Horsehead Lake Campground Reviews
It's really a nice place to camp. They have camping spots for one vehicle or they have double ones - for 2 vehicles. The lake is very beautiful. Area is very secluded. It's really nice there and really sad to see trash that people leave. It's like, why do you even here? Because you appreciate nature? So why doyou appreciate it's natural cleanliness?... We picked up as much trash as we could and through it to the locking dumpster which is just next to the toilets. There's stand with information to read and with envelopes with checks to pay for visiting. We paid cash, but there's also way to write a check, if I remember it correctly. There's also the way to enter your membership information so you could pay less.
Sep 28, 2024 · Anna ZakharovaWe love it here. The day use is $3, well worth it. There are many little pull-off areas to park in, including some the have an actual boat launch and dock. Some of the areas have permanent bathrooms equated to port-a-potties but the bathrooms at the swimming area are nice and even air conditioned. There are plenty of areas to grill and sit and eat. The swimming area is large and even on busy days isn't uncomfortably crowded. The slope to the swimming area is grass and the swimming area is all soft sand. My husband loves to fish here (no lunkers caught yet tho!). We spend our day kayaking around the lake and then stopping to swim and eat. There are lots of little dead end off-shoots to explore. Some days the water is so clear you can see to the bottom. Be careful with a boat with a prop: there are A LOT of tree stumps that inches below the water-line. Highly, highly, highly recommend you give this place a try! We have T-Mobile, and don't have service at any of the camping areas, but have okay service in the dead center of the lake.
Aug 09, 2021 · Amanda Elaine StandiferLoved this Campground! We was one of three campers here but it was like we was alone. Great camp spots, has a fire ring, picnic table & a hook for a lantern or trash. This site, (#7), is right on the lake with plenty of space. I really wished we had been able to spend more than a night here but we was on our way back & had picked it at random. What a lucky find!! We will definitely be returning. The site was $15 at a self serve station at the front of the Campground. They also have a pit style bathroom, one men's and the other womens as well as a spicket and trashcan.
Jun 13, 2023 · Megan FisherThe place is really clean it has bathrooms view is wonderful , nice campsites but if you come here during spring be ready because the place is almost floated , like driving into the campsite. You have to cross a river !!! and it’s like a meter deep so if you have a small car I don’t recommend you driving to this place or do you have a motorcycle if you have a big truck and you have 4 x 4 your chances are better but it’s very risky.
Mar 26, 2023 · BIANCA SONIA OFTEDAL (LIZ)Motorcycles beware: you will have to cross a section of road under water, 6 inches maybe day I went. Heavy rain could make this problematic. Sites are big. But run down with weed and washed out in many places. Pit toilet was worst I've seen. If you have little kids I would want them using it. No ranger, no host, never saw sheriff. Could see it getting really rowdy there depending on who shows. That being said, it's cheap and was part of the adventure.
