Out of staters and travelers beware. I have a sense this is only a place the locals have learned to maneuver through the nuance of bureaucratic nonsense. Clay County Missouri, you can do better.I live in Clay County, my in-laws travel the country from Alaska to Main and they stayed at Crows Creek to visit us this week. Crows Creek hits their top 5 most miserable campground experiences. They always call when they book a place (just of that generation). First, Crows Creek said they have "Full Hookup". Nope, they only have electricity available. They also said they are retirement and handicap "friendly". Nope, you'll pay full price regardless of age and there is no effort to help those that are disabled (veteran) to have better experiences. The staff is inconsiderate, totally indifferent or flexible, and downright rude to customers. We went to the campground to pick them up to take them to dinner one night, the park wouldn't let us go a quarter-mile into the park to simply pick them up without paying their entrance fee. My disabled in-laws had to drive out to meet us outside of the park entry gate. Then we were told we couldn't park at the gate (even though there was plenty of parking available) so we could ride in the same vehicle. We've picked them up at dozens of RV parks over the years around the country, this is the first time park staff didn't smile and give us a nod-and-a-wink to let us simply drive in, pick them up, and drive out. I live and pay my taxes in Clay County, we can do better than this! - R F

Crows Creek Campground Introduce

Hello, local outdoor enthusiasts! If you're searching for "camping near me" around Smithville, Missouri, Crows Creek Campground, located at 4601 Crow Creek Rd, Smithville, MO 64089, USA, is a local option to consider. To provide an objective introduction, we'll look at what the available customer reviews indicate about this campground.

When local users seek "camping near me," they often look for a balance of natural beauty, convenient amenities, and a welcoming atmosphere. Based on the reviews, Crows Creek Campground presents a somewhat mixed picture in these areas. One reviewer, a local resident whose in-laws stayed at the campground, shared a particularly negative experience. They noted discrepancies between what was advertised ("Full Hookup") and what was available (only electricity, no sewer). This is a crucial point for RV travelers looking for specific utilities at their campsite.

The same reviewer also mentioned that the campground was described as "retirement and handicap 'friendly'" but found no effort to assist a disabled veteran in their party and that full price was charged regardless of age. Furthermore, they described the staff as "inconsiderate, totally indifferent or flexible, and downright rude." A specific incident was recounted where the reviewer, a local taxpayer, was not allowed to drive a short distance into the park to pick up their in-laws without paying an entrance fee, requiring the disabled in-laws to walk to the park entrance. This suggests a potentially rigid and unwelcoming policy for visitors.

This negative review paints a picture of potential bureaucratic hurdles and less-than-friendly staff interactions that local users, as well as out-of-town visitors, might encounter. It serves as a strong caution for those who value ease of access and a welcoming environment when choosing "camping near me."

However, another reviewer had a more positive experience, describing Crows Creek Campground as "lovely." They highlighted that "the sites are big" and provide a sense of personal space. This suggests that the physical environment of the campground, in terms of site size, might be a significant plus. This reviewer also mentioned enjoying a campfire with friends and observing children riding bicycles and having fun, indicating a family-friendly atmosphere in some respects. They noted the absence of sewer hookups but confirmed the availability of water and electricity at the sites.

From these contrasting reviews, we can gather the following about Crows Creek Campground. The environment appears to offer spacious campsites, potentially allowing for a greater sense of privacy. It seems to be a place where children can enjoy outdoor activities like bike riding. However, the experience might be impacted by the availability of hookups (no sewer, only electricity mentioned) and potentially by interactions with the staff and park policies.

In terms of services and features, we know that water and electricity are available at some or all campsites. There are fire pits for campfires, and the presence of children on bicycles suggests open areas suitable for such activities. However, the lack of sewer hookups is a notable limitation for RVers seeking full services. The availability and condition of other amenities, such as restrooms or showers, are not mentioned in these reviews.

For local users searching for "camping near me," Crows Creek Campground offers the appeal of large, private sites and the availability of water and electricity. It seems to attract families with children. However, potential downsides include the lack of sewer hookups and the possibility of encountering unaccommodating staff or rigid park policies, as highlighted in one of the reviews.

Given these mixed perspectives, local campers considering Crows Creek Campground might want to weigh the importance of spacious sites and basic utilities against the potential for bureaucratic issues and less-than-welcoming service. If you primarily need a large space with water and electricity and are less concerned about sewer or visitor policies, this campground might still be a viable option for "camping near me."

To get a clearer picture and address any specific concerns, local users should contact Crows Creek Campground directly at (816) 407-3400 or +1 816-407-3400. Inquiring about the availability of different types of hookups, the campground's policies regarding visitors, and any amenities offered (like restrooms, showers, etc.) will help you make an informed decision.

In conclusion, Crows Creek Campground near Smithville, MO, offers spacious campsites with water and electricity. It seems to have a family-friendly vibe with children enjoying outdoor activities. However, potential drawbacks include the absence of sewer hookups and concerns raised about staff attitude and park policies. Local residents looking for "camping near me" should consider these points and perhaps contact the campground directly for more information before making a booking.
