The environment at Danforth Bay Camping & RV Resort is described as being surrounded by "beautiful trees," offering a natural and potentially shaded camping experience. Unlike traditional campgrounds with tightly packed sites, reviewers highlight that the sites here are "not small" and provide "lots of room," ensuring that you don't feel like you're on top of your neighbors. The terrain of the campsites is noted as being on "dirt," which is common in many rustic camping settings and blends well with the wooded surroundings. The resort's proximity to Mary's Mountain, which is "walkable from the campground," adds to the environmental appeal, offering a convenient hiking opportunity with a "gorgeous" view after a short 0.6-mile, albeit sometimes steep, trail. The availability of lake access, though the reviewer didn't use the boat rentals, suggests a waterfront environment where "sunsets were great," indicating scenic beauty and potential for water-based activities. The resort also features a "rec room" equipped with games like corn hole, a TV, and even "study/work rooms," offering indoor entertainment and functional spaces. The "bathrooms in there were super clean too," reinforcing the overall cleanliness of the facilities. For accessing the campground after hours, a "key card" system is in place, requiring a "$20 deposit," which ensures security and controlled entry when the front office staff is not on duty. Additionally, the resort offers "golf cart rentals and boat rentals for their lake," providing convenient options for exploring the large campground and enjoying water activities. They also sell firewood in their store, adding to the convenience for campers who want to have campfires, although cheaper wood might be found outside the resort.

The feeling of not being crowded is a significant draw for those seeking a more private and relaxed "camping near me" experience. The direct access to the Mary's Mountain trailhead is another notable feature for hiking enthusiasts. The availability of both golf cart and boat rentals on-site provides added convenience for exploring the resort and the lake without having to leave the premises. The presence of a well-equipped rec room and laundry facilities further enhances the comfort and convenience of staying at the resort. Danforth Bay Camping & RV Resort Reviews
Stayed 4 nights in April. Being off season, the place was pretty much empty. Nonetheless, the bathrooms were cleaned every day. Good pressure and hot showers. The front desk was on top of it and was ready with anything I needed. Laundry was card or coin operated, reasonably priced and well kept. Rec room had corn hole, a TV, and even study/work rooms. The bathrooms in there were super clean too. Super close is Mary's Mountain, walkable from the campground. Once at the Trailhead, it's a short 0.6 mi hike that is pretty steep in some places. The view is gorgeous!
Apr 19, 2025 · Jean NWe had a great stay at Danforth! It is a huge campground and they are not your traditional campground. Your site is on dirt and you’re surrounded by beautiful trees! The sites are not small by the way. You have lots of room and your neighbors are not close so it doesn’t feel like you’re on top of one another. They offer golf cart rentals and boat rentals for their lake. We didn’t get to go out on the water but the sunsets were great! They sell wood in the store which is convenient but we found cheaper wood running around town, if you happen to leave the resort. You have to put a $20 deposit on a key card. It gets you in and out of the campground because once the front office staff leaves for the day, there is no getting back in without a key card.It was overall a great stay and we would definitely go back!
Oct 31, 2024 · Alexis and Tyler WinnOur favorite for many years, great pools, great lake water, great beachfront, great staff, great store, great location, great campground lay out, 20 plus year of going there on vacation we decided to go seasonal...... it's our vacation every weekend now, 100% love it there!!
Mar 22, 2025 · Tony FieldWe recently stayed at Danforth Bay Camping & RV Resort and it was a truly disappointing experience. From the moment we arrived, the service was incredibly slow. We had made a reservation for a golf cart, only to find out they wanted to charge us $125 per day. Despite having a long waiting list for the golf carts, they insisted on charging us for both days, showing a complete lack of customer consideration. The noise from the neighboring site made our stay unbearable, with dogs crying from being left alone. It quickly became clear that this resort is not suitable for families looking for a peaceful getaway. It took three visits to the office before the manager, Jeremy, finally made himself available. Unfortunately, he demonstrated poor management skills and seemed ill-equipped to handle our concerns. Even after we left for the day and informed the staff, Jeremy called to argue with us, which felt completely unnecessary and confrontational.Overall, I would not recommend [Danforth Bay Camping & RV Resort for a family vacation. The lack of professionalism and poor customer service overshadowed any potential enjoyment we could have had during our stay.
Aug 12, 2024 · Dave GoldenWe love danforth bay but still there are suggestion We would like to address able to give 5 star,-we suggest that they should have a built in drinking water for pet at the dog park, not just a hose hanging on the ground.- on summer days we go for a walk at the store or establishment they should have a bowl of water for a pet and a built in stand holder for the dog while we go inside the store or toilet.-they should plants trees on the drive tru camp site on summer days trees can give shade.-they get rid of the paddle boat hope they should return it its nice than using the paddle board.- should have a music on the toilet /bath house.- should have a fitness area indoor. All of this suggestion is based on the other campground that we went to.Overall we enjoy our stay, but always suggestion is welcome.
