Deerfield Campground Introduce
Hello to our local users in US who are searching for "camping near me"! Let's take a look at Deerfield Campground, located at Deerfield Rd, Greentown, PA 18426, USA. While this campground is situated in Pennsylvania, USA, understanding its environment, services, and features, as described by recent campers, can provide valuable insights as you explore similar camping options in US.
Based on the reviews, Deerfield Campground is described as a "perfect small campground for tents" and a "quiet and green campground." This suggests an environment focused on a more traditional tent camping experience, likely set within a natural, wooded area. The mention of a signboard warning about rattlesnakes indicates that the campground is situated in a natural habitat where such wildlife might be present. For those who appreciate a peaceful and nature-filled setting, Deerfield Campground appears to offer this kind of environment.
However, the reviews also highlight several important aspects regarding the services and features of Deerfield Campground:
- Campsite Size and Ground: Campsites are noted as being "big enough for two" tents. However, at least one site was "mostly gravel, which made it hard to find a good spot to pitch our 4p Kelty tent." This suggests that while the size might be adequate, the ground surface of some sites could pose a challenge for tent setup.
- Restroom Facilities: The restroom at Deerfield is described as "clean" but does not include showers. Campers need to walk to the nearby Pickerel Campground (a 5-8 minute, or approximately 7-minute walk) to use the showers. This lack of on-site showers is a significant point to consider. One reviewer also noted that the "restrooms were decent- a little dirty," and the women’s stall ran out of toilet paper and had no hot water over a weekend. This indicates potential inconsistencies in restroom maintenance.
- Quiet Atmosphere: The campground is praised for being quiet, which is a significant draw for those seeking a peaceful camping experience.
- Privacy: One reviewer appreciated a corner spot by the restroom that was "tucked in the trees for privacy" and provided good rain cover. This suggests that some campsites offer a degree of seclusion.
The reviews also mention Pickerel Campground and Pickerel Point beach, which are accessible from Deerfield Campground:
- Showers: Showers are available at Pickerel Campground, a short walk from Deerfield. However, campers were not always informed about this arrangement upon booking or check-in.
- Beach at Pickerel Point: The beach is described as having "nice water," but parking was "super limited (4 public spots?)." This led to many families having to walk a considerable distance to reach the beach, especially on a busy summer day. Additionally, the beach bathrooms do not have showers or outdoor rinsing facilities.
Based on these points, the services and features of Deerfield Campground can be summarized as a quiet, tent-focused campground with clean restrooms (though potentially with maintenance issues), the need to walk to a nearby campground for showers, and proximity to Pickerel Point with a beach that has limited parking. There is no mention of other typical campground amenities like fire pits, picnic tables, or water/electricity hookups at individual tent sites, though the review of the RV sites at CreekView (from a previous query) mentioned those, so tent-only sites here might be more basic.
There is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. To find out about any special offers or booking details for Deerfield Campground, you would need to contact them directly or visit their website if available.
For our local users in US looking for "camping near me," Deerfield Campground offers several points to consider when evaluating potential campsites:
- Type of Camping: Is the campground primarily geared towards tents, RVs, or both? Deerfield seems to be well-suited for tent camping.
- Restroom and Shower Facilities: Are showers available on-site, and what is the cleanliness and functionality of the restrooms? The Deerfield example highlights the importance of knowing if you need to go to a different location for showers.
- Environment: Do you prefer a quiet, natural setting? Deerfield is described as such. Also, be aware of any local wildlife that might be present.
- Campsite Quality: Consider the ground surface and size of the campsites based on reviews.
- Proximity to Other Attractions: If the campground is near other recreational areas like beaches, understand the accessibility and potential limitations (e.g., parking).
When you search for "camping near me" in US, use local camping platforms and read reviews carefully to get a realistic expectation of the environment, services, and any potential drawbacks of a particular location. Many campgrounds in US offer a range of experiences, from mountain retreats to coastal camping, with varying levels of amenities. Pay attention to details about restroom facilities, campsite conditions, and any nearby attractions to make the best choice for your needs.
In conclusion, Deerfield Campground appears to be a small, quiet campground ideal for tent camping in a natural setting. While it boasts clean restrooms, showers are located at a nearby campground, which is a key factor to consider. Some campsites might have gravel surfaces, which could affect tent setup. The proximity to Pickerel Point offers beach access, but parking there can be challenging. For local users in US exploring "camping near me," Deerfield serves as an example of a campground with a focus on a peaceful environment and basic amenities, with some limitations regarding showers and campsite surfaces. Always check recent reviews and campground descriptions for the most accurate information when planning your camping trips in US.

Deerfield Campground Reviews
This is a perfect small campground for tents. We stayed for three nights and loved it. The camp sites are big enough for two.The restroom is clean but you have to go to Pickerel campground for showers. It’s just 5-8 minutes of walk.If you are looking for a quiet and green campground, this is the one. We didn’t see any rattle snakes but the signboard says there are.

You have to walk all the way to Pickerel to use the showers. Walk is about 7min, but we weren’t informed of this upon booking/checking in.Our restrooms were decent- a little dirty. Women’s stall ran out of toilet paper , and had no hot water all weekend.Beach at Pickerel Point is so-so— nice water, but parking was super limited (4 public spots?). Majority of families had to walk quite a bit to get to the beach on a summer Saturday in July. Beach bathrooms don’t have showers or outdoor showers to rinse off.
Jul 24, 2023 · J TNice campground; smallish sites, clean bathrooms & showers. Bears are rather bold - keep all food secured, and dispose of garbage each night. Rangers run a relatively tight ship - take note of the "No Alcohol Permitted" signs at all campground entrances.
