Redding Recreation Area falls under the "camping near me" category and appears to cater to both families and individuals looking for a traditional camping experience. While some aspects of the facilities have received mixed reviews, the overall sentiment regarding the campsite environment and the adjacent hiking trail is largely positive. This location seems particularly appealing to those who value spacious campsites, a sense of community among campers, and access to scenic hiking.
The environment of Redding Recreation Area is described as one where "each camping area was good size with enough buffer between each site." This spaciousness is a significant advantage, providing campers with a sense of privacy and ample room to set up their tents or park their RVs. The presence of a buffer between sites also contributes to a more peaceful and less crowded camping experience. The fact that the reviewer's family, including two dogs, had a great time suggests a welcoming environment for both humans and pets.
One of the standout features of Redding Recreation Area is its direct access to the trail leading to Spy Rock. This trail is approximately "9 miles round trip" and has been highly rated by a reviewer as a "5 star" experience. This proximity to a well-regarded hiking trail makes the recreation area particularly attractive to those who enjoy exploring the outdoors on foot. The opportunity to hike to Spy Rock likely offers scenic views and a chance to immerse oneself in the natural beauty of the Ozark region.
In terms of services, the information gathered from reviews provides a mixed perspective, particularly regarding the restroom facilities. One reviewer mentioned that the "men's bathroom was disgusting," although the female member of the group did not see it and therefore could not corroborate this assessment. Another reviewer stated that "the restrooms were pretty rough," contributing to their overall 3-star rating for the campgrounds. This suggests that while the natural environment and campsite spacing are appreciated, the upkeep of the restroom facilities may be an area needing improvement.
Despite the concerns about the restrooms, the campground seems to foster a positive community atmosphere, with one reviewer noting that "the other campers were great." This sense of camaraderie among visitors can enhance the overall camping experience, creating a friendly and welcoming environment. The fact that the reviewer felt comfortable enough to "leave our tent to go to another area for hiking" suggests a level of trust and security within the campground community.
Another reviewer described Redding Recreation Area as a place that "definitely looks like a great place to pull in and camp if you were wanting to just rough it and chill." This suggests that the campground might have a more rustic feel, appealing to those who prefer a more traditional and less amenity-focused camping experience. This aligns with the mixed feedback on the restroom facilities, indicating that the focus might be more on the natural setting and basic camping provisions.
The mix of campers at Redding Recreation Area is also noted, with one reviewer observing a "nice mix of both tents and campers/trailers," although they also mentioned that the "small campground was very full." This indicates the campground's popularity and its ability to accommodate different types of camping setups. However, the fact that it can get full suggests the importance of making reservations, especially during peak seasons or weekends, although the provided information does not explicitly state whether reservations are required or recommended.
While the positive reviews highlight the spacious campsites and the excellent hiking trail, the negative comments regarding the restroom conditions should be taken into consideration. Local users who prioritize well-maintained restroom facilities might want to inquire about the current status of these amenities before making a reservation. However, for those who are more focused on the natural environment, spacious campsites, and access to hiking, Redding Recreation Area still holds considerable appeal.
The provided information does not include any details about specific features of the campsites, such as the availability of picnic tables, fire rings, or hookups for RVs. Based on the reviews, it can be inferred that basic camping amenities are present, but the extent of these features is not detailed. Local users with specific needs (e.g., RV hookups) should contact the recreation area directly to inquire about site-specific amenities.
Unfortunately, there is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Local users interested in any discounts, seasonal rates, or special offers should contact Redding Recreation Area directly using the provided phone numbers. It's always a good practice to inquire about any potential promotions when making a reservation, especially for local residents.
In conclusion, Redding Recreation Area offers a compelling "camping near me" option for those in the Ozark, AR area who value spacious campsites and access to the highly-rated Spy Rock hiking trail. The campground appears to foster a friendly community atmosphere and accommodates both tent and RV campers. However, potential visitors should be aware of the mixed reviews regarding the cleanliness and condition of the restroom facilities. For those who prioritize the natural environment and are prepared for potentially rustic amenities, Redding Recreation Area provides a gateway to outdoor adventure. Contacting the recreation area directly for the most up-to-date information on facilities and any potential promotions is recommended.

Redding Recreation Area Reviews
My family had a great time here. We had 2 adults, one child, and two dogs. Each camping area was good size with enough buffer between each site. The other campers were great. We were able to leave our tent to go to another area for hiking. The adult male of our group did say the men's bathroom was disgusting, I didn't see it, so I don't know what he considers disgusting for a camp site. Thats the only reason for the 4 out of 5.
Nov 12, 2020 · codie winnThis definitely looks like a great place to pull in and camp if you were wanting to just rough it and chill.Other than that it doesn't appear to really be kept up, and the restrooms were pretty rough. I would give the campgrounds a 3 🌟.The trail out of the camp ground to Spy rock is about 9 miles round trip, and I rate it a 5 🌟.
Nov 21, 2020 · Phillip BassettThis is a great campground to experience the Mulberry River. One campsite has hookups. The rest are primitive. The bath house is not well maintained.
Apr 12, 2023 · Crystal DeMouraNice lil spot. River was way up!! Very peaceful. Has one shower stall, water warms up quick for having to press it continuously. $15 to camp, $5 day use.
May 07, 2022 · Vanessa ButandaIt was a really nice place to camp and swim. We started the trail from the campsite and about 2 miles in, the were some kind of bees or something on the trail, got stung 5 or 6 times. Very aggressive stinging insects. Besides that, it was a great place to visit.
