Cozy Corners Campground Introduce
Looking for a no-frills camping option near you in the Oglesby, Illinois area, potentially as an alternative to the popular Starved Rock State Park? Consider Cozy Corners Campground, located at 805 N 25th Rd. For those searching under the category "camping near me" and seeking a basic campground with essential amenities and a reputation for friendly service, Cozy Corners presents a viable option. While described as "average" in terms of facilities, the campground stands out for its accommodating owner and reliable utilities.
A Primarily Long-Term Occupancy Campground:
It's important to note that Cozy Corners Campground is described as being "95% filled with monthly / annual campers, families and construction workers." This suggests that the campground primarily caters to long-term residents and those needing temporary accommodation for work. While transient campers are welcome, the overall atmosphere might be more akin to a residential community than a traditional short-term vacation campground. This is a key factor to consider when evaluating if Cozy Corners aligns with your desired camping experience.
Basic Gravel Sites with Concrete Patios:
The campsites at Cozy Corners are described as "average size" and consist of "gravel with a newer concrete patio pad and old picnic table." This indicates a functional but not particularly scenic or spacious setup. The presence of a concrete patio pad is a notable upgrade that can enhance the usability of the site, providing a level surface for outdoor furniture or activities. However, the "old picnic table" suggests that some of the amenities might be showing their age. Campers should be prepared for a fairly basic site in terms of ground cover and overall aesthetics.
Good and Stable Utility Supplies:
Despite the average nature of the campground itself, the utility services are reported to be reliable. The review mentions "good stable electricity and water supplies," which is essential for RV campers and those relying on these hookups for their comfort. This reliability in essential utilities is a significant advantage and provides peace of mind for campers needing these services.
Limited Cell Service and No Wi-Fi:
Connectivity might be a challenge at Cozy Corners Campground. According to one review, "Cell service not great on Verizon or AT&T," although "T-Mobile did have 5G." Additionally, the campground does not offer Wi-Fi, as stated "No wifi in park." This lack of reliable internet access could be a drawback for campers who need to stay connected for work or personal reasons. It's important to consider your connectivity needs when planning a stay at Cozy Corners and to check with your mobile provider for potential coverage in the area.
Misleading Advertising Regarding Amenities:
One reviewer pointed out discrepancies between the advertised amenities and what is actually available. They noted that the campground "advertised poolS are actually one pool" and that "The Minigolf pictured is no longer there." This suggests that the online information or promotional materials for Cozy Corners might not be entirely accurate. Potential visitors should be aware of these discrepancies and perhaps verify the availability of specific amenities when making inquiries or reservations.
Pricing and Discounts:
The nightly rate mentioned in one review was "$70 a night (with tax)," with the information that there is "no weekly discount." Furthermore, the reviewer stated, "We did not receive our Good Sam discount they advertised." This indicates that the pricing might be on the higher side for a basic campground and that advertised discounts may not always be honored. It is crucial to confirm the current rates and any applicable discounts directly with the campground when booking.
Exceptional Kindness and Accommodation from the Owner:
Despite the average facilities, Cozy Corners Campground receives high praise for its owner. One reviewer who was redirected to Cozy Corners after Starved Rock was full shared a heartwarming experience: "As people have said, the owner is incredibly nice." They recounted being placed at a site without a fire pit, after which the owner "introduced me to a group at a nearby site with one." The following morning, the owner even "stopped by with coffee and a pastry" for the camper. This level of personal care and hospitality is a significant asset of Cozy Corners and suggests that while the campground itself might be basic, the service is exceptional.
A Convenient Alternative to Starved Rock:
For those finding it difficult to secure camping at the popular Starved Rock State Park, Cozy Corners Campground can serve as a nearby alternative, being "within 20 miles of Hershey Park" (it's worth noting that Hershey Park is actually in Pennsylvania, suggesting this might be a geographical misreference by the reviewer and they likely meant a local landmark near Starved Rock). The proximity to the Starved Rock area makes it a potentially convenient base for exploring the state park and other attractions in the region, even if the campground itself is more functional than scenic.
Ideal for Those Prioritizing Friendly Service and Basic Needs:
Cozy Corners Campground appears to be best suited for campers who prioritize friendly and accommodating service and require basic amenities like reliable electricity and water hookups. While the campground might not offer extensive recreational facilities or a particularly picturesque setting, the exceptional kindness of the owner can significantly enhance the overall experience. It could be a practical option for long-term stays, those working in the area, or as a fallback when other campgrounds in the popular Starved Rock region are fully booked.

Sep 16, 2024 · Jim HanelyWas planning on camping at Starved Rock but was turned away and told to check this place out. As people have said, the owner is incredibly nice. I wound up at a spot without a fire pit so he introduced me to a group at a nearby site with one. The following morning he stopped by with coffee and a pastry for me. The campground itself isn't special but I highly recommend it just because the owner is great. Thanks again for everything! (I stayed there in Aug 2012 but wanted to leave a review since he was so nice and I wasn't reviewing things back then)
Aug 11, 2022 · B GabrielWe didn't make plans to include this Campground in our trip from Ohio to Wisconsin however, we're very glad that we stopped. The owner make sure not only to find us a place but nature to let us know exactly how to back in to have the best leveling available. The lot that we stayed on was extremely flat. He was very accommodating to ensure that we had everything that we needed. We also was offered extension cords and extended fresh water hose if needed. But we had that already. Very quiet Campground nestled among a lot of corn and beans. State parks are abundant in the area and are always fully booked so this was a nice surprise. The local town seems to be more tourists driven and have a considerable amount of things to see especially when you add in the state parks I mentioned above. This is a cash and check only Campground and I suggest that if you have a chance to stop to give them a ring and see if they can accommodate you. It's well worth it!
Aug 05, 2018 · RV DaydreamI just stayed at Cozy Corners Campground this past weekend. It was such a great experience! It's in a great location, and the couple that owns this campground are so sweet and helpful. We showed up pretty late, when it was dark out... we were greeted right away, asked if we needed help with setting up our tent. I was taken on a short tour of the grounds in Dave's golf cart. And while we were setting up our tent, Dave got wood and set up our fire for us. The couple are so nice to talk to, they checked on us maybe once a day just to make sure we were all set. They offered us grilling equipment, fresh tomatoes and even a beer! They were just so accommodating and I can't wait to go back :)
Sep 17, 2012 · Laura RogersThis is a family-run business. They allowed us to check in late and were super accommodating. They directed us to a hardware store when we needed extra pins for our camper. They also helped us set up and get ready for the evening. Full hookups and quiet setting. Also pet friendly. If we are this way again we will stop and stay at cozy corners.
