One reviewer noted that "the campground was clean" and "the bathroom was mostly clean," indicating that attention is paid to the upkeep of these essential facilities. While "mostly clean" suggests a generally acceptable standard, it also implies that there might be room for slight improvement or occasional variability. The availability of a bathroom facility is a significant service for any campground, contributing to the comfort and convenience of campers. The second reviewer, who mentions camping in the area often at different campgrounds, specifically highlights that the "second campground" they believe Driftwood to be (where they stayed for the 4th of July) has "easy access to the river." The features of Driftwood Campground are closely tied to its environment and services. The prime feature is undoubtedly its location next to the North Fork John Day River, offering opportunities for relaxation by the water and potentially activities such as fishing (though not explicitly mentioned in these reviews). The "nice little" size could be considered a feature for those seeking a more secluded or less overwhelming camping experience. The consistent mention of cleanliness, both of the campground in general and the bathroom facilities, suggests that maintaining a tidy environment is a priority, which is a significant feature contributing to a pleasant stay. The easy access to the river from at least some campsites is another notable feature, enhancing the appeal for those who wish to fully enjoy the riverside setting. The fact that a repeat camper chose Driftwood Campground for a 4th of July stay implies that it is considered a desirable location, particularly during peak camping times, further highlighting its positive features.
Promotional information is not explicitly stated in the reviews, but the positive feedback serves as an implicit endorsement. The description of the campground as "nice," "well maintained," and "very pleasant" by one reviewer, and the emphasis on cleanliness and easy river access by another, all act as positive selling points for potential visitors. The fact that a seasoned camper in the area chose Driftwood Campground for a holiday weekend suggests a positive reputation among local camping enthusiasts. The allure of camping next to the North Fork John Day River, a likely scenic and potentially recreationally rich waterway, is also an inherent promotional aspect of the campground's location. Driftwood Campground Reviews
A nice little, well maintained campground. Next to the North Fork John Day River. Very pleasant!
Apr 24, 2025 · Isaac RogersThe campground was clean, the bathroom was mostly clean, and I just love the North Fork of the John Day River. We camp here often at different campgrounds. This time for the 4th of July we were at the second campground I believe and it has easy access to the river.
Nov 20, 2019 · Jennifer TeriburyThis is an amazing, beautiful place if you're looking to get away and very literally unplug as there is no cell service and if you don't mind a dirt/gravel road not really made for cars but if you can handle all that well this a beautiful place.
Jun 06, 2023 · Cher WalkerAmazing small campground. Great spot if you can't find dispersed spots along the way.
Jun 24, 2020 · Blake McKinleyThe rocks in the John Day river are so beautiful, the colors are unlike any place I have ever been. If you are really lucky you might see the wildlife living in the nearby refuge. I have seen sheep, deer, elk and my most prized sighting of a Bobcat. You do have to be aware of bear and cougar though. Respect the wildlife when you are in their home.
