Based on recent customer feedback, Small Town Campground presents a mixed picture. One long-term guest who stayed for four and a half months while their husband worked in the area praised Tammy and Keith for being "very helpful and couldn’t be nicer." They also noted that the park is relatively new, which means there are currently no mature trees providing extensive shade. However, they found it "perfect for staying while working" and offered a definite recommendation.
Conversely, another reviewer, identifying as a "traveler for work," strongly advised against staying at Small Town Campground. Their negative experience centered around alleged unfair treatment, significant bug issues due to a lack of spraying, and perceived rudeness from the owners. This stark contrast in reviews highlights the importance of considering individual needs and priorities when choosing a campground.
Given its categorization under "camping near me," Small Town Campground likely caters to a range of camping styles, potentially including RV sites and tent camping areas. While specific details about the number and type of sites available are not provided in the given information, it's common for such campgrounds to offer essential hookups for RVs, such as electricity, water, and sewage. Tent campers can typically expect designated areas with access to basic amenities.
In terms of environment, the review mentioning the lack of mature trees suggests that the campground might offer open spaces with ample sunlight. This could be advantageous for those relying on solar power or who prefer unobstructed views. However, during the hot Iowa summer months, the absence of shade might be a significant consideration for some campers. It would be prudent to inquire about any plans for landscaping or shade structures if this is a concern.
Regarding services and features, the positive review indicates that the management, specifically Tammy and Keith, are helpful and responsive to the needs of their guests. This personal touch can significantly enhance the camping experience, especially for those staying for an extended period. Potential services could include on-site laundry facilities, restroom and shower facilities, and possibly Wi-Fi access, although these are not explicitly mentioned in the provided text. It would be beneficial to confirm the availability of these amenities when booking.
The negative review raises concerns about pest control, specifically regarding bugs. If you are sensitive to insects, it would be wise to inquire about the campground's pest management practices before making a reservation. Understanding their approach to this issue can help you prepare accordingly and make an informed decision.
Promotional information is not explicitly included in the provided text. However, as a local campground aiming to attract visitors searching for "camping near me," Small Town Campground might offer specific rates for short-term stays, weekly or monthly discounts for longer stays, or potential seasonal promotions. It is recommended to contact them directly to inquire about any current offers or pricing structures that might suit your needs.
In summary, Small Town Campground in Mallard, Iowa, presents itself as a potentially convenient option for those seeking local camping. While one long-term guest reported a positive experience with helpful management, another traveler expressed significant dissatisfaction regarding customer service and pest control. The newer nature of the park means limited shade from mature trees. If you are considering a stay, it is highly recommended to contact Small Town Campground directly at (712) 425-3230 or +1 712-425-3230 to discuss your specific requirements, inquire about amenities and pest control measures, and understand their current pricing and policies. This will allow you to form your own informed opinion and determine if Small Town Campground aligns with your expectations for a comfortable and enjoyable camping experience in the "camping near me" category.

Small Town Campground Reviews
This is a very nice place to stay. We have been staying here 4 1/2 months while my husband works in the area. Tammy and Keith are very helpful and couldn’t be nicer. This is a newer park so no trees for shade but perfect for staying while working. Definitely recommend.

Jul 22, 2023 · Mike FickertSimply an overpriced place to park. No amenities. Only basic utilities. No shade, no storm shelters, sites right on top of each other, no stores or services in town.
