Farm Island Lake Resort Introduce
For local residents seeking "camping near me" in the Aitkin, Minnesota area, Farm Island Lake Resort, located at 29551 Pioneer Ave, Aitkin, MN 56431, presents a compelling option for a lakeside retreat. Situated on the shores of the Great Farm Island Lake, this resort offers a blend of RV camping with spacious sites and charming cabin rentals, catering to various preferences for enjoying the natural beauty of central Minnesota. While recent reviews provide generally positive feedback, they also highlight a few areas potential visitors should be aware of.
The environment of Farm Island Lake Resort is undoubtedly its primary draw, being located directly on the shores of Farm Island Lake. This "Great Lake," as described by a reviewer, suggests a significant body of water offering scenic views and opportunities for lake-related activities. For those staying in the cabins, the experience is particularly immersive, with cabins situated "right close to the water" and featuring stairs leading down to the dock. This proximity allows for beautiful lake views directly from the cabin, enhancing the sense of tranquility and connection with nature. The water itself is noted to be "quite clear," which is a desirable feature for swimming and enjoying the lake environment. For RV campers, the resort offers "plenty of yard space" at each site, providing room for outdoor living and a less cramped experience compared to some RV parks. The presence of mature trees and the overall lakeside setting likely contribute to a relaxing and picturesque environment for all guests.
Farm Island Lake Resort offers a range of services and amenities to accommodate both RV campers and cabin renters. For RVers, the availability of spacious sites with ample yard space is a significant plus. The fact that a long-term guest felt comfortable burying their electric cord indicates a degree of flexibility and space not always found in RV parks. However, one reviewer noted "issues with maintenance such as docks and guest showers/restrooms," suggesting that these facilities might be in need of attention. If your RV is self-contained with its own bathroom and shower, this might not be a major concern, but it's a crucial point for those relying on campground facilities. For cabin guests, the convenience of parking a car next to the cabin is a definite advantage. The resort also features a "big flat open area to park your trailer/boat," indicating that it caters to those bringing watercraft. A boat ramp with "just the right slope to put your boat in" is another valuable amenity for lake enthusiasts, providing easy access to Farm Island Lake for boating, fishing, and other water activities. While the current owners are described as elderly, their long tenure suggests a commitment to running the resort, although the maintenance issues indicate potential limitations in keeping up with all aspects. One reviewer expressed a desire for additional amenities like boat/pontoon rentals, which are not currently mentioned as being available.
The key features of Farm Island Lake Resort include its direct lakefront location, offering easy access to Farm Island Lake and beautiful views. The availability of both spacious RV sites and lakeside cabin rentals provides options for different types of travelers. The boat ramp is a significant feature for those wishing to enjoy boating on the lake. The positive feedback regarding the cleanliness of both the RV park and the cabins is a notable feature, contributing to a comfortable stay. The spaciousness of the RV sites, with ample yard space, allows for a more relaxed outdoor living experience. For cabin renters, the immediate proximity to the water and private docks (implied by stairs down to the dock) are highly desirable features. The resort's long history under the current management, despite recent challenges, suggests a degree of established charm and a loyal customer base. The welcoming attitude towards socializing around campfires, as mentioned by a long-term RV guest, indicates a potentially friendly and community-oriented atmosphere, although this might depend on individual neighbors.

The resort's address on Pioneer Ave indicates it is likely accessible by road, making it convenient for local residents. The surrounding area may offer additional attractions and natural areas to explore. The fact that guests return year after year, as mentioned in one review, speaks to the appeal of the location and the resort itself.

Farm Island Lake Resort Reviews
We are currently staying here for the summer in our 40ft 5th wheel with multiple slide outs. Each RV spot has plenty of yard space. We buried our electric cord to keep away from mower blades. We have planters around our camper and told him we’d weed whip close so he doesn’t have to get close to the camper. I was hesitant too about staying here after reading the reviews but honestly we haven’t had any problems. We are in our early 50’s and our friends that are the same age stay here too. We do like to stay up late and socialize around the campfire as do our neighbors. We aren’t exactly quiet but aren’t party animals and have never had an issue. There are issues with maintenance such as docks and guest showers/restrooms. If your RV doesn’t have these it would be a problem. The owners are elderly and can’t keep up I feel. I wish they had boat/pontoon rentals and other amenities the bigger resorts do. But don’t worry about staying here based on a couple bad reviews. Clean, decent RV park on a Great Lake.
Jul 24, 2019 · Bridget DennyWe have been going to this resort since Rick & Babs took it over. We have enjoyed it very much. We stay in one of the cabins. The cabins sit right close to the water with stairs down to the dock. You have a beautiful view of the lake right from the cabin. Cabins are always clean and you can park car next to cabin. There is a big flat open area to park your trailer/boat. Boat ramp has just the right slope to put your boat in. Water is quite clear. We were deeply sorry to hear of the passing of one of the owners - Babs. She will be missed by all. Our hearts go out to the family.
Sep 04, 2021 · Peg KellyWe stayed here over the 4th with friends and kids, such a clean resort and the owners are very friendly! Everyone in the resort was friendly. The kids loved the beach and the playground, we felt very safe letting them explore! Fire pits and large yard areas around each RV site!
Jul 10, 2017 · Kari StielowRick? And babs are totally unprofessional. Rick is off the chain for his temper. He rannover our extention chord withbhis lawn mower while it was tucked under the camper. And came unglued about our chord wrecking his belt... Well that chord powers my camper. And wrecked everything in the fridgeband freezer. Leaving me withba bloody thawed out stinky mess. In thebmiddle of summer. They also snuck in an extra charge atvthe end pf our stay since we used the "free" shower house listed as an amenity and then called the sherrifs dept when we tried to dispute it. Peacefully mind you. We also got yelled at for leaving our camper at 7bpm and returning around 10 pm from the gym. Apparently you cant have your cars warm up in the morning because of rick and babs and fellow tennants complain. Ive stayed in over 15 dofferent campsites in the last 5 years. We kept the lot neat and tidy. Left no reason for them to mess with us. And yet thisbhappens to be the worst place I've seen. Not to mention ibasked to rent a boat. Everybtime rick said they're all used. And none of their boats never touched the water. The ad is very deceiving. Seemed to be a nice place. These people are too old and dont deserve loyal customers. Maybe its time they hang it up and sell the resort to a deserving person. Beautiful lake and woods. Horrible owners. I will be sure to go out of my way to tell people how unpleasant this place is. If I could I'd rate it 0/100 but Google gives them the benefit of the doubt. Dont go here. Ripple river in Aitkin is the place to go.
Jan 31, 2018 · Tyler MolitorI stayed here while I was working. The owners are mean and rude especially the guy. I have woken up to go to work stepped outside to have him swearing at me about my water hook up being in the way of his mowing. Your not aloud to use the bath house, they must just use it as a way to get people there. There was nothing good about this place. Stayed at a lot of place but this one is the worse.
