Fish Lake Campground Cle Elum Introduce
For local users in search of "camping near me" in the Cle Elum area of Washington State, Fish Lake Campground presents a unique opportunity for a more secluded and nature-focused camping experience. Located approximately 11 miles past Salmon La Sac Campground on Forest Road 4330, this campground offers a sense of remoteness and tranquility, as highlighted by a recent visitor who enjoyed four nights without any neighbors.
The environment surrounding Fish Lake Campground is characterized by its natural beauty and relative isolation. The campground is accessed via Forest Road 4330, which is described as being all gravel and requiring a water crossing. This suggests that the location is somewhat off the beaten path, contributing to its peaceful atmosphere. The presence of Fish Lake itself is a significant environmental feature, offering opportunities for fishing and boating. One reviewer mentioned being out on the lake for 3.5 hours and successfully catching fish, indicating that the lake is a viable spot for anglers. The availability of boat rentals further enhances the recreational opportunities associated with the lake environment.
The campground itself has specific features that potential visitors should be aware of. Notably, the campsites are walk-in sites, meaning that campers will need to carry their gear from their vehicle to their chosen site. This characteristic caters to those who prefer a more immersive experience in nature and are comfortable with a short trek. The campground offers five well-spaced sites, providing a good degree of privacy between camping groups. Each site is equipped with essential amenities, including fire rings for campfires and picnic tables for outdoor dining and gathering. Additionally, a couple of the sites feature prep tables, offering added convenience for meal preparation.
In terms of services, Fish Lake Campground provides a vault toilet to meet basic sanitation needs. It's important to note that this is a more rustic amenity compared to flush toilets often found in more developed campgrounds. The review mentioning boat rentals suggests that there might be a local operator or the campground itself offers this service, providing a way to explore Fish Lake. The positive interaction with the "owner" who generously gave a child a tackle box indicates a potentially friendly and community-oriented management style, although this is based on a single anecdote.
One aspect of the environment that visitors should be prepared for is the presence of mosquitoes, as noted by a reviewer who stayed in late June 2023. While the reviewer stated that the mosquitoes were "not a crazy amount," it is still advisable to bring insect repellent, especially during the warmer months, to ensure a comfortable experience. The timing of this review (late June) might suggest that mosquito activity could be higher during the peak summer season.
The features of Fish Lake Campground cater to a specific type of camper – one who values tranquility, is comfortable with a walk-in campsite, and appreciates access to fishing and boating opportunities in a more remote setting. The well-spaced sites and the provision of fire rings and picnic tables ensure a degree of comfort within a natural environment. The presence of a vault toilet addresses basic needs without the infrastructure of more developed campgrounds.
Promotional information for Fish Lake Campground should emphasize its key attractions for local users seeking "camping near me" with a focus on nature and seclusion. The opportunity to camp in a peaceful setting, with the possibility of having no neighbors, as one reviewer experienced, is a significant draw for those looking to escape crowded campgrounds. The access to Fish Lake for fishing and boating, coupled with the scenic beauty of the surrounding area, should be highlighted. The fact that the sites are well-spaced, offering privacy, is another appealing feature.
Potential promotional angles could include: "Escape the Crowds at Fish Lake Campground," "Your Tranquil Fishing and Boating Getaway Near Cle Elum," or "Experience Secluded Camping in the Natural Beauty of Fish Lake." The mention of boat rentals should be included to attract those interested in water activities. While the walk-in nature of the sites might deter some, it should be framed as an opportunity for a more immersive and less developed camping experience for those who seek it.
It would also be beneficial to provide more information about the water crossing mentioned in the review. Details such as the depth and nature of the crossing (e.g., a shallow stream, a ford) would be crucial for potential visitors to assess whether their vehicle is suitable for accessing the campground. Information about the best time to visit to minimize mosquito activity (if available) could also be helpful.
In conclusion, Fish Lake Campground near Cle Elum offers a unique "camping near me" experience for local users who prioritize a remote and peaceful setting with opportunities for fishing and boating. The walk-in campsites and the need to cross some water to reach the location contribute to its secluded nature. While basic amenities like a vault toilet are provided, the main draws are the natural environment, the lake access, and the potential for a tranquil camping experience away from the crowds. For those equipped and willing to embrace a more rustic camping style, Fish Lake Campground could be an ideal destination.

Fish Lake Campground Cle Elum Reviews
06/30/2023: Spent the holiday weekend at Fish Lake Campground. Two of us stayed for 4 nights and didn't have any neighbors. Site is located about 11 miles past Salmon La Sac Campground on Forest Road 4330. All gravel and you will need to cross some water. There were mosquitos during our stay, however, not a crazy amount. These are walk in sites so you will need to haul your stuff to your site. There are 5 well spaced sites with rings and picnic tables. A couple sites have prep tables as well. One vault toilet.
Jul 05, 2023 · Darnell KeboGreat place to chill , catch a few fish , rent a boat. We were out today for 3.5 hours . Owner gave my kid a tackle box for free . What a nice present !
Jul 14, 2024 · Motivation DealsJust came back from this area late June 2020. Absolutely beautiful. The flowers, trees, river / lake and mountains with snow on them were incredible. Could see amazing mountain peaks in the distance to the north. The road is a back country old bumpy forest service road. It’s not a maintained highway. If you are coming this far you are looking for a remote spot to enjoy the woods. Enjoy the mountains and beautiful scenery.
Jun 23, 2020 · Eric HamannGreat escape! No cell service at all. Should use 4wd/AWD vehicle once on forest service road. While you can keep cars at your site, you are still roughing it. Bathrooms are a drive away. You can float and fish in lake/river. There is also a cliff jumping spot that is very cool. We did a father/son trip and created great memories. Lastly, stars, holy cow, mind blowing STARS. We had clear nights and no light pollution so they were in full view.
Aug 18, 2020 · John FeistnerNice walk in campground. Don't expect to park by your camp spot. There's a small creek up the hill for water, but you're a good walk away from the Cle Elem river. There are campfire rings in most sites, and there's a pit toilet.
