Deep Hole Recreation Area Introduce
For local users seeking a tranquil and secluded "camping near me" experience in the Suches, Georgia area, Deep Hole Recreation Area, located at Deep Hole Campground Road - U S F South, Suches, GA 30572, USA, offers a charming option. Situated within a natural environment, this small campground is particularly noted for its fishing opportunities and access to a creek. You can contact them at (706) 745-6928 or mobile phone at +1 706-745-6928.
The environment surrounding Deep Hole Recreation Area is characterized by its natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere. The campground is located near a creek, which is highlighted as a "Great Place for fishing." This suggests that the area is ideal for anglers looking to enjoy a quiet fishing experience in a natural setting. The presence of a creek also provides opportunities for other water-related activities, as one reviewer mentioned a "little boat launch for tubes," indicating the possibility of tubing or other small watercraft activities. The creek also appears to be shallow and accessible, as one reviewer's sons "enjoyed walking out into the creek." The overall impression is of a beautiful and serene spot, perfect for those looking to connect with nature.
One of the notable environmental aspects mentioned is the complete disconnection from the modern world, as one reviewer appreciated being "completely disconnected from the world." This suggests a lack of cell phone service or other technological distractions, making it an ideal location for a "digital detox" and a truly immersive natural experience. The small size of the campground likely contributes to its secluded and peaceful ambiance.
In terms of services, Deep Hole Recreation Area offers basic amenities for campers. A significant point of discussion in the reviews is the restroom facilities, which are described as "outhouse style" but also noted as "the cleanest ‘outhouse’ I’ve ever used." This indicates that while the restrooms are not modern flush toilets, they are well-maintained and clean, which is a crucial aspect of campground comfort. The presence of a "little boat launch for tubes" can be considered a service catering to recreational activities on the creek. While other specific services like water availability, fire pits, or picnic tables are not explicitly mentioned, the positive reviews suggest that the basic necessities for a comfortable stay are likely provided.
However, one significant service-related issue mentioned in a review is "the smell from the composting bathroom wafting through the campground." The reviewer acknowledged that it was a clean bathroom but described the smell as "horrendous" and noticeable "randomly through out the day and night." This is an important factor for potential visitors to consider, as odor can significantly impact the overall camping experience, even if the facilities are clean.
The features of Deep Hole Recreation Area are primarily centered around its natural setting and opportunities for outdoor recreation. The easy access to a creek that is excellent for fishing is a major feature. The availability of a small boat launch suggests the possibility of enjoying the creek with tubes or other small watercraft. The secluded environment and lack of digital connectivity offer a feature of tranquility and a chance to disconnect. The small size of the campground likely contributes to a more intimate and less crowded camping experience. The clean outhouse-style restrooms, despite the odor issue, indicate an effort to maintain sanitary facilities in a more rustic setting.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information such as discounts or special offers mentioned in the provided reviews. The primary promotion for Deep Hole Recreation Area seems to be the positive experiences of those who enjoyed the fishing, the beautiful location, the clean (albeit outhouse-style) restrooms, and the opportunity for a digital detox. The fact that one reviewer hopes to return to camp here and another described it as an "Awesome little campground" serves as a positive endorsement for its appeal to those seeking a quiet and nature-focused "camping near me" experience.
However, the significant drawback of the smell from the composting bathroom, as highlighted by one reviewer, is a crucial piece of information that potential visitors should be aware of. While the cleanliness of the facility is a plus, the pervasive odor could detract from the overall enjoyment of the campground. Individuals who are particularly sensitive to smells may want to consider this factor when deciding whether to camp at Deep Hole Recreation Area.
For local users considering Deep Hole Recreation Area for their next "camping near me" trip, the reviews suggest a charming and secluded location ideal for fishing and enjoying nature away from digital distractions. The small size and creek access contribute to its appeal. The cleanliness of the outhouse-style restrooms is a notable positive. However, the potential for a noticeable and unpleasant odor from the composting bathroom is a significant consideration that may impact the overall camping experience. Weighing the positive aspects of the natural environment and recreational opportunities against the potential for odor issues will be key for prospective visitors.
In conclusion, Deep Hole Recreation Area offers a small and secluded "camping near me" experience in a beautiful setting in Suches, GA, with excellent fishing and creek access. The campground is praised for its cleanliness, particularly the outhouse-style restrooms, and its potential for a digital detox. However, a significant drawback reported by one reviewer is the noticeable and unpleasant smell emanating from the composting bathroom. Local users should carefully consider this potential negative aspect alongside the positive attributes of the location and recreational opportunities when deciding if Deep Hole Recreation Area is the right choice for their camping needs.

Deep Hole Recreation Area Reviews
Great Place for fishing. Small but Clean campground. The restrooms were outhouse style but they were the cleanest “outhouse” I’ve ever used. There is a little boat launch for tubes. My sons enjoyed walking out into the creek. It was a beautiful spot. We hope to come back to camp here.
Jul 23, 2022 · Ashley HAwesome little campground. We very much enjoyed our stay here. The only negative is the smell from the composting bathroom wafting through the campground. It was a clean bathroom, but it smelt horrendous and we smelled it randomly through out the day and night. Otherwise, it’s picture perfect and it was awesome to be completely disconnected from the world.
