Spring Lake Campground Introduce
For local users seeking "camping near me" in the Burlington, Iowa area, Spring Lake Campground is located at 3939 Spring Lake Rd, Burlington, IA 52601, USA. While it is geographically accessible, recent customer feedback raises significant concerns that potential visitors should carefully consider before making a reservation.
Several reviewers have described highly negative experiences at Spring Lake Campground, primarily focusing on the behavior of the management and the overall condition and functionality of the facilities. One reviewer recounted an experience with the manager that they characterized as bullying and unprofessional, stating they had never encountered such issues at numerous other RV parks. Another review echoed these sentiments, describing the manager as "rudely and so inconceivably and consciously disrespectful," detailing an incident involving payment arrangements and an abrupt demand to leave the premises early in the morning with threats of involving law enforcement.
Beyond management concerns, the reviews also highlight several significant issues related to the physical condition and services at Spring Lake Campground. One long-term visitor noted that "lots are not level," which can create challenges for setting up RVs and ensuring appliances function correctly. Furthermore, a serious concern was raised regarding the safety of the drinking water, with the reviewer stating that the "water is unsafe to drink" and advising potential visitors to contact the county health department for testing information. This is a critical factor for any camper needing potable water for drinking, cooking, and hygiene.
Adding to the water-related problems, another reviewer indicated that the water supply is "full of sediment," which can lead to the clogging of RV water lines and filters. This could result in inconvenience and potential damage to campers' equipment. The same reviewer also mentioned "low" water pressure, which can further impact the usability of water within RVs and for other camping needs.
Practical considerations such as parking and maneuverability also appear to be challenging at Spring Lake Campground. One review noted that "parking is tight" and the "space to move camper is tight," which could make navigating and setting up larger RVs difficult, especially for those with less experience. This is an important factor for local RV owners to consider when evaluating this campground.
In terms of amenities, the feedback suggests a lack thereof. One reviewer explicitly stated, "no amenities," while another mentioned that "the restrooms are closed" and the overall appearance of the campground is "deserted and run down and dilapidated." The absence of expected campground amenities can significantly impact the comfort and convenience of a stay, particularly for longer visits or for campers who rely on these facilities.
Safety is another serious concern raised in the reviews. One reviewer vaguely mentioned that the campground can be "unsafe sometimes," without providing specific details. However, this statement should prompt potential visitors to exercise caution and consider their personal safety and security when deciding to stay at Spring Lake Campground.
An environmental factor to be aware of is the campground's susceptibility to flooding. One reviewer warned that the "place will flood if Mississippi River comes up," advising campers to be prepared to move their RVs in such an event. Given Burlington's proximity to the Mississippi River, this is a significant risk that local campers should take into account, especially during periods of high water levels.
The negative experiences shared by reviewers are quite strong, with one stating that staying at Spring Lake Campground was "absolutely miserable" and explicitly recommending that travel nurses avoid it. Another reviewer went so far as to say they would give the place zero or negative stars if possible, strongly advising others to "save your money and stay home or find any place else to be then here." These emphatic statements underscore the severity of the issues encountered by these campers.
The mention of a maintenance manager allegedly "trying to peek in our windows" adds another layer of concern regarding privacy and a sense of security at the campground. Such behavior would understandably create discomfort and a feeling of being unwelcome for guests.
Given the consistent and serious nature of the negative feedback regarding management behavior, unsafe water conditions, lack of amenities, challenging site conditions, potential safety issues, and the risk of flooding, local users searching for "camping near me" should approach Spring Lake Campground with extreme caution. While the campground is located in Burlington, IA, the numerous issues raised by multiple reviewers suggest that it may not offer a positive or reliable camping experience. It is strongly recommended that potential visitors seek alternative campgrounds in the area that have received more favorable and consistent positive reviews regarding management, facilities, safety, and overall guest experience.
Due to the overwhelming negative feedback and the serious nature of the concerns raised, including potentially unsafe water and unprofessional management, there is no positive promotional information to objectively present for Spring Lake Campground based on the provided reviews. Instead, this introduction serves as a cautionary overview based on the experiences shared by past visitors. Local campers are advised to thoroughly research other options in the "camping near me" category to ensure a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable outdoor experience.

Spring Lake Campground Reviews
Stayed here for while when doing contract in the area. Based on my experience and dealing with the manager whom tries to act like a bully. Never had issue with any dozens of rv parks in the past like I did with springlake campground. Anyways don't let the manager bully you, remind her that she is running a business in Iowa and we'll law's apply even when she having a tantrum.Anyways lots are not level, water is unsafe to drink (county health department will test eater specimens if you ask them fyi), water is full of sediment so will clog your rv lines or filter, water pressure is low, parking is tight, space to move camper is tight, no amenities, unsafe sometimes, etc.Place will flood if Mississippi River comes up so be prepared to move camper out if it does. Will post some pics of flooding plus petty notes and threats manager left on camper.Anyways beware. I've been ER travel nurse since 2016 and staying at spring lake campground was absolutely miserable for me. I would not recommend any travel nurses stay there for sure.
Nov 22, 2024 · Corey BlantonIf I could give this place zero stars or negative I would, because I have never been treated so rudely and so inconceivably and consciously disrespectful in my whole life! Manager Cindy here decided to after telling us we had until noon the following day because our paycheck was late due to we are working on the road and our paycheck was running a little behind told us we could wait and pay until noon the next day. But instead seeing my boyfriend leaving for work at 5:38 in the morning and proceeded to tell us we had to leave because she checked her box and the money wasn't there. I asked her if she realized it was 5:38 in the morning and no banks were possibly open this early she didn't seem to care she wanted us to go and threaten to call the sheriffs if we weren't out by noon. This is not our first encounter with this woman not to mention the fact that the water is on drinkable the restrooms are closed everything looks deserted and run down and dilapidated around here and she is constantly finding something to b**** about every day. On top of all these things she has her maintenance manager that drives by a daily trying to peek in our windows trying to see what we're doing in our house when we're here it's very obtrusive and considerate and this place gets no stars from me I would not recommend this to any place or anyone for any type of reason. She is a miserable old woman and will find any reason to try to push you away and make your time here not pleasant. If I were you I would save your money and stay home or find any place else to be then here.
Dec 18, 2024 · Melissa EvansI would avoid this place as far as campgrounds or rv parks go. It for sure is not an RV park. The RV spots are not level at all. The water is unsafe to drink and even shower in. The sewer, water, and electric connections are on odd sides. There are many copperhead moccasins there that will and do get in some crevices on the rv's so be careful. There are no amenities, no laundry, nothing really. However do to the very unprofessional conduct of Cindy towards our employees working the area, my company will not allow future employees to stay at this rv park while doing jobs in the area.
Oct 25, 2024 · Stoneheart Group LLCLooking for RV parks, and thought to give this one a try. I guess should have read the reviews. Husband pulled into place and about 5 minutes was all it took to pull right back out. Place is a dump for sure. Lady or manager that owns place was rude too. I think Cindee was her name. Only accepts cash and nothing else. This is the equivalent of a one star hotel for sure.
Aug 10, 2024 · Skye SellersVisit to trouble shooting rv problems, camping ground not what you see in photos on a search. Fact is half, if you know the area are outside campground. Photos of hunters on shore at camp ground, any hunter knows you can not hunt that close to houses. They are staged. The maintenance man is all up you your face. He seem to spend more time trash talking and/or trying to make a deal on something someone has. The last maintenance man he says let go cause of theft. Operator wants cash only, that a red flag nowadays. Prices are lower than other, but like other things you get what you pay for
