Ingersoll Cove S30 Campsite

Crane Lake, MN 55725, USA

4.0
We spent 4 nights here in Aug 2024. We had two families — 9 total. We liked the Crane Lake location, which was a short drive from the landing (about 15 minutes by boat), but it was a very long boat ride across large waters to travel into the more well known lakes within Voyagers National Park. We enjoyed the views of the private cove and enjoyed swimming off the rocks. We fished — didn’t catch a lot — but a handful of small mouth bass and northern. Tent pads are nearby one another, but not too close. We had enough bear storage. We tried, but never found a trail from our site to Mukooda lake. We had two boats on shore, it worked, but was tight. Be aware of a few LARGE rocks as you’re approaching the landing — straight back from the steps, about 50 ft off shore!!! - Kelly Gleonde

Ingersoll Cove S30 Campsite Introduce

Nestled on the serene shores of Crane Lake, Minnesota, Ingersoll Cove S30 Campsite offers a unique and secluded camping experience for those seeking a getaway immersed in nature. Accessible primarily by boat, this campsite provides a tranquil retreat away from the more crowded areas, making it an ideal choice for local users searching for "camping near me" with a preference for lakeside settings and a touch of adventure.

Ingersoll Cove S30 boasts a picturesque environment characterized by its private cove, offering stunning water views and a sense of peaceful isolation. The rocky shoreline provides opportunities for swimming in the refreshing waters of Crane Lake, allowing campers to cool off and enjoy the natural beauty of their surroundings. Imagine spending your days basking in the sun on the rocks and taking invigorating dips in the clear lake.

For those who enjoy angling, Ingersoll Cove S30 presents a chance to cast your line and try your luck at catching smallmouth bass and northern pike, as mentioned by previous visitors. While the fishing may not always yield a large bounty, the experience of fishing in the calm cove, surrounded by the natural landscape, is a rewarding one. Keep in mind that Crane Lake connects to the larger waters of Voyagers National Park, offering more extensive fishing opportunities, although reaching these areas requires a longer boat ride.

The campsite itself is designed to accommodate tent camping, with tent pads situated conveniently near one another, yet spaced enough to provide a sense of privacy for each group. This setup makes it suitable for multiple families or larger groups wishing to camp together while still maintaining their own space. Ample bear storage is available, a crucial feature for ensuring the safety of campers and their provisions in this natural environment. This demonstrates a commitment to responsible camping practices and wildlife safety.

One important aspect to note, based on visitor feedback, is the absence of a dedicated dock at Ingersoll Cove S30. Campers arriving by boat will need to beach their vessels on the shore. While the shoreline can comfortably accommodate two boats, as reported by a visitor, it's essential to exercise caution, particularly in north winds, and be mindful of potential hazards to boats. Additionally, boaters approaching the landing should be aware of large rocks located about 50 feet offshore, directly back from the steps. Navigating these waters carefully is crucial for a safe arrival and departure.

While one review mentioned an unsuccessful attempt to find a trail from the campsite to Mukooda Lake, it's important for prospective campers to be aware that trail access from this specific site may be limited or non-existent. The primary appeal of Ingersoll Cove S30 lies in its lakeside location and the activities it directly offers, such as swimming and boating, rather than extensive hiking trails originating directly from the campsite.

In terms of services and features, Ingersoll Cove S30 provides a more primitive camping experience, focusing on immersing visitors in the natural environment. While specific amenities like restrooms or potable water sources are not detailed in the provided information, it is typical for such remote, boat-in campsites to have basic facilities or require campers to be self-sufficient. Therefore, it is advisable for those planning a trip to Ingersoll Cove S30 to come prepared with all necessary supplies, including water, cooking equipment, and waste disposal bags, adhering to Leave No Trace principles.

The location of Ingersoll Cove S30 offers a balance between seclusion and access to the broader Crane Lake area. While the campsite itself provides a private and tranquil setting, it is only a short 15-minute boat ride from the landing, making it relatively easy to access for local residents with boats. This proximity allows campers to enjoy the feeling of being away from it all without being completely isolated. However, it's worth reiterating that venturing into the more renowned lakes within Voyagers National Park requires a significantly longer boat journey across larger bodies of water.

For local users searching for "camping near me" who own or have access to a boat and are seeking a peaceful lakeside escape, Ingersoll Cove S30 Campsite presents an attractive option. The opportunity to swim in a private cove, fish in the calm waters, and enjoy the natural beauty of Crane Lake makes it a worthwhile destination. Families and groups looking for a more secluded camping experience will appreciate the layout of the tent pads and the ample bear storage provided.

While there is no specific promotional information provided in the reviews, the inherent appeal of a boat-in campsite on a beautiful lake, offering swimming and fishing opportunities, speaks for itself. The positive feedback regarding the campsite's size and the ability to accommodate multiple boats further enhances its attractiveness for group outings. The mention of the private cove is a significant draw for those seeking tranquility and a more intimate connection with nature.

In conclusion, Ingersoll Cove S30 Campsite on Crane Lake, MN, offers local camping enthusiasts a unique opportunity to experience a serene lakeside retreat. Its key features include a private cove perfect for swimming, fishing opportunities for smallmouth bass and northern pike, spacious tent pads suitable for groups, and the essential amenity of bear storage. While access is primarily by boat and there is no dock, the short boat ride from the landing makes it relatively accessible. Campers should be prepared for a more primitive camping experience and exercise caution while navigating the waters, particularly concerning the offshore rocks. If you are looking for "camping near me" that combines the tranquility of a secluded cove with the beauty of the Minnesota wilderness, Ingersoll Cove S30 Campsite is a destination worth considering for your next outdoor adventure.
