Edge Of The River Resort Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the vicinity of Dallas City, Illinois, Edge Of The River Resort, located at 971 W 1st St, Dallas City, IL 62330, USA, offers a riverside setting and budget-friendly rates. However, potential visitors should be aware of a significant environmental factor that has been prominently highlighted in customer reviews: the close proximity to very active train tracks.
One reviewer provided a detailed account of the noise impact, stating that the campground is "right next to very active train tracks." The proximity is so close that guests can "feel the ground shake as they come speeding by blasting their horns." According to this review, train traffic is frequent, with approximately "3-5 trains an hr came by during our stay all night long." This level of noise pollution is a critical consideration for anyone planning to stay at Edge Of The River Resort, as the reviewer explicitly warns, "Unless you can sleep through an apocalypse, this might not be the place for you."
Despite the significant noise issue, the reviewer also acknowledges some positive aspects of the campground. One notable feature is its location "right on the river." Riverfront camping often provides scenic views, opportunities for water-related activities (though not specified in the reviews), and a generally pleasant natural environment. The reviewer specifically mentions that "the sunsets are beautiful," suggesting a visually appealing aspect of the riverside setting that might attract some campers.
In terms of amenities, the review indicates that some sites have been upgraded to include "50amp now with sewer and water." The availability of full hookups (electricity, sewer, and water) is a significant advantage for RV campers, offering convenience and comfort during their stay. This suggests that Edge Of The River Resort is making efforts to improve its infrastructure and cater to the needs of modern RVs.
Another positive aspect mentioned is the affordability of the campground, with a rate of "just $20 a night" for the sites with upgraded hookups. This price point could be very attractive to budget-conscious local campers, especially those who are willing to tolerate the noise in exchange for a low nightly fee and full amenities.
A second, much briefer review simply states, "Wonderful place wonderful people...." This provides a contrasting perspective, suggesting that some visitors have had a positive experience at Edge Of The River Resort, potentially finding the location and the management to their liking. It's possible that these visitors were less sensitive to the train noise or that their stay occurred during periods of less frequent train traffic (though the first reviewer's detailed account of consistent nighttime noise makes this less likely). This positive comment does highlight the possibility of a friendly and welcoming atmosphere at the resort.
Considering the conflicting feedback, local users interested in Edge Of The River Resort need to carefully weigh the significant drawback of the train noise against the positives of the riverside location, affordability, and the availability of some sites with full hookups. The environment is clearly defined by its proximity to active train tracks, which will likely be the dominant sensory experience for most visitors. However, the beauty of the river and the potential for scenic sunsets could be appealing to some.
In terms of services and features beyond the hookups, the provided reviews do not offer much detail. Potential visitors might want to inquire about other common campground amenities such as restroom and shower facilities, laundry services, Wi-Fi access, picnic tables, fire rings, and the availability of activities or recreational areas on-site. The type and size of campsites, as well as any specific rules or regulations, would also be important considerations.
There is no specific promotional information available in the provided reviews, aside from the mention of the $20 nightly rate for some sites with 50 amp, sewer, and water. This competitive pricing could be seen as a promotional aspect, particularly for those seeking an affordable camping option in the Dallas City area.
For local users searching for "camping near me," Edge Of The River Resort presents a mixed picture. The riverside location and affordability are definite advantages, and the availability of some fully hooked-up sites is a plus for RVers. However, the consistently reported issue of significant and frequent train noise is a major deterrent that cannot be ignored. Potential visitors must honestly assess their tolerance for noise, especially during nighttime hours, before considering a stay here. If you are a light sleeper or highly sensitive to noise, this campground is likely not a suitable choice, regardless of its other merits. However, if noise is less of a concern, the beautiful sunsets, riverside setting, and budget-friendly rates might make Edge Of The River Resort worth considering. It is strongly recommended to contact the campground directly at (319) 371-1090 or +1 319-371-1090 to inquire about site availability, specific amenities, and to potentially get more information about the train schedule or noise levels from the management themselves.

Edge Of The River Resort Reviews
This place is right next to very active train tracks. It’s so close to those tracks that you can feel the ground shake as they come speeding by blasting their horns. About 3-5 trains an hr came by during our stay all night long. Unless you can sleep through an apocalypse, this might not be the place for you. If the noise doesn’t bother you then this place is not too bad. It’s right on the river. The sunsets are beautiful. Some sites have 50amp now with sewer and water and the price is right, at just $20 a night. If you can handle the extreme noise then give this place a shot.
