Hoodview Campground Introduce
For local adventurers seeking the ideal 'camping near me' experience, Hoodview Campground, nestled in the scenic surroundings of Estacada, Oregon, offers a promising retreat. Located at NF-57, Estacada, OR 97023, USA, Hoodview Campground provides easy access to the breathtaking beauty of Timothy Lake and the surrounding natural landscape. You can reach them by phone at (503) 622-3191 or their mobile number, +1 503-622-3191, for inquiries and reservations. While comprehensive details about all aspects of the campground aren't readily available online, the provided customer reviews offer valuable insights into its environment, services, and potential features.
One recurring positive aspect highlighted in the reviews is the cleanliness of the campsites and restrooms. This is a significant factor for many campers who value a well-maintained and hygienic camping environment. The spaciousness of the campsites is also noted as a major advantage, suggesting that campers can expect ample room for their tents, vehicles, and outdoor activities. Furthermore, the presence of "great firepits" indicates that enjoying campfires, a quintessential part of the camping experience, is well-facilitated at Hoodview Campground.
A key feature of Hoodview Campground appears to be its convenient lake access. The reviews mention that lake access is close, regardless of the specific campsite location. This proximity to Timothy Lake opens up a wealth of recreational opportunities for campers, including swimming, fishing, boating, kayaking, and simply enjoying the serene beauty of the lake. Timothy Lake is known for its stunning clear waters and picturesque views of Mount Hood, making it a highly desirable destination for outdoor enthusiasts in the region. The mention of the scenery in one review ("The pictures show why") further emphasizes the natural appeal of this location.
However, it's crucial to consider some of the negative feedback provided by recent campers. One long-time visitor expressed significant disappointment due to an allegedly "rude and downright hostile" experience with the PGE Park camp hosts. This individual, who had considered Hoodview their favorite place for over fifteen years, stated they could no longer recommend it until their complaint was addressed. This review raises concerns about the quality of customer service and the interactions campers might have with the campground staff.
Another concerning review details an experience of being "rushed out" of the campsite before the designated checkout time and subsequently being "actively harassed" while trying to leave, even after explaining that the policy was unclear. This negative encounter, which occurred on the reviewer's birthday, significantly impacted their overall experience. Such feedback suggests potential issues with the enforcement of campground policies and the way campers are treated by the staff. It's important for prospective visitors to be aware of these reported issues.
Given its location near Timothy Lake in the Mount Hood National Forest, the environment surrounding Hoodview Campground is likely characterized by natural beauty, including forests, hiking trails, and opportunities for wildlife viewing. The elevation around Timothy Lake contributes to a typically cooler climate, especially at night, which can be a welcome respite during warmer summer months. Hoodview Campground Reviews
Campsites and restrooms are very clean. The campsites are spacious with great firepits. The lake access is close no matter where your site is.
Aug 17, 2024 · Michelle QuillinThis used to be a 5 star for me and my favorite place on Timothy Lake. My experience Wednesday morning with the PGE Park camp hosts was rude and downright hostile. Until PGE addresses my complaint, I can no longer recommend. Which is a shame because it's been my favorite place on this planet for over fifteen years. The pictures show why.But being rushed out of my camp spot before checkout time and then rushed out of the campground even though I explained the policy was unclear and actively harassed while trying to leave has really ruined my experience and on my birthday nonetheless.
Sep 15, 2023 · Kip SilvermanVery friendly staff and a great view of Mt. Hood! There are a few spots however that are on a slope so when renting keep this in mind. The lake is definitely family friendly as well with many shallow spots. The water temperature was amazing.
Aug 25, 2021 · KyleWe stayed in space 07 it was on the loop in the middle area so not on the lake which kinda sucked because everyone and child walked and rode(bikes) non stop. But that wasn't the worst part about the camp spot, it was that there was massive roots and on a slope. The picnic table was AWFUL you either leaned back or leaned forward it was buried in the hill .. what a worthless table. From what we could see none of the spaces looked flat. We have a small travel trailer w/ one small slide out and it was not fun trying to back it in to the space with big boulders everywhere too so I couldn't imagine what it would be like for someone with a bigger trailer and slide outs.Other than that the lake was beautiful we took our inflatable kayak out on the lake, there was nice easy beach access. There was some nice benches along the lake to sit at. We were there in mid july when all the butterflies hatched so it was pretty amazing to see thousands of butterflies.
Jul 17, 2019 · Carrie ClarkSuper packed with people when I was there over labor day weekend. I was simply working in the area, not staying there, and stopped by the waterfront to attempt phone service... one of the only places in the lake vicinity where I have obtained it in the past. Everyone I encountered was super friendly and pleasant to be around... and I don't normally like crowds. Much better than the dispersed camping situation I had not far from the campground!
