Cottonwood Camp Ground Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" in the Ligonier, Indiana area that offers a straightforward and budget-conscious experience? Cottonwood Camp Ground, located at 1767 W US Hwy 6, Ligonier, IN 46767, USA, might be the option you're considering. Based on available information, Cottonwood Camp Ground appears to be a no-frills camping location catering to those seeking a basic site for tents or RVs while exploring the surrounding area. It is presented as a budget-friendly choice, particularly suitable for weekend plans when your focus is on activities and events in the vicinity rather than extensive campground amenities.
One review describes Cottonwood as a "blessing over the years," highlighting its utility for accommodating family visiting from out of state who needed a simple place to park their motorhome for a short period. This suggests that the campground can serve as a practical and economical solution for those needing temporary accommodation for RVs. The reviewer specifically mentions it as a "No frills camping location providing a basic tent or RV location for weekend plans in the area" and emphasizes its "Budget freindly option when you have more important things to focus on." This paints a picture of a campground that prioritizes affordability and functionality over extensive amenities or luxurious facilities.
However, it's important to consider all available feedback to form an objective understanding. Another review recounts a significantly negative experience involving a truck breakdown and a request for temporary parking while awaiting a tow truck. The reviewer details an interaction with the "manager" and the park owner, stating that they were allegedly denied permission to wait on the property, despite the truck being immobile due to overheating and the reviewer's willingness to pay for a short period of parking. This negative review claims that the refusal to allow temporary parking led to further complications and damage to the vehicle. The reviewer strongly advises against staying at the campground based on this experience, expressing concerns about the management's willingness to assist with even simple requests.
Considering these contrasting perspectives, it's evident that Cottonwood Camp Ground is perceived differently by different individuals based on their specific needs and interactions. For those seeking a basic and affordable place to park an RV or set up a tent for a weekend while focusing on nearby attractions, it may serve its purpose adequately. The emphasis on being a "budget friendly option" suggests that the pricing structure is likely a key feature for this campground.
However, the serious negative experience reported regarding the handling of a vehicle breakdown raises concerns about the campground's flexibility and customer service in unexpected situations. While this might be an isolated incident, it is crucial for potential visitors to be aware of this feedback. The stark contrast between the two reviews highlights the importance of considering individual priorities and potential needs when choosing a campground.
Based on the available information, Cottonwood Camp Ground appears to offer:
- Basic tent and RV camping sites.
- A budget-friendly option for accommodation in the Ligonier area.
- Potentially suitable for short weekend stays or temporary parking needs (as indicated by one positive review).
However, potential campers should also be aware of the negative review detailing an unhelpful response to a vehicle emergency on the property. This suggests that the level of assistance or flexibility in unforeseen circumstances might be limited.
Given the limited information available online, it's challenging to provide a comprehensive overview of the environment, specific services, and features of Cottonwood Camp Ground. The positive review focuses on its basic functionality and affordability, while the negative review centers on a customer service issue. There is no mention of specific amenities such as restrooms, showers, fire pits, picnic tables, or recreational facilities. Therefore, local users searching for "camping near me" at Cottonwood Camp Ground should likely expect a no-frills experience focused on providing a basic campsite.
If you are primarily looking for an inexpensive place to park your RV or pitch a tent while you explore the Ligonier area and are less concerned with extensive campground amenities or potential for support in unexpected situations, Cottonwood Camp Ground might be a viable option to consider, particularly given the positive feedback regarding its budget-friendly nature. However, the negative review serves as a cautionary note regarding potential customer service experiences.
To gain a clearer understanding of the current services, environment, and any promotional information, it would be advisable to contact Cottonwood Camp Ground directly at (574) 457-4389 or +1 574-457-4389. Speaking with the management may provide further insights into what the campground currently offers and allow you to address any specific concerns based on the available reviews. When considering "camping near me," it's always beneficial to gather the most up-to-date information to ensure the campground meets your individual needs and expectations.
In conclusion, Cottonwood Camp Ground presents itself as a budget-friendly, basic camping option in Ligonier, Indiana. While one reviewer found it to be a helpful and affordable solution for temporary RV parking, another reported a very negative experience regarding customer service during a vehicle breakdown. Potential campers should weigh these perspectives and consider their own priorities when deciding if Cottonwood Camp Ground is the right choice for their "camping near me" needs.

Cottonwood Camp Ground Reviews
Did not stay, but had a very bad experience with the "manager" and unpleasant conversation with the park owner. I was working to make a deliver when my truck broke down. For safty reasons I pulled off of the busy highway, US 6, and then into the large empty drive of the campground. I had a 25 foot trailer so this worked well due to the drive being built for campers to maneuver. I then went to the park manager and explained my truck was overheating and I couldn't move my truck and asked to wait here till a tow truck arrived. She did not allow me to stay and continued to tell me to leave dispite not being able to drive more than 100 yards with out overheating and stalling.I then called the campground owner and talked to her. She was originally going to charge me for parking, but then changed her mind saying there was not room. I would have been happy to pay for a hour of parking. This caused me alot of trouble trying to slowly ( 100 yards at a time) find a safe place to park. They claimed there was no room to park and aggressively asked me to leave. I did so to avoid any more conflict and this caused extensive damage to my truck (cracked radiator). It is very sad that the owner and manager couldn't even help someone for just 1.5 hours... Dispite willingness to pay for the parking time. For this reason I would never stay at this campground and truly do not recommend anyone else to do so. I can only imagine the future problems you would have if the management is this unwilling to help with something as simple as a parking spot.
Jun 10, 2019 · Shori GerardotThis place has been a blessing over the years, most recently I had family come up from Florida for a wedding. They just needed a place to park the motorhome for a few bucks. Cottonwood is a No frills camping location providing a basic tent or RV location for weekend plans in the area. This is a Budget freindly option when you have more important things to focus on. Keep up the good work Cottonwood!
Aug 20, 2022 · Simon Terry KingThis is an extremely basic campground. I camp here when spending the weekends hunting or fishing on the lakes. The rates are super cheap which is ideal when you are spending all of your time away from camp. This is not a "family fun" campground with stuff for the kids to do. It's essentially a lawn with some trees that you can pull a camper on to crash. Also, its right on a somewhat busy road so there can be traffic noise. Its been two years since my last visit but Mark used to be the caretaker and he is a great guy.
Jun 09, 2017 · Michael BenninghoffSummer-long campers were allowed to park their rv sideways blocking part of ours. Their 2 chiwawas roamed off leash when out & though generally stayed on their site, would head elsewhere to poop, and no clean up. Were allowed many more guests than rules allowed. I guess for some, rules are allowed to be broken.
Jun 15, 2017 · Tim StergiosWho needs Yellow Stone National Park when you have Cottonwood Campgrounds. I have never personally stayed at Cottonwood due to the fact that I do not own a camper but I have passed it a countless number of times on trips. For years passing Cottonwood has never failed to be the highlight of my road trips through Indiana. It rests in a convenient location between Ligoneer and Napanee, and folks traveling through the area will never be let down by the intriguing culture of the Amish. It is my dream that one day I can spend the night on that quarter-mile strip of grass and listen to the inconsistent passing of cars throughout the night. I love you Cottonwood Campgrounds.
