Huckleberry Campground

Council, ID 83612, USA

4.0
Clean bathroom, A pump for drinking water, sites are not very close to each other. You can get to the creek through openings in the fence, it was nice to put our feet in, the water was very cold. It got into the 90's later in the day. The circle at the end was kinda tight, there are rocks outlining the turnaround, that are hard to see in the tall grass. The creek runs right behind site 6 which was great. I gave it 3 stars because of the rocks. This campground is perfect for smaller trailers and tents. Lots of ATV trails. And black bear in the area. I didn't see and garbage cans, so pack it out. We would definitely come here again. 10 bucks a night, for water and a clean bathroom. Great quiet campground. - Doni

Huckleberry Campground Introduce

For local residents seeking a tranquil "camping near me" experience near Council, Idaho, Huckleberry Campground offers a quiet and affordable option with access to a creek and nearby recreational activities. Located at Council, ID 83612, USA, this campground appears to provide basic yet appreciated amenities in a natural setting, making it suitable for those with smaller trailers and tents looking to escape into the Idaho outdoors.

Embrace the Peaceful Environment Near a Creek

Huckleberry Campground is situated in a location that provides access to a creek, a significant natural feature highlighted by multiple reviewers. The creek runs close to the campground, with one reviewer noting that it runs "right behind site 6," suggesting some campsites offer immediate creek-side access. Openings in the fence allow easy access to the creek, where visitors enjoyed putting their feet in the cold water, indicating a refreshing way to cool off, especially as temperatures can reach into the 90s during the day.

The campground is described as a "great little camping area" and a "great quiet campground," emphasizing a peaceful and less crowded atmosphere. The sites are reported to be spaced out, as one reviewer mentioned that the "sites are not very close to each other," offering a greater sense of privacy and personal space compared to more densely packed campgrounds. This spacing contributes to the overall quiet and relaxed ambiance of Huckleberry Campground.

While the immediate surroundings of the campground are not extensively detailed, the presence of a creek suggests a riparian environment with associated vegetation. The location near Council, Idaho, implies a setting within the broader landscape of west-central Idaho, which features a mix of forests, mountains, and river valleys. The campground likely offers a natural setting conducive to relaxation and enjoying the sounds of the creek.

Essential Services and Basic Amenities

Based on the customer reviews, Huckleberry Campground offers a few key basic amenities:

  • Clean Bathroom: A significant positive aspect mentioned by a reviewer is the presence of a "clean bathroom," which is a valuable amenity for any camping experience. While the type of bathroom (flush or vault) is not specified beyond "clean," it indicates that restroom facilities are available and maintained.
  • Drinking Water Pump: The availability of "A pump for drinking water" is another crucial amenity, providing a source of potable water for campers. This eliminates the need to carry in all water and adds to the convenience of the stay.
  • Creek Access: As mentioned earlier, easy access to the creek via openings in the fence allows campers to enjoy the water for cooling off or simply enjoying its presence.

However, there are also indications of what the campground does not offer. One reviewer noted, "I didn't see any garbage cans, so pack it out," which implies that campers are responsible for managing their own trash and should adhere to a "Leave No Trace" policy. Additionally, another reviewer mentioned the lack of setup lights at another campground, and while not directly about Huckleberry, it's a reminder that lighting at individual campsites might be minimal or non-existent, requiring campers to bring their own.

The campground is noted to be "perfect for smaller trailers and tents," which might suggest that the campsites are not designed to accommodate very large RVs or trailers. The tight circle at the end of the campground, outlined by rocks that are hard to see in tall grass, could pose a challenge for larger vehicles attempting to turn around. This is an important consideration for those planning to bring trailers.
