The environment of Gifford Pinchot State Park Campground appears to be quite scenic and well-maintained. One visitor who was initially hesitant due to negative reviews found the park to be clean, well-lit, and peaceful, especially at night. They noted the presence of many families, suggesting a family-friendly atmosphere. Specific sites, like site 115, were described as beautiful with water views and a notable absence of bugs during their stay. The overall impression is that the campground provides a tranquil and enjoyable natural setting for a getaway.
In terms of services and features, Gifford Pinchot State Park Campground offers a range of options to accommodate different camping preferences. For RV campers, Loop B (a non-pet area) has sites like 298 that provide full hookups, including 50 amps of electricity, water, and sewer. This is a significant convenience for those traveling with larger recreational vehicles. The campground also has pet-friendly sites available, catering to campers who wish to bring their animals along. It's worth noting that the grass throughout the campground is sometimes left tall.
Recreational activities are also a highlight. The beach area for the campground is located in Loop A, which is a non-pet area. While one reviewer mentioned that Loop A seems to have some low-lying sites prone to mud in rainy conditions, the presence of a beach suggests opportunities for swimming and enjoying the lake. For those interested in water sports beyond swimming, there is an area specifically for setting out canoes and kayaks, complete with racks for storage. The paved roads within the campground (blacktop) make navigation easier.
The facilities at Gifford Pinchot State Park Campground include bathhouses. While one reviewer described them as "older," they also noted that they were "not trashy" and "clean," which is reassuring for campers who value hygiene. The campground is also described as very large, with most sites offering ample space, providing a sense of privacy and room to spread out.
Accessibility is also considered, as the campground offers ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) sites with all blacktop surfaces for easy access. This is a commendable feature, ensuring that individuals with mobility challenges can also enjoy the camping experience here.
However, potential visitors should be aware of a particular environmental factor: during hot summers and periods of low water levels, bacteria can become an issue, leading to the closure of the beaches. It would be wise to check the current conditions if planning a visit during the warmer months.

Gifford Pinchot State Park Campground Reviews
Some of the reviews for the campground were so negative that I was a little nervous. Don't let them sway you!! The park was clean, well lit, full of families, quiet at night, and so peaceful! Site 115 was beautiful. Water views and NO bugs. Sites in our loop were well maintained. Bathrooms were older, as to be expected, but they were clean. We would definitely stay here again.
Jul 24, 2024 · Kristin1st time here, Camped the Easter weekend of 2025 loop BNon pet area and site 298 hosted full hooks up, 50 amps with water and sewer. Grass is left tall throughout the campground. There are pet friendly sites. The Beach area for the campground is in loop A ( non pet area) that loop seems to have low area sites with mud when it rains. A lot of the tent sites are a parking pad then a drop over to uneven area for a tent with fire ring and table. The bathhouse was dated but not trashy. Very large campground, most sites have space.Area for setting out canoes and kayak with racks. Roads are blacktop. Does offer ADA sites with all blacktop for easy access. Just beware that hot summers and low water cause bacteria and they shut down the beaches.
Apr 21, 2025 · Kelly LowWe have camped twice at Gifford Pinchot and both were amazing experiences. The campground is clean and well ran. We stayed at waterfront lots both times since my son loves to fish and the lake is clean and great for fishing. Bathhouses are well kept.
Sep 10, 2024 · Jessica MarshallMy friend and I camped here in June. Unfortunately, it was during the heat wave so we only stayed one night. This was our first time at this campground and we will definitely go back. We had site 319 which is on the lake. It was nice that we could kayak right up to our site. We had two tents, with plenty of room leftover. This particular site offers privacy, compared to some of the other sites. We fit a full size car and mid size suv in the parking space. There is a slight downward slope from the parking space to the site. The picnic table was rough but we didn’t care. The bath houses are not updated but they were fine. The firewood garage/shed was closed so we drove and got some. Lots of places sell it close by. Plenty of hiking within walking distance of the sites.
Jul 01, 2024 · Michelle RWe stayed in a yurt 🛖 for the experience. It was good we did because we had a lot of rain and it was pretty spacious inside considering it slept 5. I only wish the deck would have been roofed off. Handicap accessible. In the rain that would be nice to still enjoy the serenity surrounding you. Bathroom was a little further away than I liked but I managed. Showers, well, room for improvement but at least they have them, wear water shoes! All in all not a bad experience but was different than a cabin by far.
