Grizz Flats Campground Introduce
For local adventurers in search of a truly remote "camping near me" experience, Grizz Flats Campground, located near Enterprise, Oregon (address: Enterprise, OR 97828, USA), offers a unique and potentially rewarding escape. Situated in a secluded area, this campground is ideal for those looking to disconnect from the everyday hustle and immerse themselves in a more isolated natural setting. As one visitor aptly described it, Grizz Flats is a "great spot - remote as you know," emphasizing its distance from more populated areas and the promise of tranquility.
The environment of Grizz Flats Campground is characterized by its natural beauty and remoteness. The mention of it being on a "bucket list of places to check out" suggests a certain allure and scenic appeal. The surrounding area offers opportunities for outdoor activities, notably fishing. One camper reported "decent fishing" when using flies on the bottom of the water. This could be a significant draw for anglers seeking a peaceful fishing experience away from more crowded spots. The same reviewer also highlighted the success of using a submerged dry fly at dusk, landing a larger fish, indicating that the water may hold some promising catches for those with the right technique.
However, the remoteness of Grizz Flats Campground also implies limited services. It's explicitly stated that there is "zero WiFi," so campers should be prepared to be completely off the grid. This lack of connectivity can be a significant advantage for those wanting a true digital detox and a deeper connection with nature, but it's crucial to be aware of this limitation for planning and communication purposes.
Recent reviews provide insights into the services and maintenance at Grizz Flats Campground. One visitor noted that the "toilet room is not maintained," advising others to "bring your own TP and sanitizer." This lack of upkeep in essential facilities is an important consideration for potential campers and suggests a more rustic and self-sufficient camping experience. While the natural beauty is a draw, the absence of regular maintenance in the restroom area might be a deterrent for some.
Water is available at the campground, described by one reviewer as "refreshing." Access to a water source is a significant benefit for any camping trip, providing for drinking, cooking, and basic hygiene. However, campers should still consider bringing their own water purification methods as a precaution, especially given the lack of information about the water's potability.
A unique feature of Grizz Flats Campground is its proximity to a "shooting range club on Sunday mornings." This is an important piece of information for those planning a weekend stay. The potential noise from the shooting range could impact the peacefulness of the environment during Sunday mornings. Campers seeking complete quiet throughout their stay should be aware of this and perhaps plan their activities accordingly or consider weekdays for their visit, as one reviewer noted the absence of other people during a mid-week stay after Labor Day.
One visitor reported finding evidence that "squatters had been in the site I used," although this was only noticed after setting up camp. While this seems to have been an isolated incident for this reviewer and did not significantly detract from their experience, it's something to be mindful of when selecting a campsite. It underscores the importance of checking your chosen site upon arrival.
Despite some of the maintenance and potential noise concerns, Grizz Flats Campground appears to be a hit with families and pet owners. The reviewer who mentioned the squatters also noted that "My kids and Dogs loved it," indicating a family-friendly and pet-friendly atmosphere. The presence of "lots of butterflies" adds to the natural charm of the location, suggesting a vibrant ecosystem. Interestingly, the reviewer also mentioned the absence of "ticks or ant problems," which can be a significant relief for campers in certain areas.
Given that Grizz Flats Campground is likely managed by a public entity (given the mention of the shooting range club's shared use), specific promotional information or discounts are unlikely to be widely advertised. The primary draw is the remote location, the natural beauty, and the opportunity for activities like fishing. The fact that one experienced camper in their 50s expressed a desire to return for "one more trip" speaks to the positive aspects of the campground despite its limitations.
For local users searching for "camping near me" who prioritize seclusion, natural beauty, and opportunities for fishing, Grizz Flats Campground in Enterprise, OR, is worth considering. However, it's crucial to be prepared for a more rustic experience with limited amenities and potential noise on Sunday mornings. Bringing your own toilet paper and hand sanitizer is essential, and being self-sufficient in terms of water and other supplies is advisable. The positive feedback regarding the beauty of the site, the enjoyment of children and pets, and the decent fishing suggest that for the right kind of camper, Grizz Flats can indeed be a "great spot" and a memorable destination.
In conclusion, Grizz Flats Campground offers a remote and beautiful camping experience near Enterprise, OR, ideal for those seeking solitude and fishing opportunities. While the lack of WiFi and maintenance in the toilet room are drawbacks to consider, the refreshing water, pet-friendly environment, and abundance of butterflies contribute to its charm. The potential for noise from a nearby shooting range on Sunday mornings is an important factor for weekend campers. Despite these considerations, the positive experiences shared by visitors, particularly the desire to return, indicate that Grizz Flats holds a special appeal for those who appreciate a more rugged and secluded natural escape. Local campers looking to venture off the beaten path should consider Grizz Flats for their next "camping near me" adventure, ensuring they come prepared for the conditions.

Grizz Flats Campground Reviews
Great spot - remote as you know - zero WiFi if you have to ask ... fishing was decent if you get flies on the bottom. Was on my bucket list of places to check out ... did not disappoint. Would I go back? Yes, I'll do one more trip there and I'm in my 50's. Best fish of the afternoon/night (fished from 3 to 8 ... one day only) was a submerged dry fly as dusk and caught the best fish of the day ... about 13" ... or 14#. Other fish were 10 inch range. No one out there mid-week after Labor Day 2022.
Sep 12, 2022 · Bret PolvorosaThis was a beautiful site. Bring your own TP and sanitizer as the toilet room is not maintained. The water was refreshing it was a nice private area shared with a shooting range club on Sunday mornings. It looked like squatters had been in the site I used, but we didn't notice until we were all set up. My kids and Dogs loved it. Lots of butterflies, but no ticks or ant problems.
Jul 04, 2023 · Danielle “Dani” MonteNot so remote as Troy is just down the river and within ear shot. But wide open area with plenty of camping opportunities and a well taken care of pit toilet. Seen a mountain goat just up river from the campground about an hour before sunset.
Jul 03, 2022 · Toby HarrisonAlways an amazing time at grizz flats. Although a lil chilly, rendezvous in April is so much fun.
