Grande Ronde Campground Introduce
Nestled in the scenic landscapes of Oregon, the Grande Ronde Campground offers a delightful camping experience for local adventurers seeking a peaceful retreat close to nature. Situated off an unnamed road, this campground provides an intimate setting with convenient access to the beautiful Grande Ronde Lake. For those searching under the category of "camping near me," Grande Ronde Campground presents an excellent option for a quick getaway or an extended outdoor exploration.
Environment and Location: Grande Ronde Campground boasts a picturesque environment centered around the tranquil Grande Ronde Lake. Unlike its neighbor, Anthony Lakes Campground, Grande Ronde offers a smaller and significantly shadier ambiance, providing a welcome respite from the sun, especially during warmer months. The campground is located just a short half-mile drive from the highway via a gravel road, ensuring easy access for most vehicles. Its proximity, only about one mile from Anthony Lakes Campground, makes it a viable and often preferred alternative for those familiar with the area.
The highlight of the location is undoubtedly the access to Grande Ronde Lake. A nice boat ramp is available within the campground, making it convenient for visitors who wish to enjoy boating and potentially fishing on the lake. The high lake environment contributes to cooler temperatures, particularly at night, even during the peak of summer in August. This makes it an ideal destination for those who appreciate a refreshing climate while camping.
Services and Amenities: Despite its smaller size, Grande Ronde Campground is equipped with essential services to ensure a comfortable stay. The facilities include vault toilets, which are a standard feature in many natural campgrounds. Additionally, the campground provides trash disposal services, encouraging visitors to maintain the cleanliness of the area. A significant convenience is the availability of pressurized water, allowing campers easy access to a vital resource for drinking and basic hygiene.
It's important to note that Grande Ronde Campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis, as there are no reserved sites. With only eight campsites available, it's advisable to arrive early, especially during peak seasons or weekends, to secure a spot. This limited number of sites contributes to the campground's peaceful and less crowded atmosphere.
Features and Highlights: One of the standout features of Grande Ronde Campground is the size and levelness of its campsites. Reviews from visitors indicate that the spots are generally bigger and more level compared to those at Anthony Lakes Campground, making it particularly suitable for larger travel trailers and RVs. This accessibility for larger vehicles enhances its appeal to a broader range of camping enthusiasts.
Beyond the campground itself, the surrounding natural beauty offers numerous opportunities for outdoor activities. Many recommend taking a hike around the lake to fully appreciate the scenery. However, visitors are reminded to be mindful of the local wildlife and plant life, encouraging a respectful interaction with the environment. The pristine location also boasts minimal light pollution, resulting in a truly fabulous night sky, perfect for stargazing. This is a significant draw for those who enjoy celestial observation away from the city lights.
Promotional Information and Value: Grande Ronde Campground offers exceptional value with a nightly camping fee of just $10. Furthermore, senior citizens can take advantage of a half-price rate with a Senior Pass, making it an even more affordable option for eligible campers. This cost-effectiveness, combined with the pleasant environment and essential amenities, makes Grande Ronde Campground a highly attractive choice for budget-conscious travelers and those seeking a simple yet rewarding camping experience.
As a local user exploring "camping near me," Grande Ronde Campground presents a charming and well-situated option. Its smaller size fosters a tranquil atmosphere, while the access to Grande Ronde Lake and the surrounding natural beauty provide ample opportunities for recreation and relaxation. The practical amenities, such as vault toilets, trash service, and pressurized water, contribute to a comfortable stay. The larger, level campsites are a significant advantage for RV owners, and the affordable nightly rate, especially with the senior discount, adds to its appeal.
While the lack of cell service might be a consideration for some, it also contributes to the campground's appeal as a true escape from theconnected world, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the natural surroundings. The positive feedback from other campers highlights its desirability as a "very nice" and "beautiful" location, further solidifying its reputation as a worthwhile camping destination in the Oregon landscape.
In conclusion, Grande Ronde Campground offers a serene lakeside camping experience with essential amenities, spacious and level sites, and stunning natural beauty. Its affordability and proximity to other attractions in the area make it an excellent choice for local campers seeking a tranquil and enjoyable outdoor adventure. Remember to arrive early to secure your spot and prepare to enjoy the peaceful environment and breathtaking scenery of Grande Ronde Lake.

Grande Ronde Campground Reviews
Very nice small CG, only 8 sites, but bigger spots than Anthony lakes CG across the hwy. No reserved sites, first come only. There is a nice boat ramp to the small Grande Ronde lake. The CG has vault toilets, trash and pressurized water. CG is much smaller and shadier than Anthony Lakes CG. Gravel rd in is short, only 1/2 from hwy. Sites allow bigger travel trailers/RVs than Anthony Lake CG and most are level. Very nice alt to Anthony lake CG and only 1-mile apart. No cell service. Camp spots are $10 nite. Senior Pass Rate 1/2.
Sep 02, 2018 · Greg D. LindBeautiful high lake campground that is pretty small. Very cold at night, even in August, but so worth it. I recommend a hike around the lake; please just be mindful of wildlife and the plant-life. No light pollution so the night sky is fabulous.

Jul 31, 2019 · Steve WoodwardGood third choice for camping at Anthony Lakes. Close enough to the hill to ride your bike to and from. Nice little trail goes all the way around.
