Forest Boundary Campground Introduce
For local outdoor enthusiasts searching for "camping near me" in the Pomeroy, Washington area, Forest Boundary Campground, located in Pomeroy, WA 99347, USA, offers a gateway to the National Forest with specific features and potential drawbacks highlighted by recent visitors. You can contact them at (509) 843-1891 or their mobile number, +1 509-843-1891, for inquiries. Based on the available reviews, this campground provides a base for exploring the surrounding wilderness, particularly for those interested in ATV riding, but it also presents considerations regarding noise and campsite etiquette.
The environment surrounding Forest Boundary Campground is characterized by its direct access to the National Forest. This proximity suggests a setting rich in natural beauty, potentially featuring forests, trails, and wildlife. The allure of camping at the "forest boundary" often lies in the ease of venturing into the wilderness for hiking, nature observation, and other outdoor pursuits. While the reviews do not explicitly detail the specific types of trees or terrain, the mention of an ATV trail leading directly into the National Forest indicates a landscape suitable for such activities. The overall impression is one of being immersed in a natural woodland environment.
The services and features of Forest Boundary Campground, as reported by visitors, include:
- Dry Camping: A key feature mentioned is that it offers "dry camping," meaning there are no hookups for water, electricity, or sewer at the individual campsites. Campers planning to stay here should be self-sufficient in terms of power, water storage, and waste management.
- No Hookup Sites: Reinforcing the dry camping nature, there are specifically "no hook up sites" available. This is an important consideration for those traveling with RVs or trailers that rely on external utilities.
- Pedestal Bathroom: The campground provides a "pedestal bathroom." This term typically refers to a vault toilet or pit toilet, which is a non-flush restroom facility. While it offers a more sanitary option than no restroom at all, it's different from flush toilets and may have implications for comfort and maintenance.
- ATV Trail Access: A significant feature is a "very nice ATV trail that leads from the campground into the national forest." This makes Forest Boundary Campground particularly appealing to those who enjoy off-road vehicle adventures and want direct access to trails from their campsite.
However, the direct access to ATV trails also brings a notable drawback, as highlighted in both reviews: the issue of noise and inconsiderate ATV riders. One reviewer explicitly states, "if you are looking for peace and quiet, this may not be the campground for you" due to "lots" of ATV traffic, with some riders being "courteous" and others not. Specific incidents mentioned include ATV riders going "right through our camp one evening" and riders who "show off how loud their toy is." This suggests that while the ATV trail is a feature for some, it can significantly detract from the experience of campers seeking a tranquil natural setting. The lack of camping etiquette displayed by some riders appears to be a recurring concern.
Currently, there is no promotional information available for Forest Boundary Campground in the provided text. As a campground likely managed by a government entity (given the National Forest access), it may not typically offer specific promotions or discounts in the same way that private campgrounds might. Information regarding camping fees (if any), rules and regulations, and potential closures or alerts would likely be found on the website of the relevant National Forest or by contacting the phone number provided.
In conclusion, Forest Boundary Campground near Pomeroy, WA, offers a convenient location for accessing the National Forest, particularly for those interested in ATV riding directly from the campground. The presence of a pedestal bathroom provides a basic amenity, and the "nice campground" comment suggests that the setting itself has some appeal. However, the significant issue of noise and the lack of courtesy from some ATV riders, who have reportedly driven through campsites, are major drawbacks for those seeking a peaceful and quiet camping experience. The dry camping and lack of hookups also mean that campers need to be fully prepared with their own resources.
For local users considering Forest Boundary Campground based on the "camping near me" search, it is crucial to weigh the pros and cons carefully. If direct access to ATV trails in the National Forest is a primary interest, and you are tolerant of potential noise from off-road vehicles and prepared for dry camping conditions, this campground might be suitable. However, if peace and quiet are a top priority for your camping trip, the experiences shared by other visitors suggest that this may not be the ideal location. The inconsiderate behavior of some ATV riders driving through campsites also raises concerns about safety and respect for fellow campers.
Prospective visitors might want to inquire with the provided phone number about any specific rules or guidelines regarding ATV usage within the campground and on the adjacent trails. Understanding the regulations and whether any measures are in place to ensure respectful behavior among trail users could be helpful. Additionally, checking recent online reviews from other platforms might provide a more current perspective on the noise levels and overall campground experience. Ultimately, the decision to camp at Forest Boundary Campground will depend on individual preferences and how well the features and potential drawbacks align with the desired camping experience.

Forest Boundary Campground Reviews
Nice campground. Dry camping, no hook up sites. There is a pedestal bathroom. There is a very nice ATV trail that leads from the campground into the national forest and some ATV riders are courteous and some are not. We have had them ride through our campsite and show off how loud their toy is. So if you are looking for peace and quiet, this may not be the campground for you.
May 29, 2023 · R. UnSirReally nice little camp grounds.. the only thing that bothered me was that some guy with his daughter road his ATV right through our camp one evening.. very rude 😒Apparently he was teaching his daughter that there is no such thing as camping etiquette..
Jun 13, 2022 · D E W AdventuresDidn't stay overnight. Pit toilet was clean and stocked. Campsite were clear of debris. The view was pretty good. All in all it seemed like a decent place to class.
