Dillon State Park Cabins Reviews
Great experience, cabin was íleft in excellent shape upon our arrival. The kitchen had plenty of clean dishes, utensils and cups. The bathroom was stocked with towels O'plenty. The only complaint I feel relevant would be how the cable would constantly go in and out, which was and is annoying to say the least.
Apr 28, 2025 · Jay ArgyleThis is our second year staying here and it won't be the last. Peaceful, good hiking trails, hunting availability nearby and a short drive to town to get any needed supplies. Cabins come stocked with linens, dishes and cookware. The newly remodeled look is nice and having pet friendly options is wonderful.
Nov 13, 2024 · Ashley ChristenberryI stayed at the Dillon State Park Cabin (#2) for 2 nights at the end of July 2024.If your frame of reference is outdoorsy cabins, trailers, and camps, then I would say this is 4 stars. If your frame of reference includes traditional hotels, then this would be 3 stars.Initially, I was apprehensive about staying in a cabin. A few years ago, I had an unpleasant stay at a fishing camp in western Ontario with minimal amenities. I know some people who stayed at Dillon State Park Cabin last year and were unimpressed.I was pleasantly surprised though. Apparently, several of the cabins have been renovated since last year. Cabins #1 and #2 have definitely been renovated but it seemed like some of the other cabins (like in the #20+ range) have not been renovated thus far.My cabin was clean, air conditioned, and had a tv, stove, a full fridge (not merely a mini fridge), and both the main room and the bathroom had modern furnishings. The bathroom had a sink, shower (with hot water), and flushing toilet. There was also an attached patio area with screens. Outside there was a grill and further out a fire pit (I did not use either). There were two bedrooms. One room had a queen sized bed. The other room had two bunk beds stacked on top of each other and then a twin bed in the corner.Apparently last year the configuration was one bed with a queen bed, one room with the two bunk beds, and then the couch in the main room could be converted into a bed. With the renovated layout, the couch in the main room does not convert into a bed - instead there is an additional bed with the bunk beds. That did make it a little awkward with 4 individuals because it had to be split so that 1 person was in one room and the other 3 people in the second room (instead of 2 & 2).The only negative I can really think of about the cabin is that the pillows were not very comfortable, though the bed was comfy. As this is in a state park, there is plenty of wildlife. I saw lots of rabbits and deer. Since there are deer around, be careful driving in the area in the early morning or late evening. The cabins are built along a hill (portions, such as the patio, are held up by stilts/pilings). The cabins are also below where the road and parking is. There are various wooden steps and walkways that you have to come down to reach the cabins. So if you have severe mobility issues or lots of luggage, it may be challenging getting to the cabin. Someone in a wheelchair would not be able to reach the cabin unless they were carried down the steps. Given the steep slope, I would not recommend wandering around at night or when your coordination is impaired. Since you are in the wildness, it is dark at night and also quiet (other than nature sounds, including cicadas). Parking is higher up, near the narrow two-lane road. I would not say it is dangerous, but if you are backing up with your car just keep an eye on the edge of the road because you would not want your car to go down the incline of the hill.I can't say that I have stayed in a lot of cabins but this has been the most pleasant cabin stay that I can recall. For some people, it may not compare to a luxury hotel but for others they may actually prefer the simplicity and being immersed in rugged nature.
Jul 29, 2024 · Eric ChiangThis is our 3rd stay at the Dillon Cabins. They have been nicely updated since our last visit. -2 Stars because they don’t seem as well appointed this time. The only skillet in our cabin was a 24in cheap metal skillet that everything stuck to. No knives, can opener, bottle opener, the fire ring and grill (charcoal) were on the opposite side of our door and deck and the hillside was so steep and slippery, I couldn’t have sat in a chair near the fire or comfortably stood near it. Regardless, it beat sleeping in a tent.
Jul 29, 2021 · Terry MayberryCabin was clean and quite fancy inside actually. It has all your basic needs including dishes, silverware, cookware, dishsoap, towels, hand towels and toilet paper. It has a full-sized fridge and freezer, electric stove, microwave, coffee pot (regular, not Keurig), TV and dvd. Table and chairs in kitchen, table and chairs on screened in porch, picnic table on outside front porch. Heat and AC. One bedroom has just one queen (?) bed and the other has a full sized bed and a set of bunk beds. Bathroom is simple, nice and clean. Plenty of hot water. Just bring food (and there's plenty of storage for it) and clothes and any creature comforts you desire. I brought my own towels, sheets, blankets and pillows just because I'm a germophobe but theirs all appeared to be clean. I even worried about bedbugs but I thoroughly checked and found no evidence of them. We all slept well and no creepy-crawlies! I guess my only complaint is that the fire ring is on a steep hill that leads to the woods, which makes it difficult to position chairs around the fire. I was scared to death that the little ones would tip over and break their necks. Finally we just sat on the ground around the fire ring. Some other cabin sites seemed to have a less steep fire area. Only other thing is that you don't get to pull right up to your cabin, but rather you park across the street. It's not a busy street, but you have to transfer your stuff from the car, across the street and down a bunch of steps to get to your cabin. So that was odd, but not so bad that I wouldn't return. All in all, a great stay at a pretty sweet cabin. Liked a lot...almost loved.
