2711 County Rd I, Rosholt, WI 54473, USA, presents an appealing option. While one review noted that the campground itself was closed at the time of their visit, the park as a whole offers a range of amenities and a serene lakeside environment that has garnered positive feedback from visitors.
The environment of Collins Park is primarily defined by its stunning lake, which is described as "beautiful" with "clear water." This no-wake lake is a significant feature, ensuring a calm and peaceful atmosphere ideal for relaxing activities such as swimming and kayaking. The absence of motorboat traffic contributes to the tranquility of the area and enhances its appeal for those seeking a quiet retreat. The park also boasts a diverse avian population, with "lots of birds to see," making it a potentially attractive location for bird watchers and nature enthusiasts. For those interested in boating (non-motorized), there is a "really nice" boat launch available, providing easy access to the lake for kayaks, canoes, and other paddlecraft.
In terms of services and features, Collins Park offers a variety of amenities to enhance the visitor experience. The presence of "lots of picnic tables" in the picnic areas suggests ample space for families and groups to enjoy outdoor meals. For families with children, there is a playground on-site, providing a dedicated area for kids to play and burn off energy. Sports enthusiasts can take advantage of the volleyball court available in the park. Visitors have also noted the presence of "nice bathrooms," indicating that clean and well-maintained restroom facilities are available, which is an important aspect for any park or campground. While the beach is mentioned, it is described as "quite small," so those prioritizing a large sandy beach area might need to adjust their expectations.
Although one reviewer's direct experience with the campground was limited due to its closure at the time, they relayed information from others who described it as "a great place to camp." This suggests that the camping facilities, when open, are well-regarded by those who have used them. However, it is important to note a crucial piece of information regarding the water quality at Collins Park. One reviewer provided an "FYI" stating that visitors need to bring their own water for cooking and drinking due to "high nitrite levels." This is a significant advisory that potential campers and park visitors must heed to ensure their health and safety. The presence of this water quality issue is a critical factor that differentiates Collins Park and requires careful planning by anyone intending to use the park's facilities.
The combination of a beautiful, no-wake lake suitable for swimming and kayaking, coupled with amenities like picnic areas, a playground, nice bathrooms, and a boat launch, makes Collins Park an attractive destination for a day trip or, when the campground is open, an overnight stay. The peaceful environment, enhanced by the absence of motorboats and the presence of diverse birdlife, further adds to its appeal for those seeking a relaxing natural setting. However, the advisory to bring your own water due to high nitrite levels is a significant consideration that cannot be overlooked.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. However, the positive descriptions of the lake's beauty and suitability for specific activities like kayaking and swimming serve as implicit promotion for these aspects of the park. The mention of "nice bathrooms" also subtly promotes the park's attention to basic comfort and hygiene. For local users specifically interested in a no-wake lake environment for peaceful water activities and a family-friendly park with amenities like a playground and picnic areas, Collins Park appears to be a strong contender. However, the necessity of bringing their own water for consumption is a key piece of information that potential visitors must be aware of and prepared for.
In conclusion, Collins Park in Rosholt, WI, offers a very nice and peaceful environment centered around a beautiful no-wake lake, perfect for relaxing swimming and kayaking. The park provides ample picnic areas, a playground for children, a volleyball court, and reportedly nice bathroom facilities. The presence of a good boat launch enhances access to the lake. While the campground was reported as closed by one visitor, others have indicated it is a great place to camp. However, a critical piece of information for all visitors, including campers, is the need to bring their own water for cooking and drinking due to high nitrite levels in the park's water supply. Local users seeking a serene lakeside experience with family-friendly amenities should consider Collins Park, keeping the water advisory in mind. Collins Park Reviews
Very nice, smaller County Park. The campground was closed, but we have heard from others its a great place to camp. The lake was beautiful and excellent for a bit of kayaking. Clear water and lots of birds to see. Boat Launch if really nice. Its a no wake lake, however. The picnic areas have lots of picnic tables, and there's a playground, nice bathrooms, volleyball court. Very peaceful place. The beach is quite small.
Oct 16, 2021 · Lindsay SondelskiBeautiful place to camp. No wake lake makes for relaxing swimming and kayaking. Nice bathrooms too. Just an FYI that you need to bring your own water for cooking and drinking due to high nitrite levels.
Aug 23, 2021 · Jenny MolepskeOur family has been coming to this park for over 40 years. Wish there was more of a beach and clean swim area. This past year there was a lot of weeds and overgrowth. We will continue to come back because it is a very important part of our lives and we all find peace there.
Aug 12, 2023 · Theresa MaraschLovely little county park campground. It looks like all the sites were in the shade which was nice. Good little beach and playground. Clean bathrooms. We had a great time! Also, I couldn't believe how much firewood you get for only $5. We really appreciated that!
