Cuivre River State Park Campground Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" in the Troy, Missouri area? Consider Cuivre River State Park Campground, located at Midway Dr, Troy, MO 63379, USA. This campground within the popular Cuivre River State Park offers a range of camping experiences, as highlighted by recent visitor feedback. Situated close to Troy, it provides a convenient natural escape for local users seeking outdoor recreation and overnight stays.
Cuivre River State Park itself is a significant draw, known for its diverse natural environment. While the reviews don't extensively detail the park's overall ecology, the mention of "wooded sites" suggests areas with ample tree cover, providing shade and a more immersive natural feel. The presence of "plenty of trails nearby" indicates opportunities for hiking and exploring the park's scenic landscapes. Additionally, the mention of a "beach" suggests the availability of water-based recreation, likely on a lake or river within the park. For local users seeking a "camping near me" experience that combines wooded areas with water access and hiking possibilities, Cuivre River State Park Campground appears to be a strong contender.
The campground offers different types of campsites to cater to various needs. One reviewer specifically distinguishes between "full hookup campsites" and "basic and just electric campsites," as well as "wooded sites." Full hookup sites typically provide connections for water, electricity, and sewer, making them suitable for RVs and campers seeking more amenities. The basic and electric campsites offer a more traditional camping experience with at least electrical hookups, while the wooded sites likely cater to tent campers and those who prefer a more natural and secluded setting. This variety allows local users searching for "camping near me" to choose an option that best suits their camping style and equipment.
However, one visitor who stayed at the full hookup campsites reported a less than ideal experience due to noise levels. They described the area as "extremely loud," citing proximity to a road with noisy vehicles and disruptive behavior from some fellow campers, including excessive drinking and loud conversations. This resulted in an inability to relax and enjoy the fireside ambiance. This reviewer explicitly stated they would not return to the full hookup side and would stick to the wooded sites in the future. This feedback is crucial for local users considering the full hookup area and suggests that noise might be a concern in that section of the campground.
In contrast, another reviewer had a "great" experience, specifically mentioning the campground host as "a very cool guy." This positive feedback highlights the potential for helpful and friendly staff who contribute to a positive camping environment. This reviewer also noted that the campground is "very well maintained," suggesting that St. Charles County takes good care of the facilities, ensuring a clean and organized camping area for those looking for "camping near me." The presence of "plenty of space and shade for tent camping" in other areas of the campground is also a significant advantage for tent campers, providing comfort and a more enjoyable outdoor experience.
A significant positive aspect mentioned by the second reviewer is the presence of a "noise curfew," which they found to be a valuable feature, preventing disruptive noise during sleeping hours. This suggests that while some areas might experience noise issues, the campground management has measures in place to ensure a peaceful night's rest for campers overall. This is a crucial consideration for local users prioritizing a quiet and relaxing "camping near me" experience.
Beyond the campsites themselves, Cuivre River State Park Campground boasts appealing recreational features. The availability of "plenty of trails nearby" caters to hikers and nature enthusiasts, offering opportunities to explore the park's natural beauty and get some exercise. The presence of a "beach" provides a space for swimming, sunbathing, and other water-related activities, enhancing the overall appeal for families and individuals looking for a diverse "camping near me" destination. Additionally, the mention of an "archery range" offers a unique and engaging activity for those interested in trying their hand at archery.
While no specific promotional information was included in the reviews, the positive feedback regarding the well-maintained grounds, helpful staff, noise curfew in certain areas, and the availability of trails, a beach, and an archery range serves as an implicit endorsement for local users seeking a "camping near me" experience with a range of amenities and recreational opportunities. Cuivre River State Park Campground Reviews
We have stayed here several times, we actually live close by as well, love the park and the other section of basic and just electric campsites. This review is for the full hookup campsites. It is extremely loud, also next to a rd that has the occasional missing muffler car or obnoxiously diesel truck revving, half the people are obnoxiously loud and drunk, I literally could not sit by my fire and chat with my husband. I will never come back to this side again, I'll just stick with the wooded sites.
Oct 06, 2024 · Julie OlleGreat place! The campground host is a very cool guy. The campground itself is very well maintained, plenty of space and shade for tent camping. There is a noise curfew which is nice, nothing worse than trying to have a peaceful night outdoors with someone blasting kid rock a the 100ft away. I've checked out several campgrounds in the area and this is the best. Plenty of trails nearby, a beach, and the archery range is awesome.
Jul 14, 2024 · JLBeautiful park and campground with ample camping sites. Water was available and close to our site, everything was clean and firewood was available for sale. Everyone including the staff were very friendly and helpful, staff frequently drove around cleaning and checking sites.I dropped a star for the bathrooms/showers though. They say on the doors they close for two hours a day for cleaning but the floors are nasty, there was dog hair all over the shower walls and floor, and several times the toilets were out of paper and paper and other items were all over the floors. The water in the showers was VERY hot though! 🥵
Sep 07, 2024 · Ciara HatcherPleasant campsite built in the woods. Campsite has its own lake for swimming and boating fun. Amenities are basic but clean: shower block needs a lick of paint, but you can shower with endless free hot water - no coins or time-limit. Plenty of cicadas, raccoons, and ticks.
Aug 31, 2024 · P WoodedhillWe camped in spot #16. The campground was well maintained and we felt safe. The camp host was very friendly. It was pretty full and noisy during the day but everyone respected quiet time. We did not use the restrooms. The drive in had some steep hills but it was beautiful. We would stay again.
