Indian Lake RV Resort & Campground Introduce
For local residents in Michigan's Upper Peninsula and surrounding areas seeking a picturesque "camping near me" experience centered around a beautiful lake, Indian Lake RV Resort & Campground, located at 202 Co Rd 455, Manistique, MI 49854, USA, offers a compelling option. Combining the amenities of an RV resort with the charm of a traditional campground, this destination provides a range of opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts looking for a tranquil lakeside retreat.
The campground's primary feature, as its name suggests, is its location on the shores of Indian Lake. Reviews consistently highlight the lake's beauty and the enjoyable swimming opportunities it provides. Lakefront camping offers a unique ambiance, with potential for stunning water views, the soothing sounds of lapping waves, and easy access for water-based activities. For local users searching for "camping near me," a location directly on a beautiful lake is a significant draw, promising days filled with relaxation and recreation.
Indian Lake RV Resort & Campground caters to both RV travelers and tent campers. One reviewer noted that the camp lots were spacious enough to accommodate tents and a vehicle, indicating that tent campers will find suitable sites. For RVers, the mention of a "pull-through" site suggests that the campground offers some easily accessible spots for larger vehicles. However, one camper experienced an issue with the hydro at their initially booked site, resulting in a change and an additional charge for the pull-through site, highlighting the importance of confirming site specifics during booking. It's also worth noting that at least one pull-through site was reported to have no shade, which may be a consideration for campers during warmer months.
The campground offers certain facilities to enhance the camping experience. A "recreational hall" is mentioned, suggesting a communal space where campers can gather, perhaps for activities, games, or simply to socialize. Additionally, the presence of bathrooms is noted. While one review described them as "dated," both reviewers agreed that they were kept clean, which is a crucial aspect of campground comfort and hygiene. Local users considering "camping near me" will appreciate the availability of these essential facilities, even if they are not the newest.
Connectivity appears to be a potential challenge at Indian Lake RV Resort & Campground. One reviewer mentioned that both Wi-Fi and cell service were "sketchy." This is a factor for local campers who may need to stay connected for work or personal reasons. However, for those seeking a true escape and a break from digital distractions, the limited connectivity might be seen as a benefit, encouraging a greater focus on the natural surroundings and outdoor activities.
The overall atmosphere of the campground is described as "small" and "quiet" by one reviewer. This suggests a more intimate and peaceful camping experience, which can be particularly appealing to families and individuals looking to unwind away from larger, more bustling campgrounds. The welcoming nature of the camp host, Alex, was specifically praised in one review, indicating a friendly and helpful staff presence that can significantly enhance a camper's stay. Alex was noted for being welcoming and providing necessary information, contributing to a positive experience.
Beyond swimming in the beautiful Indian Lake, the availability of kayaks, reportedly for rent, adds another dimension to the recreational opportunities. Kayaking on a calm lake is a fantastic way to explore the shoreline, enjoy the scenery, and get some exercise. This amenity would be a significant draw for local users interested in water-based activities during their "camping near me" getaway.
The location of Indian Lake RV Resort & Campground in relation to local attractions is also noteworthy. One reviewer mentioned staying there while visiting Kitch-itI-kipi Springs, a popular and stunning natural spring in the area. This suggests that the campground is conveniently located for exploring some of the natural wonders of the Upper Peninsula. Manistique itself is a gateway to various attractions, including the Manistique Boardwalk, the Manistique River, and the scenic beauty of the Hiawatha National Forest.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. It would also be advisable to inquire about site availability, especially during peak season, and to clarify any details regarding site types, amenities, and potential additional charges.
In summary, Indian Lake RV Resort & Campground offers local residents a "camping near me" option with a prime lakeside location on the beautiful Indian Lake. It caters to both RV and tent campers, with spacious sites and the availability of pull-through options. While the bathrooms are described as dated but clean, and Wi-Fi/cell service may be limited, the friendly camp host, the recreational hall, and the opportunity for swimming and kayaking in the gorgeous lake are significant positives. Its proximity to attractions like Kitch-itI-kipi Springs further enhances its appeal as a base for exploring the natural beauty of the Upper Peninsula. For a quiet and scenic lakeside camping experience, Indian Lake RV Resort & Campground is worth considering, and direct contact is recommended for the most up-to-date information and booking.

Indian Lake RV Resort & Campground Reviews
Stayed one night.Camp host was friendly but explained that our initial reservation needed to be changed due to issue with hydro not working at booked site. Was provided a pull through and made us pay the difference (even though was there issue). Pull through site had no shade. It was only one night.Bathrooms are dated but clean.Wifi /cell service was sketchy.Beautiful lake and swimming.Small camp ground and quiet.
Aug 03, 2024 · Kellie GraceMy family and I stayed at this campground when we traveled to see Kitch-itI-kipi Springs. This was a great spot for location and the Camp Host Alex was amazing! She was very welcoming and helped us make sure we had all information needed. They have a recreational hall and bathrooms that are a little dated BUT kept up nicely. The lake is gorgeous and there were kayaks available, I believe for rent. The camp lots were big enough for our tents and vehicle. We will stay here again if we’re in the area.
Sep 15, 2024 · wkdbtch MCLExceeded my expectations, we booked a tent site last minute on HipCamp. We arrived late around 9pm. There was an envelope waiting with detailed directions and a map. We were greeted at our campsite by the staff person who offered us a better site closer to the scenic lake, and firewood. Very pleasant to interact with and helpful. The campground is pretty clean, easy to navigate. There’s a recreation room with games, bathrooms with hot shower, and appeared all the sites have water and electricity. They have WiFi but seemed kind of in and out. I just used my regular mobile service. There is lake access, and is less than 10 minutes from Kitch-iti-kipi.There is a designated grassy section for tent sites with a great view of the lake. The grounds seem to cater more to RVs, and the RV sites appeared to have all the hook ups so if you are an RV traveler this might be good for you as well. The campers seemed respectful to one another and at night was calm and quiet.Overall great experience and would definitely stay here again. Thank you!
Jul 22, 2024 · Daniel McPeek IIWe stayed for 2 nights in our 42 ft motorhome. Nice large site and the lake was beautiful. Very close to the popular Kitch-iti-kipi. Alex was a very kind host and helpful. Only downfall for us was very low water pressure 25 PSI.
Jul 21, 2024 · Elizabeth GiulianiI never leave negative comments but I feel like someone like me would want to know these things. There are apparently more than one set of camp hosts that take care of the campground. The older couple were very nice. However the other camp hosts came in and bombarded my mom when she was at the campsite by herself demanding that we take our tent down that was on our lot (which I was not aware we weren’t allowed to have) three days after we had been at our site and said that I never notified them I had 5 people not four (which I did when I called to reserve) and they need their $1.50 extra a day ASAP. Our lot was very small for a 30 footer and was backed right up to then laundry facilities so there was no privacy what so ever. The campground is a lot of seasonal campers and already have their own sense of community and make you feel like an outsider when coming in. I have been camping all my life and have never felt so uncomfortable at a campground.
