The campground's location along the river is consistently praised for its serene views and peaceful surroundings, offering a natural escape. The opportunity for riverside views and the sounds of the water contribute to a relaxing atmosphere for many visitors. Furthermore, the location provides direct access to water-based activities. Campers reported bringing boats and kayaks, with docking available along the river. Sightings of kayakers throughout the day were common, and one boater mentioned taking their boat to a sandbar and swimming beach, indicating potential for both leisurely paddling and swimming opportunities directly accessible from the campground.
Cleanliness appears to be another strong point for Fond du Lac Campground, with reviewers mentioning well-kept facilities, including restrooms, campsites, and picnic areas. Maintaining high standards of cleanliness is crucial for a comfortable camping experience, and this positive feedback suggests that the campground takes this aspect seriously.
The natural beauty of the area surrounding Fond du Lac Campground is described as wonderful, with ample privacy reported by some, alongside the riverside views. This combination of natural appeal and a sense of seclusion can be highly attractive to those looking to immerse themselves in nature during their camping trip. The campground also seems to cater to group camping, as one reviewer mentioned renting seven spots (six campsites and one RV site) in the same area, with sufficient room to maneuver even an RV on a back-up site with water and a 30-amp hook-up.
The campground is described by one reviewer as "small" and "cozy," which can be seen as a positive aspect for those seeking a more intimate camping experience. The same reviewer noted that despite its size, there was enough space to avoid feeling bothered by other campers and to minimize any potential disturbance to others. The implementation of a 10 pm quiet time, which was reportedly respected by all campers, suggests an effort to maintain a peaceful environment during sleeping hours.
Recreational activities enjoyed by campers included outdoor games, grilling, and, notably, catching a "huge catfish," indicating potential for fishing in the river adjacent to the campground. This adds to the appeal for those interested in fishing as part of their camping experience.
However, it is crucial to acknowledge a strongly negative review that presents a contrasting perspective. This reviewer described the "campground" as "terrible," "small," and "trashy," complaining about campsites being "literally right on top of each other" with "no space in between." They also reported "ridiculous" noise levels throughout the night and significant road traffic noise that felt intrusive to the campsite, leading to their assessment as the "worst campground" and a "waste of money."
Given these contrasting opinions, local users considering Fond du Lac Campground for their "camping near me" search should be aware that experiences may vary. The positive reviews emphasize the friendly service, riverside location with recreational opportunities like boating, kayaking, and fishing, cleanliness, and the potential for a cozy and relatively quiet stay, especially with the enforced quiet time. On the other hand, the negative review raises concerns about the size and spacing of campsites and potential noise issues from both other campers and nearby road traffic.
As there is no specific promotional information provided in the reviews, local users are encouraged to contact Fond du Lac Campground directly at the provided phone numbers to inquire about campsite sizes and layouts, typical noise levels, specific amenities offered (such as restroom and shower facilities, fire pits, picnic tables), pet policies, reservation procedures, and any current rates or special offers. It would be beneficial to ask for more details about the proximity of campsites to each other and to the road to make an informed decision based on individual preferences for space and quiet.
In conclusion, Fond du Lac Campground in Duluth, MN, offers a riverside location with opportunities for fishing and kayaking, and many reviewers praise its friendly service and cleanliness. However, potential campers should be aware of differing opinions regarding campsite size and potential noise levels. Local users searching for "camping near me" are advised to weigh the positive feedback regarding the natural setting and staff against the negative comments about crowding and noise and to contact the campground directly for detailed information to ensure it meets their specific needs and expectations for a camping experience.

Fond du Lac Campground Reviews
Fond du Lac Campground offers an excellent experience for nature lovers. The campground stands out for its great service—staff are friendly, accommodating, and make sure campers feel welcome. The location is ideal, nestled along the river, offering serene views and peaceful surroundings that provide a perfect escape into nature. The contact-less check-in and checkout process is smooth and easy, ensuring a hassle-free experience from start to finish. In terms of cleanliness, the campground maintains high standards, with well-kept facilities and clean. Whether it's the restrooms, campsites, or picnic areas, everything is well-maintained. The natural beauty of the area is wonderful, with plenty of privacy, riverside views, and opportunities for outdoor activities, making it an ideal spot for relaxation or adventure. We had a large group and rented 7 spots, 6 campsites and 1 RV site, all in the same area. The RV site was a back-up site with water and 30 amp hook-up, we had plenty of room to maneuver. The campground is small, cozy in fact, but there was enough space that we weren't bothered by other campers and we (hopefully) weren't a nuisance to other campers either.Quiet time starts at 10pm and everyone quieted down at that time. We were there for a 14 year-old golden birthday celebration, we played outdoor games, grilled ribs and steaks, and other meats, cooked up quite a fancy feast actually. We caught a huge catfish.Other campers brought their boats and kayaks, we could see them docked along the river. We saw people in kayaks all day long. A couple who had a boat told us they took their boat out to a sandbar and a swimming beach.Overall, highly recommend this campground!
Oct 01, 2024 · Lalinne BellThis "campground" is terrible! It is so small and trashy. The campsites are literally right on top of each other. No space in between campsites. It was awful. The noise was ridiculous all night long. The traffic on the road was so noisy it felt like they were driving right into the campsite. This is the worst campground I've ever stayed at. This was the biggest waste of money.
Sep 02, 2024 · Syndol DuffyWe stayed at one of the camper cabins! It was very nice and clean! There is only one outlet so suggest bringing a power strip. It was warm in July so we had a couple fans to cool the cabin. Shower house was a good facility. A very nice campground overall!

Aug 25, 2024 · Elmartini88Nice campground that was a good mix of rustic while having enough amenities. The cabin was nice and everything it needed to be. Great location with mountain bike trails literally across the road.
