HOOTERHILLS Introduce
For local users seeking a serene and "off the beaten path" "camping near me" experience in the vicinity of Morgantown, Indiana, HOOTERHILLS, located at 9347 Bear Creek Rd, Morgantown, IN 46160, USA (phone: (765) 315-2424 or +1 765-315-2424), appears to be a hidden gem worth considering. Based on enthusiastic reviews from recent visitors, this campground offers a beautiful and calming environment, coupled with exceptional hospitality from the owner, Jeremiah.
Within the "camping near me" category, HOOTERHILLS distinguishes itself by providing a more secluded and peaceful camping experience. One reviewer described it as "some great off the beaten path Indiana camping," emphasizing its appeal for those looking to escape the more crowded and conventional campgrounds. The overall energy of the location is described as "very calming and peaceful," suggesting a tranquil retreat where visitors can truly relax and connect with nature.
The environment at HOOTERHILLS is highlighted as "very beautiful," with easy-to-settle-into campsites. The property seems to offer a variety of camping spots, some closer to electrical access ("electrical thingy") and others a bit further walk, catering to different preferences and needs. One reviewer chose a site "just up the first hill" where they could drive up and park, indicating some campsites may offer convenient vehicle access. The presence of trees suitable for hanging hammocks is also implied, enhancing the natural and relaxing ambiance.
In terms of services, the standout feature is the exceptional hospitality of the owner, Jeremiah. Multiple reviewers went out of their way to praise his helpfulness and attentiveness. He is mentioned as going "above and beyond" to see to his guests' needs, even chopping wood and ensuring they had a fire pit. His willingness to speak with guests on the phone before their trip to provide information about the property and what to expect demonstrates a commitment to ensuring a positive experience. This personal touch and dedication to guest satisfaction seem to be a hallmark of HOOTERHILLS.
While specific amenities like bathrooms or water hookups are not detailed in the reviews, the mention of fire pits suggests that they are a standard feature at the campsites. One practical piece of advice from a reviewer is to "bring extra water and maybe a 5 gallon bucket of water just to have for rinsing hands or maybe rinsing dishes," implying that readily available water sources at each campsite might be limited. This is an important consideration for potential visitors to plan accordingly.
Regarding technology and connectivity, one reviewer with AT&T service reported having no reception on the property, while a partner with Verizon had a "little reception." However, it was noted that going just a mile in either direction should yield better cell service. This suggests that while HOOTERHILLS offers a secluded natural environment, staying connected might require a short drive. For those looking to completely disconnect, this could be seen as a benefit.
A local recommendation was also provided by a reviewer who enjoyed a meal at the "Green Hill dinner in town," describing it as a "very good scratch kitchen." This suggests that while HOOTERHILLS offers a more remote feel, local dining options are accessible within a short drive.
Promotional information for HOOTERHILLS, aimed at local users searching for "camping near me," should strongly emphasize the peaceful and beautiful natural environment, the "off the beaten path" appeal for those seeking tranquility, and the exceptional hospitality of the owner, Jeremiah. Testimonials highlighting his helpfulness and the overall calming energy of the campground would be powerful selling points. The availability of fire pits and the variety of campsites could also be mentioned.
However, to provide a complete picture, potential promotional material should also advise guests to bring extra water. The limited cell service on the property could be framed as an opportunity to disconnect and enjoy nature, but it should be communicated clearly so visitors can plan accordingly. The proximity to the Green Hill dinner in town could be a minor additional selling point for those who appreciate local dining options.
For local users seeking a "camping near me" experience that prioritizes peace, natural beauty, and a welcoming host, HOOTERHILLS near Morgantown, IN, appears to be an excellent choice. The positive reviews consistently highlight the tranquil environment and the exceptional service provided by Jeremiah. While the need to bring extra water and the limited cell service are practical considerations, the overall sentiment suggests a rewarding and relaxing camping experience away from the crowds. If you value a genuine connection with nature and appreciate a host who goes the extra mile, HOOTERHILLS might be the perfect "off the beaten path" destination for your next camping trip.
In conclusion, HOOTERHILLS offers a unique "camping near me" experience characterized by its peaceful and beautiful setting and the outstanding hospitality of its owner, Jeremiah. Local users looking for a tranquil escape will appreciate the calming energy of the campground and the helpfulness of the host. While amenities like readily available water at each site and strong cell service might be limited, the overall positive reviews and the promise of a genuine off-the-beaten-path camping adventure make HOOTERHILLS a compelling option for those seeking a serene retreat in nature near Morgantown, Indiana.

HOOTERHILLS Reviews
I cannot say enough great things about Jeremiah and his campsite at Hooterhills. We stayed here for the solar eclipse and Jeremiah went above and beyond to see to his guests needs. He chopped wood 🪓🪵 for us, ensured we had a fire pit 🔥 and was just all around helpful to our needs.I give this campground 2 thumbs 👍 way up and 5 gold stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. This is some great off the beaten path Indiana camping. ⛺
Apr 09, 2024 · Mary KateCamping here was such a great experience!!My boyfriend and I drove 8 hours from Wisconsin for the solar eclipse and we are so happy we did and happy we found Hooterhills! it was more than worth it.Jeremiah was very helpful and hospitable. We spoke on the phone twice before the trip and he was helpful with giving me a decent idea of what the property and campsites were like and what to expect. There are multiple campsites that aren’t too far away from the electrical thingy, then there are a variety of campsites that are a little further of a walk, but not too far. We made camp just up the first hill you see on the property where we could drive up and park. It’s a very beautiful place and has very calming and peaceful energy all around it. The campsites are easy to settle into. It’s always advisable to research weather conditions before any camping trip and we were pretty lucky with decent weather but speaking with Jeremiah on the phone was helpful too.(I have AT&T for service and never had reception out there but my partner has Verizon and got a little reception but if you go just a mile either way, you should find some bars.)*Went out to eat at Green Hill dinner in town, very good scratch kitchen.Oh, one thing I would say which I planned on already, is to bring extra water and maybe a 5 gallon bucket of water just to have for rinsing hands or maybe rinsing dishes. I’m glad I spoke with Jeremiah before leaving for the weekend, he told me there was some rain earlier in the week so I knew what to expect. This being somewhere I’ve never been to and also out of state for me, with only 3 reviews at the time I could find, I admit I was a little weary at first with me being a an avid horror-movie and true-crime fan (LOL) but I had good feelings about the place and Jeremiah answered the phone every time I called with questions. He and his family that we briefly met are genuine, kind people.I will most likely come back someday, especially if I’m traveling south. If I was more local/closer in location, I would come here more frequently for the peaceful nature and relaxation.
