Elkhart County 4-H Campground Introduce
For local residents of the Goshen, Indiana area searching for "camping near me," the Elkhart County 4-H Campground, located at Beef and Dairy Arena, 17746-D County Rd 34, Goshen, IN 46528, USA, presents a camping option associated with the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds. Based on the limited customer reviews available, there appear to be significant discrepancies in the experiences reported, suggesting that the suitability of this campground might depend on the specific circumstances of the visit. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview based on these contrasting reviews, highlighting both potential positives and significant negatives that prospective campers should consider.
The environment of the Elkhart County 4-H Campground is inherently tied to its location within the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds. One reviewer who visited for an RV owners rally described the facility as "the nicest county fairgrounds I have ever visited," suggesting a well-maintained and potentially spacious environment, at least in the context of fairground facilities. This could imply well-kept grounds and possibly easy access to the amenities associated with the fairgrounds. However, another reviewer who stayed for a longer period ($1200 a month) painted a less favorable picture, noting that the "sites have little room" and that despite the park being at low capacity (10%), "all the rigs right on top of each other." This indicates a potentially crowded and less private camping experience, at least in certain areas or under certain management practices. The specific environment might vary depending on the location within the fairgrounds and the time of year, potentially being more spacious during non-event periods but more congested when rallies or events are taking place. Local users considering this "camping near me" option should be aware that the environment might not consistently offer space and privacy.
The services at Elkhart County 4-H Campground appear to have significant issues based on one detailed negative review. This reviewer reported that upon arrival, "none of the hookups worked right," with a "water nozzle broken" and the "20a didn’t work." This lack of functional basic utilities is a serious concern for RV campers relying on these hookups. The same reviewer also mentioned an issue with dump point access, stating that a neighbor was using two dump points, and the administration "wouldn’t ask them to let us use ours," indicating potential mismanagement or lack of consideration for other campers' needs. Furthermore, the broken 20-amp service allegedly led to frozen water hoses overnight, resulting in additional inconvenience and potential damage. In stark contrast, the positive review from the rally attendee focused on the overall facility being "first class," which might imply adequate services were available for the specific event they were attending. This discrepancy suggests that the quality and reliability of services at the Elkhart County 4-H Campground might be inconsistent or that certain services are more geared towards large events rather than individual, longer-term stays. The unusable Wi-Fi reported by the negative reviewer is another significant drawback for campers needing internet access. Local users considering this "camping near me" option should be aware of the potential for unreliable utility hookups and other service-related issues, especially for individual or longer-term stays.
The features of Elkhart County 4-H Campground are somewhat ambiguous based on the limited and contrasting reviews. The positive review highlighting a "first class facility" in the context of a rally suggests that the fairgrounds might offer good infrastructure and amenities suitable for large events. This could include spacious gathering areas, well-maintained grounds, and potentially access to fairground facilities. However, the negative review paints a different picture for individual RV campers. The "little room" at the sites and the close proximity of rigs, even when the park was mostly empty, are significant negative features impacting comfort and privacy. The non-functional utility hookups (water and electricity) are major drawbacks. The issue with dump point access and the unusable Wi-Fi further detract from the features that would typically make a campground appealing. The fact that a camper was charged "$1200 a month" for a spot with these issues suggests a poor value proposition. The discrepancy between the positive rally experience and the negative individual experience indicates that the features and overall quality might vary significantly depending on the type of visit. Local users considering this "camping near me" option should carefully weigh these contrasting perspectives and consider whether the features offered align with their specific camping needs.
There is no specific promotional information provided for Elkhart County 4-H Campground in the given text. The reviews focus on the experiences of past visitors rather than any ongoing offers or discounts. Local users interested in potential promotions, especially for longer stays or during non-event periods, would need to contact the Elkhart County 4-H Campground directly using the provided phone numbers: (574) 533-3247 or +1 574-533-3247. It is possible that rates and services vary depending on whether there are events taking place at the fairgrounds. Inquiring about daily, weekly, and monthly rates, as well as the availability and reliability of hookups and other amenities, would be essential for local users considering this "camping near me" option. Without any promotional details in the reviews, direct communication with the campground management is the best way to obtain this information.
In conclusion, for local residents of Goshen, IN, searching for "camping near me," the Elkhart County 4-H Campground presents a mixed picture based on the limited available reviews. While one visitor attending a rally described the facility as "first class," another camper who stayed longer reported significant issues with non-functional utility hookups, crowded sites even at low capacity, problems with dump point access, and unusable Wi-Fi, all at a high monthly rate. This stark contrast suggests that the experience at this campground can vary greatly. Local users considering this option should be aware of the potential for unreliable services and a less-than-ideal camping environment, especially for individual or longer-term stays. It is strongly recommended to contact the campground directly to inquire about the current status of amenities, site availability, and pricing, and to seek more recent reviews from campers with experiences similar to their intended stay (e.g., individual RV camping vs. rally participation) to make an informed decision about whether Elkhart County 4-H Campground meets their "camping near me" needs.

Elkhart County 4-H Campground Reviews
Showed up and none of the hookups worked right, water nozzle was broken and 20a didn’t work. Neighbor was using two dump points and admin wouldn’t ask them to let us use ours. Didn’t know that the 20a was broken and that’s where heated hose was plugged in, water froze that night. $1200 a month for this spot, sites have little room and despite the park being at 10% capacity put all the rigs right on top of each other. WiFi was unusable. Do not recommend.
