Ridgewood Campground Introduce
For local residents in Wisconsin and those searching for "camping near me" in the Plover area, Ridgewood Campground, located at 4800 River Ridge Rd, Plover, WI 54467, USA, offers a camping option with mixed feedback regarding its policies and atmosphere. Reachable by phone at (715) 344-8750 or +1 715-344-8750, this campground has received both positive comments about its friendly atmosphere and helpful owners, as well as a significant caution regarding potential restrictions on older recreational vehicles.
The environment of Ridgewood Campground is suggested to be well-kept, as noted in a positive customer review. This implies that the grounds are likely clean and maintained, contributing to a pleasant camping experience. The address, River Ridge Rd, might indicate a location that offers some natural beauty, possibly with proximity to a river or ridge, although specific details about the natural surroundings are not elaborated upon in the provided reviews. However, the mention of a desire to use a pontoon boat by one potential camper suggests that the campground may offer access to a nearby body of water suitable for boating activities.
In terms of services, one positive review highlights the helpfulness and accommodating nature of the owners, who went out of their way to find sites for campers on short notice. This indicates a potentially high level of customer service and a willingness to assist guests. The review also mentions friendly people within the campground, including permanent residents who were welcoming and shared a campfire, suggesting a strong sense of community. While specific amenities are not detailed, the fact that it accommodates RVs (as implied by the trailer age discussion) suggests the presence of RV sites, possibly with hookups for electricity and water. It is reasonable to expect standard campground amenities such as restrooms and showers, although their condition is not specifically mentioned in the positive review.
A notable feature, based on the desire of one potential camper, might be access to a body of water suitable for pontoon boats. If this is the case, it would be a significant draw for those interested in boating and water-based recreation. The positive review also points to a family-friendly atmosphere, suggesting that the campground is welcoming to families with children and potentially offers amenities or a general environment geared towards them. The well-kept nature of the campground, as mentioned, is another positive feature that contributes to a more enjoyable stay.
However, a critical point of caution arises from one negative review, which details a frustrating experience attempting to make a reservation. This potential camper was told that their trailer was "too old" (despite being in pristine condition and stored indoors) and was advised to purchase a new one, being informed that the campground does not accept older trailers. This policy, if consistently enforced, could be a significant restriction for individuals with older but well-maintained RVs. It suggests that the campground may have specific standards or aesthetic preferences regarding the age of recreational vehicles they accommodate. Potential campers with older trailers should be aware of this reported policy and inquire specifically about any age restrictions before attempting to book a site.
Promotional information is not provided in the reviews. To learn about any rates, availability, or specific policies, especially regarding the age of RVs, it is essential to contact Ridgewood Campground directly using the provided phone numbers. They can offer details on site types (e.g., RV with hookups, tent sites), pricing, reservation procedures, and any rules or regulations that campers need to be aware of. Given the conflicting feedback, it would be particularly important to clarify their policies on RV age and any other specific requirements for campers.
For local users searching for "camping near me" in Plover, WI, Ridgewood Campground presents a mixed picture. On the one hand, it appears to be a well-kept, family-friendly campground with helpful and accommodating owners who foster a friendly community atmosphere. The potential access to water for boating could also be a significant draw. On the other hand, there is a reported policy regarding the age of trailers that could exclude some RV owners, regardless of the condition of their vehicle. This policy should be a key consideration for those planning to camp with an RV.
Therefore, local residents considering Ridgewood Campground should weigh the positive feedback regarding the friendly atmosphere and helpful owners against the potential restriction on older trailers. It is strongly recommended to contact the campground directly to inquire about their specific policies, especially if you plan to camp with an RV that is more than a few years old. Getting clarification on these policies, as well as information on amenities and rates, will help ensure a smooth and satisfactory camping experience. If you have a newer RV or are tent camping, the positive reviews suggest a potentially enjoyable stay at Ridgewood Campground.
In conclusion, Ridgewood Campground in Plover, WI, offers a potentially welcoming and well-maintained camping environment with helpful owners and a friendly community. However, a reported policy regarding the age of accommodated trailers is a critical factor that potential RV campers need to be aware of and should verify directly with the campground management before making a reservation. For those without older RVs, the positive aspects highlighted in the reviews suggest a pleasant "camping near me" option in the Plover area.

Ridgewood Campground Reviews
Called 3 times. Sent one email. Finally got a call back. All she cared about was how old our trailer is. Apparently too old. Doesn't matter that it's in pristine condition and always stored inside. Was told to buy a new trailer and good luck with your search for a place that accepts old trailers. We weren't looking for a status symbol campground anyway, just a fun safe place for our kids and a place where we could use our pontoon. Buyer beware.
Jun 09, 2024 · Big ChuckOwners were so helpful and willing to accommodate us on such short notice. I can not thank them enough for what they did to get us sites for the weekend. People in the campground were really friendly, even ended up sharing a fire with the permanents that were next to us. The place is awesome! It is well kept, family friendly and one of the best campgrounds we have every stayed at in that area! Loved it!Becky and Rick, Joe and Mary from Green Bay
Jul 21, 2015 · Becky SchutteWe contacted this campground a couple of times with no response. We drove to see it and were surprised that the campground looks quite different than the pictures on the website. Much more run down with lots of clutter on the campsites. The only reason we considered a seasonal site is because of a very nice camper who answered our questions and had great things to say about the people there.
May 07, 2022 · Sarah ParkerAt the time we stayed it is most a place for seasonal camping not a campground for 1 or 2 nights. They had some open seasonal sites so we were able to stay a night. Management was very kind, great communication and friendly. She stated there are plans to expand next year.Site was very beautiful by the water and wooded with mature trees. Very nice bathrooms and showers in the club house. Amenities were electric, firepit and bath house as stated above.Unfortunately if your looking for handicap amenities this is not the place. Full disclosure, it was not advertised as handicap accessible. When I stayed I had a broken leg and used a knee scooter. Getting around the gravel road was ok as it was packed down. The Bath house was a but harder with 6 stairs up it was a bit more difficult but I had family to help me to the top.All in all I would rate this camping experience as a 5 star place but not for anyone that is handicap.
