4.0
The only downside was we didn't have a picnic table. Our kids accidentally left our water on and the host let us use his toter to dump our tanks. When we arrived they had an early Halloween trick or treat for the kids! Nice people. Quiet at night. Great stay for us and we will return. - Chris Bloomfield

Groton Forest Rd Campground Introduce

For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Marshfield, VT area, Groton Forest Rd Campground, located at 2654 VT-232, Marshfield, VT 05658, USA, presents a camping option with varied feedback from recent visitors. You can contact them at (802) 426-4122 or +1 802-426-4122 for inquiries. Reviews suggest a generally quiet location with some appreciated gestures from the hosts, but also mention specific rules that potential campers should be aware of.

The environment of Groton Forest Rd Campground, being situated in Marshfield, VT, likely offers a natural setting typical of the Vermont landscape, possibly including wooded areas and a peaceful atmosphere. One reviewer described the location as "nice," suggesting an appealing natural surrounding. The campground is also noted to be "quiet at night," which would be a significant draw for those seeking a peaceful camping experience when looking for "camping near me." However, the reviews do not provide extensive details about the specific natural features or the layout of the campground itself. Potential campers might expect a forest road setting, implying a more rustic or nature-focused environment.

In terms of services, feedback on Groton Forest Rd Campground offers a mixed perspective. One reviewer shared a positive experience, mentioning that the host was helpful, allowing them to use a toter to dump tanks when their water was accidentally left on. They also highlighted a fun early Halloween trick-or-treat event for the kids, indicating some family-friendly initiatives. This reviewer found the hosts to be "nice" and expressed their intention to return. However, another reviewer reported a "terrible experience," describing one of the owners as a "dictator" and advising against letting children play on the playground like kids or use the bathrooms freely, stating that reprimands would follow. This reviewer also mentioned "passive aggressive emails/texts" as a communication style of this particular owner. Despite this, they did acknowledge that the location was nice and that some of the seasonal campers were great people. The lack of a picnic table at one site was mentioned as a minor downside in the positive review. Based on these contrasting accounts, the services and the overall atmosphere might depend significantly on interactions with the specific owners and adherence to the campground's rules.

The features of Groton Forest Rd Campground that can be gleaned from the reviews include a playground (though its use seems to be restricted according to one review), bathrooms (the use of which also appears to have specific rules), and potentially some organized activities like the early Halloween event. The quiet nights are a notable feature appreciated by at least one reviewer. The helpfulness of at least one of the hosts in specific situations (like the tank dumping) is also a positive feature. However, the strict rules regarding children's play and bathroom use, as well as the communication style of one owner, could be significant features that potential guests need to consider. The absence of a picnic table at some sites is another feature, or lack thereof, mentioned by a guest.

The positive aspects highlighted in one review, such as the helpful host and the fun event for kids, could be seen as promotional points, suggesting a family-friendly environment with kind hosts. The quiet nights would also appeal to those seeking a peaceful camping experience. However, the negative review presents a strong counterpoint, warning about strict rules and a potentially unwelcoming attitude from one of the owners, which would certainly not serve as promotional material. Therefore, any potential "promotional" aspect from the positive review is tempered by the significant concerns raised in the negative one.

To provide an objective overview, Groton Forest Rd Campground in Marshfield, VT, appears to offer a location that some find "nice" and quiet at night. At least one host is described as helpful and friendly, with examples of going out of their way to assist guests and organizing family-friendly activities. However, there are also serious concerns raised about strict rules regarding children's behavior, particularly on the playground and in the bathrooms, and a negative interaction with one of the owners, including mentions of a dictatorial attitude and passive-aggressive communication. The availability of picnic tables might be inconsistent across sites. Potential campers should be aware of these contrasting experiences and the possibility of stringent rules.

For local users searching for "camping near me" and considering Groton Forest Rd Campground, it would be prudent to weigh the positive feedback about the quiet environment and helpfulness of one host against the negative feedback concerning strict rules and the demeanor of one of the owners. If you are camping with children, the restrictions mentioned in one review regarding playground and bathroom use could be a significant factor in your decision. The lack of a guaranteed picnic table at your site is another minor point to consider. It might be beneficial to seek additional, more recent reviews to get a broader sense of the current atmosphere and management style at the campground.

In conclusion, Groton Forest Rd Campground in Marshfield, VT, offers a potentially quiet and naturally appealing location. While some guests have appreciated the helpfulness of the hosts and any family-oriented activities, others have reported a negative experience due to strict rules and the attitude of one of the owners. When considering this campground for your "camping near me" search, it's important to be aware of these differing perspectives to make an informed decision. Contacting the campground directly at (802) 426-4122 might provide further clarity on their current policies and atmosphere.
