Really nice, quiet campground. Lots of space between rows, so you back up to woods and bushes rather than your neighbor. No campsites are "on the lake" - there is a great paved trail along the lake side, which is on a small bushy rise overlooking the water. We were in campsite 31, which was across the camp road from the path and the lake. It was nice being able to take the dog and walk that trail from the boat launch at the north edge down the the sand beach at the south edge, and then back along the road to the campsites to keep the walk as a loop.If you are camping, the "back" loop of sites away from the lake has some nice sized sites but also has the only dumpsters for the campground there across from site 35. There were also more bugs in that area as it's closer to some marsh. The Van Winkle trail starts at the south edge of the campground, by the small beach, and continues to the next lake to the west, for about a 1.25 mile hike one way. Hike itself is out and back. The beach itself is not large, but is nice and sandy, and there is a bit of playground equipment there as well.We did see a couple of whitetail deer and a number of squirrels. But they were mostly away from the campsites. All in all, I really liked this campground for a "peace and quiet" experience. Not a "fish camp" at all. I would go back for sure, and would probably look at the same section of sites again (27-31).One note: Google seems to think it's a hotel, lots of weird questions about the service and room type. So keep that in mind if weird star ratings are showing. *shrug* - Jack Glazko

Camp Seven Lake Campground Introduce

For local users in Michigan searching within the "camping near me" category, Camp Seven Lake Campground, located at 15706 33 Rd, Manistique, MI 49854, offers a highly regarded and peaceful camping experience in the scenic Upper Peninsula. Based on several positive reviews from recent visitors, this campground provides a tranquil environment with spacious campsites, access to a lake via a paved trail, and various amenities suitable for families and individuals seeking a relaxing outdoor getaway.

The Serene and Wooded Environment

Camp Seven Lake Campground is consistently described as "really nice, quiet," and "peaceful," emphasizing its serene atmosphere. The layout of the campground is praised for having "lots of space between rows," which allows campers to back up to the surrounding "woods and bushes rather than your neighbor," enhancing privacy and the feeling of being immersed in nature. This thoughtful spacing contributes significantly to the overall tranquility of the campground.

While the name might suggest lakeside campsites, reviewers note that "no campsites are 'on the lake'." Instead, there is a "great paved trail along the lake side," situated on a "small bushy rise overlooking the water." This arrangement still provides easy access to the lake and scenic views while maintaining a buffer between the campsites and the water's edge. The paved trail is a significant feature, offering a pleasant path for walking, especially for those with dogs or families with young children.

The campground is surrounded by the natural beauty of the Upper Peninsula, with mentions of woods and a lake environment. Wildlife sightings, such as "a couple of whitetail deer and a number of squirrels," add to the natural charm, although these animals were mostly observed away from the immediate campsites.

One reviewer noted that the "back' loop of sites away from the lake" had "some nice sized sites but also has the only dumpsters for the campground there across from site 35." This is a practical consideration for campers choosing sites in that area, as they will have convenient access to waste disposal but might be closer to any associated activity or potential odors. This loop was also mentioned as having "more bugs...as it's closer to some marsh," which is typical for areas near wetlands, and campers in this section might want to come prepared with insect repellent.

Services and Amenities for a Comfortable Stay

Camp Seven Lake Campground offers several amenities to ensure a comfortable stay. Visitors consistently mention that the "campgrounds and bathrooms were clean and stocked daily," indicating a high standard of hygiene and maintenance. The availability of clean and well-maintained restroom facilities is a significant positive for any campground.

The campsites themselves are described as "spacious," accommodating tents and potentially RVs of various sizes. The presence of a "boat launch at the north edge" of the lake suggests that the campground caters to those wishing to bring boats, although specific details about boat storage or docking facilities are not provided. The paved trail along the lake can be accessed from the boat launch, providing a convenient way to explore the lakeside.

A "small beach" is located at the south edge of the campground, offering a sandy area for swimming and relaxation. The presence of "a bit of playground equipment there as well" makes this area particularly appealing for families with young children, providing a space for them to play and enjoy the outdoors.

For hikers, the "Van Winkle trail starts at the south edge of the campground, by the small beach," offering a 1.25-mile (one-way) out-and-back hike to the next lake to the west. This provides an opportunity for campers to explore the surrounding natural area beyond the campground itself.

The hosts are described as "polite and friendly," with one reviewer noting that their "grand kids could talk to them anytime they went by," suggesting a welcoming and approachable campground management. The fact that "the kids can go anywhere in the campgrounds by bike or walking" indicates a safe and family-friendly environment.

One notable issue mentioned is that "the camp road needs repair desperately." While this does not detract from the overall positive experience, potential visitors should be aware that the internal roads within the campground might be in poor condition.

The small sandy beach with playground equipment caters to families with children, providing a dedicated area for swimming and play. The Van Winkle trail offers a hiking opportunity to a nearby lake, allowing for further exploration of the natural surroundings.

Wildlife sightings, such as deer and squirrels, enhance the natural experience, although they are typically observed away from the campsites.

The campground is described as "not a 'fish camp' at all," suggesting a focus on a more general peaceful camping experience rather than being primarily geared towards fishing enthusiasts, although fishing might still be possible in Seven Lake (subject to local regulations).
