The Garden Campground Introduce
For those searching for "camping near me" in the Elkhart, Indiana area, The Garden Campground, located at 3075 W Belvedere Rd, Elkhart, IN 46514, USA, is a potential option to consider. They can be reached by phone at (574) 266-2121 or their mobile number +1 574-266-2121 for inquiries about availability and services.
Based on recent customer reviews, experiences at The Garden Campground appear to be mixed, with significant concerns raised by some visitors. One reviewer who stayed for 25 days expressed a strong disappointment with their experience, despite initially wanting to like the concept of the place. They mentioned that they chose this campground due to limited options being open at the time but moved as soon as they could. This suggests that availability might be a factor for some choosing this location, particularly early in the season.
The reviewer highlighted several negative aspects of the campground environment. They found the online pictures to be misleading. The roads were described as asphalt millings, which made it difficult to keep things clean, especially inside their camper. Additionally, they reported that the campground turned into a marshland every time it rained, indicating potential drainage issues. A significant cleanliness concern was the pervasive presence of dog poop throughout the grassy areas, suggesting a lack of adherence to pet waste management by some visitors and potentially insufficient enforcement.
Safety and noise were also points of concern for this reviewer. They noted that the police were present on multiple occasions (more than five times) during their 25-day stay, often related to a couple two campers down from them who were frequently fighting and screaming. This raises questions about the overall peace and security of the campground environment. The reviewer ultimately concluded that while the price might be okay, it would be worth paying extra to stay somewhere cleaner and safer.
On a more positive note from the same review, the laundry facility was mentioned as being new and very clean, which could be a significant amenity for travelers needing to do laundry during their stay. This suggests that some facilities at The Garden Campground are well-maintained.
Another review shared a brief but negative experience regarding customer service. A visitor who was in Elkhart for a quick RV repair asked to pay a fee to fill their water tank but was refused. While they found the person they initially spoke with to be nice, they reported that the supervisor was not helpful. As a result of this refusal, the reviewer stated they would not stay at The Garden Campground in the future, despite often being in Elkhart for several days. They pointed out that water can be hard to find at certain times of the year in that area, implying that the campground's inflexibility on this matter was particularly unhelpful.
Considering these reviews, local users searching for "camping near me" should be aware of the potential downsides reported at The Garden Campground, including issues with cleanliness (dog waste), ground conditions after rain, noise and safety concerns (frequent police presence), and potentially unaccommodating customer service regarding basic needs like filling a water tank. However, the presence of a new and clean laundry facility is a noted positive aspect.
For those who prioritize cleanliness, a peaceful environment, and reliable customer service when looking for "camping near me," the feedback suggests caution regarding The Garden Campground. While the price is mentioned as being "okay" by one reviewer, they also advised that the potential drawbacks might outweigh the savings. If you are considering this campground, it may be wise to inquire directly about their current conditions, pet policies, security measures, and the availability of essential services like water filling to see if they align with your needs and expectations. The fact that one reviewer felt the online pictures were misleading also suggests that a direct inquiry or perhaps seeking more recent, unbiased information might be beneficial before making a decision.
In conclusion, The Garden Campground in Elkhart, IN, has received reviews indicating potential challenges related to cleanliness, ground conditions, safety, and customer service. While it offers a new and clean laundry facility, prospective campers, especially those seeking "camping near me" for longer stays or with specific expectations for the camping environment, should weigh these reported issues carefully and consider contacting the campground directly for more information.

The Garden Campground Reviews
I really wanted to like the concept of this place, but it was just not great. I do believe the staff is trying their best to get things turned around, but until then I wouldn’t stay here. We chose this camp because nothing else opened until April 1st, but moved as soon as we could. The pictures online are misleading. Roads are asphalt millings, so it’s impossible to keep anything clean, especially the inside of the camper. Every time it rains the place turns into a marshland. The site pictured was the site we had. No one picks up after their dogs, so poop is literally in every square inch that there is grass. The cops were there 5+ times in our 25 day stay, mostly for the couple 2 campers down from us constantly fighting and screaming at each other. It was just not a great stay. On a positive note, the laundry facility was new, and very clean. The price is okay, but it’s worth it to pay extra to stay somewhere cleaner and safer.
Mar 30, 2024 · Kayla TWas in Elkhart for a quick RV repair and asked if I could pay a fee to fill my water tank and was refused. The guy I spoke to was nice but apparently the supervisor wasn’t very helpful. There are other times I stay in Elkhart for several days, but won’t stay here. They could have easily charged me a few bucks to fill. Water is hard to find this time of year in these parts.
Feb 06, 2025 · Curt MaddonThe Garden Campground in Elkhart presents itself as an RV camping option, but it deviates significantly from the traditional campground experience. Situated adjacent to the Indiana Toll Road and a hotel, the location creates an atmosphere more akin to a parking lot than a nature retreat. While the campground may offer basic amenities like hookups, it falls short in providing the ambiance and tranquility that campers typically seek. The constant noise pollution from the nearby highway detracts from the experience, and the lack of natural landscaping or privacy features leaves much to be desired. The rise in the transient population in the area since the campground's opening is a noteworthy concern. The sight of individuals, presumably experiencing homelessness, leaving the campground to panhandle in the mornings can be unsettling but it's the normal. It is important to acknowledge that The Garden Campground may serve a purpose for overnight travelers seeking a convenient stop with basic utilities. However, it cannot be recommended to those seeking a genuine camping experience characterized by natural beauty, peaceful surroundings, and a sense of community.
Oct 27, 2024 · Shelby HussThe staff here are awesome!!! Rachael and Pat were so accommodating and helpful. The sites are new, clean, have 50 amp power, water, and sewer. The water pressure was pretty low. The only real downfall is the sewer, as the stubs are a bit high and don’t allow for efficient waste tank draining. It appears there was an engineering oversight. It took me about 20 minutes to figure out a workable (but not ideal) solution. If you’re looking for someplace quiet, this isn’t it, as the highway noise is constant. But the price of $56 including tax is very reasonable. And, again, the staff were awesome!!!
Jun 20, 2023 · George NicholaouThis place was a godsend. Me and my partner ran out of water as we were traveling through Elkhart and no one could offer us water for our van and this was the only place out of 15 places I called. Andrea was absolutely sweet and super helpful. Bless the owner and their kind heart for allowing us to stock up on some water without having to stay.
