Figueroa Campground appears to be a well-regarded camping destination, praised for its spacious campsites and well-maintained facilities. According to visitor reviews, the toilet facilities are kept in good condition, which is often a significant factor for camper comfort. The individual campsites are described as huge, offering ample space for setting up camp and enjoying the surroundings. However, it's worth noting that parking might be somewhat limited, potentially posing a challenge for groups with multiple large vehicles, as one review mentioned difficulty accommodating two SUVs.
The environment of Figueroa Campground is characterized by its high elevation location on Figueroa Mountain. This elevation contributes to variable weather conditions, as noted by a reviewer who mentioned the weather depending on cloud cover. Campers should be prepared for potential temperature fluctuations and the possibility of being in or above the clouds, which could offer unique scenic views. The area can also be windy, particularly at night, which is something to consider when setting up tents and securing belongings. Additionally, bugs, especially in the morning and later evening, can be quite annoying, suggesting that insect repellent might be a necessary item for campers visiting Figueroa Campground.
In terms of services and infrastructure, Figueroa Campground offers some notable amenities. The presence of "great pit toilets" indicates that restroom facilities are available and well-maintained. The friendly campground host is also a significant positive aspect, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. It's important to note that tap water may not be available at all campsites, as one reviewer mentioned their first experience camping without it was not a problem at Figueroa. Campers should verify water availability for their specific site and come prepared with an adequate supply if necessary or have a plan for water purification if natural sources are accessible (though not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews for this campground). The individual campsites are a key feature, offering dedicated space for each camping party.
Key features of Figueroa Campground include its large and spacious campsites, the well-maintained toilet facilities, and the friendly campground host. The high elevation setting offers potential for scenic views and variable weather conditions. While not explicitly stated, the fact that it's a designated campground suggests the presence of designated parking areas (though potentially limited for multiple vehicles per site), fire rings or picnic tables (common in established campgrounds), and possibly marked trails or other amenities typical of developed camping areas. The campground's popularity is evident from the mention of it being nicely busy on weekends but eerily quiet on weekdays, indicating a potentially different atmosphere depending on the time of visit.
Promotional information for Figueroa Campground is somewhat implied through the positive reviews, highlighting its desirable aspects such as spaciousness, cleanliness, and friendly service. Figueroa Campground Reviews
Great spot to camp. Toilets were well maintained. Sites were huge, but parking was pushing it for 2 SUV's. It was pretty windy at night and the bugs in the morning and later evening could be quite annoying.
May 28, 2024 · Garrett LopezSuper friendly campground host, great pit toilets, our first time camping with no tap water, not a problem. The campground was nicely busy but not overcrowded on weekend. It was eerily quiet in weekdays, spooked us a little the first night. High elevation, so the weather varies depending on whether you're in the cloud or not. Great individual sites. 30 minutes drive to nearest town.
Jun 15, 2023 · Roger TBeautiful campground with oak and manzanita everywhere. Large sites spaced mostly far apart, with well maintained camp tables and fire pits. You can often get firewood from the camp host. There is absolutely no water at the site, so make sure to bring plenty. We had zero bugs, but apparently there can be biting flies in hot weather. Highly recommended.
May 28, 2023 · Doug ThomasWe typically choose dispersed camping but it’s difficult to find nice spots close to LA, especially for tents. This campsite allows you to feel safe around other campers without compromising those wilderness vibes. The views en route are stunning! Just be prepared for the drive up the narrow mountain road (you can park where you camp). We arrived at 2am and were able to set up in a big space with a grill rack and fire ring then pay the $32 nightly fee when the host did their rounds the following day. Downside is there are A LOT of flies so we didn’t hang around as long as we might’ve done otherwise.
May 23, 2023 · HannahPretty cool and woodsy camping site, deer meander here too. It’s about 40 minutes from Solvang. A short drive back out & past the fire station is a great overlook. We could see the cloud cover below obstructing the ocean but we still experienced a lovely sunset there among the old oaks. And two miles up from the campsite is a fire road to the summit. We had a new moon during our stay so it was pitch dark in the evening and we’re able capture the Milky Way off the side of the campsite but you can still experience it from camp if you walk to an area where the trees are a little bit dispersed. The only downside is that there were a ridiculous amount of gnats during the daytime. Other than that, the place is nice & far enough from civilization to enjoy a few days among nature.
