The environment of Hanna Park Campground is frequently described as "beautiful," characterized by a blend of natural landscapes, from palm trees to a beach area. One reviewer likened the experience of being surrounded by the overhanging trees to being in the Amazon, suggesting a lush and immersive natural setting. The park also features a lake, providing opportunities for water-based activities. Wildlife sightings, such as armadillos, have been reported, adding to the natural charm. However, it's important to note a significant environmental factor mentioned by one reviewer: a potential abundance of caterpillars, particularly under overgrown trees, which could be a concern for those with related phobias. The presence of sea fog has also been noted as a scenic phenomenon. While generally quiet, the roads within the campsite area are mentioned as being narrow, which might be a consideration for larger vehicles.
Hanna Park Campground offers a range of services to accommodate different camping styles. Full-service drive-through campsites with water and electric hookups are available, catering to RV campers seeking convenience. The presence of camp bathrooms is noted, although one reviewer suggested that the cleaning frequency could be improved. It's worth noting that not all parking areas near the beach are equipped with bathrooms or rinse-off facilities, which might be relevant for beachgoers. A convenience store is located at the entrance of the park, providing access to basic necessities. Additionally, a "playdate" area is mentioned, suggesting facilities for children's recreation. Access to the campground requires a gate code, indicating a level of security for campers.
The features of Hanna Park Campground contribute to its appeal as a multifaceted outdoor destination. Its proximity to the beach is a significant draw, offering opportunities for swimming, sunbathing, and enjoying the coastal environment. The diverse terrain, ranging from hard-packed sand near the water to powdery and gritty sand on the dunes, provides a varied beach experience. The park's natural beauty, with its palm trees and unique tree canopy, creates a visually appealing setting. The presence of a lake expands the recreational possibilities within the park. For those interested in wildlife, the chance to spot armadillos adds an element of natural discovery. However, potential visitors should be aware of the reported caterpillar issue, especially during certain times of the year. The outdated nature of the park map, as mentioned in a review, suggests that relying solely on it for navigation might not be ideal.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available in the provided text. Local users interested in potential discounts, seasonal offers, or any special packages should contact Hanna Park Campground directly via phone or check the official website for the most up-to-date information. Given its popularity and diverse offerings, it's possible that the park may have specific promotions during off-peak seasons or for local residents, but this would need to be confirmed with the park management.
The customer reviews for Hanna Park Campground present a somewhat varied perspective. One reviewer had an overwhelmingly positive experience, highlighting the park's beauty, the helpfulness of the staff, the unique natural features like the tree canopy and the sea fog, and even the wildlife encounters. This positive feedback emphasizes the potential for an "amazingly beautiful" and enjoyable stay. The availability of full-service, drive-through sites was also appreciated by this reviewer.
In contrast, another reviewer pointed out several areas for improvement. While acknowledging the park's beauty and the convenience of water and electric hookups, they noted issues with the cleanliness of the camp bathrooms and the narrow roads within the campsite. The lack of bathroom or rinse-off facilities at all beach parking areas was also mentioned as a drawback. The significant concern raised in this review was the overwhelming presence of caterpillars, which led them to cut their reservation short. This highlights a potentially seasonal or localized issue that could significantly impact the camping experience for some individuals.
For local users considering Hanna Park Campground for their 'camping near me' getaway, it's essential to weigh both the positive and negative feedback. The park's natural beauty, beach access, and availability of full-service RV sites are definite advantages. The helpfulness of the staff, as reported by one reviewer, also contributes to a positive experience. However, potential drawbacks such as the cleanliness of the bathrooms, the narrow campsite roads, the limited facilities at beach parking areas, and the potential caterpillar infestation should be taken into consideration.
Prospective campers might want to inquire about the current conditions regarding insects, particularly if visiting during warmer months. Clarification on the cleaning schedule for the bathrooms and any ongoing improvements to the park's infrastructure or map accuracy could also be beneficial. For RVers, understanding the specifics of the drive-through sites and navigating the narrow roads upon arrival might require extra caution. Beachgoers should note the potential lack of facilities at some parking areas and plan accordingly.
In conclusion, Hanna Park Campground offers a compelling 'camping near me' option in Jacksonville, Florida, with its beautiful natural environment, beach access, and various amenities. While many visitors have enjoyed its scenic beauty and convenient services, potential campers should be aware of the reported issues regarding bathroom cleanliness, campsite road width, beach parking facilities, and the potential presence of caterpillars. By considering these aspects and perhaps contacting the park directly for the most current information, local users can make an informed decision about whether Hanna Park Campground is the right choice for their next outdoor adventure.

Hanna Park Campground Reviews
Beautiful park, campsites, quiet but narrow roads at the campsite, camp bathrooms are ok, needs cleaning more frequently. Water and electric hook up is convenient. Not all Parking areas to the beach have bathrooms or rinse off. If you have caterpillars phobia like I do, RUNNN fast! They rain down from the overgrown trees everywhere you turn, even under a canopy. The map is outdated. The convenience store at the entrance is available along with the playdate. Required code needed for the gate to camp. We cut our reservation short due to multiple near altercations with caterpillars.
Apr 21, 2025 · Saingny UngWe stayed at Hanna Park Campground for 4 nights in February. We were on site 33, a drive through, full service. This park is amazingly beautiful. From the palm trees to the beach. The trees overhang each other like your in the Amazon. Never saw a gator but did see an Armadillo on a walk with my dog. Everything was amazing. Never met one grumpy person. All the staff were very helpfull. The sand on the beach goes from hard packed by the water to almost talcum powdery then to gritty sand on the dunes. Never saw a Gator but did have an Armadillo as a neighbor. The sea fog that rolled in while we were there was a site to see. Just cant say enough good things. We will for sure be back.
Feb 22, 2025 · Bob CainThis park is so beautiful! It’s like being in a magical gem hidden away from the chaos of the city. Lots of campgrounds that feel just a bit private due to the foliage. The beach is just a 10 minute walk from the campground. Great beach to walk on and astounding greenery. Hikes and trails for walking as well as biking on. It’s amazing here!
Dec 17, 2024 · Yana FayukIf I could give this no stars I would. I posted this review five years ago and still to date.....the worst bath rooms of any campground we have been to. For such little money they could have done simple one like this which includes a laundry. But no, the city has really screwed the baths up and after 5 years and a renovation, it's worse
Mar 21, 2025 · Douglas CastroOne of the best RV parks I've been to. Very private sites and the natural landscape is absolutely beautiful. It's just a ten minute walk to the beach from the campsite! Highly recommended!
