Creekside Loop Campground Introduce
Welcome to Creekside Loop Campground, a serene natural retreat nestled within the stunning Samuel P. Taylor State Park in Lagunitas, California. For anyone searching "Camping Near Me" and looking for an immersive outdoor experience, Creekside Loop offers a compelling option with its blend of natural beauty and essential amenities. Located at 5 Taylor Park Rd, Lagunitas, CA 94938, USA, this campground provides a gateway to the diverse landscapes and recreational opportunities of Marin County.
The environment at Creekside Loop Campground is one of its most significant draws. As the name suggests, the campground is situated alongside a picturesque creek, offering campers the soothing sounds of flowing water and often beautiful views. The campsites are generously sized, providing ample room for multiple tents and vehicles. One reviewer enthusiastically noted that a site could easily accommodate "2-3 tents (depending on size) and park 2 cars," highlighting the spaciousness available to campers. The towering trees provide abundant shade, creating a cool and inviting atmosphere even on warmer days, and contributing to the overall sense of seclusion and connection with nature. This lush greenery is frequently praised by visitors, making for an aesthetically pleasing and relaxing backdrop to any camping trip. The presence of significant wildlife, particularly audible in the creek at night, adds to the authentic wilderness experience, allowing campers to truly feel immersed in the natural world. This natural setting is ideal for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and reconnect with the outdoors.
Regarding services, Creekside Loop Campground offers fundamental amenities essential for a comfortable camping experience. Each site typically includes access to potable water, a significant convenience that eliminates the need for campers to haul in large quantities of drinking water. This is a considerable advantage for both tent and RV campers. Additionally, the campground provides bathroom and shower facilities. However, it's important to present an objective view of these facilities based on varied customer feedback. While one recent review indicated "clean bathrooms and potable water at your site," another detailed a contrasting experience, describing the bathrooms and showers as "disgusting" with "mold and dead bugs everywhere," suggesting they had "not been touched in years." This disparity in reviews highlights the importance of managing expectations regarding the cleanliness of communal facilities, which can fluctuate. Visitors should be prepared for varying conditions in the restrooms and showers, a common challenge in state park campgrounds operating under budget constraints. Despite this, the presence of these facilities, regardless of their current state, remains a vital service for campers.
The features of Creekside Loop Campground extend beyond basic amenities, enhancing the overall camping experience. Its prime location within Samuel P. Taylor State Park means campers have direct access to an extensive network of hiking and biking trails. The park is renowned for its redwood groves, open grasslands, and riparian corridors along Lagunitas Creek, providing diverse opportunities for exploration. The creek itself is a significant feature, not just for its scenic beauty but also for the wildlife it attracts. Visitors often report hearing various animals, enriching the nocturnal soundscape of the campground. The spaciousness of the individual sites is a key feature, allowing for privacy and comfort, a quality highly valued by campers. This ample space makes it suitable for families, groups, and individuals seeking a less crowded camping environment. The close proximity of some sites to the bathrooms, as noted by a reviewer, can be a convenient feature for some campers, reducing walking distance. The overall sense of being enveloped by nature, with large trees and the calming presence of the creek, defines the unique character of this campground.
For those considering a visit to Creekside Loop Campground, especially when searching for "Camping Near Me," there are several promotional aspects to consider. The sheer beauty of Samuel P. Taylor State Park itself is a major draw, offering opportunities for photography, birdwatching, and simply enjoying the tranquility of nature. The campground’s location makes it an ideal base for exploring the wider Marin County area, including nearby coastal attractions and charming small towns. The park is known for its excellent salmon and steelhead trout runs in Lagunitas Creek during the spawning season, offering unique viewing opportunities for nature enthusiasts. While the official contact number for inquiries is (415) 488-9897 or +1 415-488-9897, it is always advisable to check the official California State Parks website for the most current information regarding reservations, fees, park regulations, and any potential alerts or closures. Online booking is often available and highly recommended, especially during peak seasons, to secure a desired campsite. Promotional information should emphasize the family-friendly nature of many campsites, the opportunities for outdoor activities like hiking and cycling, and the chance to observe local wildlife. Prospective campers should be encouraged to pack appropriate gear for varying weather conditions and to be mindful of Leave No Trace principles to preserve the natural beauty of the park for future visitors. While the reviews on bathroom cleanliness are mixed, focusing on the natural environment and spacious sites can effectively promote the campground's primary strengths. Creekside Loop Campground offers a genuine opportunity to immerse oneself in the stunning natural environment of Samuel P. Taylor State Park, making it a noteworthy destination for anyone seeking a memorable camping experience in the "Camping Near Me" category.

Creekside Loop Campground Reviews
Beautiful campsite in the Samuel P. Taylor State Park. We were at site 13 and loved the greenery, view of the creek, and close proximity to bathrooms. Plenty of room, I'd say you could fit 2-3 tents (depending on size) at this site and park 2 cars.I'm giving it 4 stars because the bathrooms and showers are disgusting. I've been camping for years, and these were pretty bad. I know it's a state budget, but management needs to come up with a better system to clean the bathrooms and showers at least once a week. They looks like they have not been touched in years with mold and dead bugs everywhere.
May 03, 2025 · Ally KempfA nice camp ground with clean bathrooms and potable water at your site. Spots are spacious. The trees are big. Heard lots of wildlife in the creek at night but didn't see much.
Mar 18, 2022 · Adam KaplanBeautiful Redwoods and the bathrooms are clean, the staff wad really nice and friendly.
May 31, 2023 · PAPDFLBeautiful campground in a stunning setting along the river!
Mar 09, 2025 · Anna FirsovaExcellent site. Cool and shaded. Camp site 6 is a little cramped so if you have more than a 2 person tent you'll end up on the edge into camp site 5 but otherwise pretty decent layout. Parking spot available on the road right next to the site. Sites even have a lockable storage shed to keep stuff in while you're away from the site.
