Big Mike's Creekside RV Resort Introduce
If you're searching for "RV Parks Near Me" in the scenic Newland, North Carolina area, Big Mike's Creekside RV Resort, located at 400 Wyatt Dr, Newland, NC 28657, presents itself as a potential option. You can reach them at (828) 897-1289 or +1 828-897-1289. While the name suggests a resort-style experience by a creek, it's crucial to consider the feedback from recent visitors to form a well-rounded understanding of what this RV park offers.
One of the frequently mentioned positives in the available reviews is the resort's location. It's noted to be conveniently close to various "mountain type things to do," with Grandfather Mountain specifically highlighted as a nearby attraction. This proximity to natural beauty and outdoor activities could be a significant draw for those looking to explore the North Carolina mountains. The area around Newland is known for its stunning landscapes, hiking trails, and scenic drives, making it a desirable destination for RV travelers seeking outdoor adventures.
However, several reviews point out significant drawbacks that potential visitors should be aware of. A recurring concern is the "extremely tight spaces" between RV sites, which reportedly caused difficulties in maneuvering and backing in larger vehicles. This lack of space also extended to the area outside the campers, with one reviewer mentioning that the close proximity of neighboring sewage lines made it unpleasant to relax outdoors. For RVers who value personal space and the ability to comfortably set up and enjoy their campsite, this could be a considerable disadvantage.
Furthermore, the term "resort" in the name appears to be a point of contention among some reviewers. One explicitly stated that the park has "no real amenities" and suggested removing the word "resort" from its name. This implies that visitors might find the facilities and services offered to be basic, potentially lacking features often associated with an RV resort, such as a swimming pool, laundry facilities, recreational areas, or organized activities (with the exception of a specific event mentioned later). If you are looking for a park with extensive amenities, it would be wise to inquire directly about what is currently available at Big Mike's Creekside RV Resort.
Experiences with the check-in process and customer service seem to be mixed. One review described arriving within check-in hours but finding no one at the office. The check-in process was eventually handled via a phone conversation, with paperwork provided later by the camp host. This same reviewer also experienced a delay in receiving a requested picnic table, which only arrived after a follow-up with the office. While the issues were eventually resolved, the initial inconvenience and delay could be frustrating for travelers arriving after a long journey.
It's important to note that one positive experience was shared regarding a specific event: the "2024 Halloween bash." The reviewer, who hadn't personally stayed at the park but attended the event, mentioned that "the kids had a blast" and noted the "beautiful location," "super friendly" atmosphere, and "lots of room between RVs" during the event. This suggests that the park may have the capacity to host enjoyable events and that at least on that occasion, space was not an issue. However, it's unclear if the spacing was different for event attendees compared to regular campers or if this was an isolated positive experience regarding space.
One reviewer mentioned that the park seemed to be explaining potential future improvements, specifically regarding making new spaces larger. While this indicates an awareness of the current space limitations and a potential willingness to address them, it's important for prospective visitors to base their decisions on the current conditions of the park rather than future promises. The same reviewer stated that they would not recommend the park in its current state but might return if the new, larger spaces materialize. This highlights the significant impact of the tight spaces on the overall experience for some visitors.
Considering the category "RV Parks Near Me," potential local users will likely be comparing Big Mike's Creekside RV Resort with other options in the Newland area. The proximity to attractions like Grandfather Mountain is a definite selling point. However, the reported issues with tight spaces, limited amenities (contrary to the "resort" designation), and instances of less-than-ideal customer service are factors that should be carefully weighed against the location's advantages. It would be prudent for interested individuals to contact the park directly to inquire about the current layout of the sites, the specific amenities available, and their policies regarding check-in and guest services. Asking about any ongoing or planned improvements, particularly regarding site sizes, could also provide valuable information.
In conclusion, Big Mike's Creekside RV Resort benefits from a location near popular mountain attractions in Newland, NC. While one positive experience was noted regarding a specific event's atmosphere and spacing, several reviews highlight concerns about extremely tight RV spaces, limited amenities that don't align with the "resort" designation, and some instances of inconvenient check-in and service delays. Potential local users searching for "RV Parks Near Me" should carefully consider these points and perhaps seek more current information directly from the park to determine if it meets their specific needs and expectations for an RV camping experience in the North Carolina mountains.

Big Mike's Creekside RV Resort Reviews
Extremely tight spaces caused difficulty in backing in, limited area to relax outside of camper where the sewage lines from neighbors campers were so close you didn’t want to be outside. No real amenities, should take the “resort” word out of their name.We arrived later in the evening but before the end of check in time which caused a delay in setting up because there wasn’t anyone there. After knocking on his trailer we got no response. Called their number left a message. Received a call back fairly quick and was basically checked in via phone conversation and was told to speak to the camp host. After setting up camp host came by our slot, gave us our paper work and left. I asked about a picnic table and said he would bring one in the morning. The next day after returning from exploring the area still no table. Talked to the office and they finally brought one over.Location was close to a lot of mountain type things to do to include Grandfather mountain. It seems like they are explaining the park and if they make the new spaces larger we might return but I would not recommend this place. I think they have a lot of reasonable areas to improve upon.
Jul 29, 2024 · Robert BorgesiWe went for the 2024 Halloween bash. And the kids had a blast!!!! I haven't personally stayed there, but I know the location is beautiful! And everyone was super friendly, and lots of room between Rvs.
Nov 05, 2024 · Johna CableGr8 park. Big Mike and his wife are great people. Park is clean and well-kept. Big Mike's Coffee Shop is also great. Great offerings.
Nov 23, 2024 · Kelsey WalkerFamily and dog friendly campground. Friendly service, clean and well equipped. Busy coffee and ice cream shop. Firewood for sale. Immaculate bathrooms and nice big showers. Fun playground, fenced in dog park, creekside sites, amphitheater with events and live music. Close to restaurants, shops. Walkable to do errands. Walking/biking trail. Highly recommend and would definitely stay here again!
Sep 25, 2024 · VickiThis was our first time to Big Mike’s Creekside RV Resort. It was a bit disappointing because I felt it was a bit deceiving. They state they have a dog park which they don’t. For us that is huge since we always travel with our two dogs. I was also disappointed that I got a text saying they were expecting me and my site was all prepared for me. When we got to our site it had a stalled lawnmower in it that they had to remove with a bobcat. I called ahead and asked if we would have a picnic table. They stated yes but we didn’t. We asked the host who removed the lawnmower if we could get one and he never came back. We called the number for the RV park. No one ever answers you leave a message and they get back to you or you text them and they get back to you. I suggest you text because sometimes my messages were not answered for hours. Eventually we just grabbed a picnic table from a vacant site. There are about 20 full time people there who appear to live there. It was pretty quiet. They are about 50% paved roads and 50% gravel. Pads are not wide enough and roads are too narrow. They planted some new trees in the whole RV park which look great but made it challenging to get in your site if you are long. They were building a stage for events in the future. I can say whoever owns it is trying hard to make it nice but they have a ways to go. I would focus more on customer service. All in all it was ok. We stayed 8 days.
