Kaskaskia River Camping & RV Park Introduce
For those in the New Athens, Illinois area searching for "camping near me" that offers a tranquil riverside experience, Kaskaskia River Camping & RV Park, located at 1 Harbor Point Dr, New Athens, IL 62264, USA, presents an appealing option. Situated along the Kaskaskia River, this campground caters particularly to those who enjoy boating, fishing, or simply relaxing by the water. Based on the available customer reviews, it offers a generally pleasant atmosphere, although potential visitors should be aware of certain considerations regarding site suitability.
The environment of Kaskaskia River Camping & RV Park is clearly defined by its proximity to the Kaskaskia River. One reviewer describes it as a "nice relaxing place to Stay," emphasizing the peaceful ambiance associated with the riverside location. The specific mention of it being ideal for "someone that just wants to sit next to the river and relax" paints a picture of a serene setting where guests can unwind and enjoy the natural flow of the water. The campground's location at 1 Harbor Point Dr also suggests potential access to harbor facilities, further enhancing its appeal for boaters. While the overall environment seems conducive to relaxation and enjoying the river, one review notes that the "tent or rustic campsites were not close to flat," indicating that those opting for tent camping should be prepared for potentially uneven terrain. In contrast, the RV sites appear to be more accommodating, with one user successfully maneuvering a large 35 ft fifth wheel with a long truck.
The services at Kaskaskia River Camping & RV Park cater to both RV and tent campers, although the experiences seem to vary. For RVers, the campground appears well-equipped, with one reviewer noting that their large rig "fit just fine" on a site. This suggests that at least some sites are spacious enough to accommodate larger RVs. The availability of "trailer sites" is also mentioned in another review, indicating designated areas for RV parking. However, the experience for tent campers might differ, as the "tent or rustic campsites" were described as "not close to flat," which could pose a challenge for setting up comfortable tent arrangements. The location of the "bock house" (presumably referring to restroom and/or shower facilities) was also noted as being "very far away" from the tent sites, which could be an important consideration for tent campers. Despite this, the host seems accommodating, as the reviewer who found the tent sites unsuitable was offered a stay on one of the available trailer sites. For specific details about services such as water hookups, electrical connections, waste disposal, and the availability and location of restrooms and showers, potential visitors should contact the campground directly at (618) 210-8760 or +1 618-210-8760.
The features of Kaskaskia River Camping & RV Park are primarily centered around its riverside location and its appeal to specific recreational activities. The strong recommendation for "a boater or a fisherman" highlights direct access to the Kaskaskia River as a key feature, suggesting opportunities for boating, fishing, and related water-based activities. The mention of "Harbor Point Dr" in the address further supports the likelihood of nearby harbor amenities. For those not directly engaged in boating or fishing, the campground offers a "nice relaxing place to Stay" by the river, implying a peaceful setting for unwinding. The availability of both RV and tent sites is another feature, catering to different types of camping preferences. However, as noted, the quality and suitability of these sites may vary, with RV sites appearing more consistently level than the tent or rustic sites. The distance of the restroom facilities from the tent sites is a feature that tent campers should be aware of. The willingness of the host to offer alternative trailer sites to tent campers facing unsuitable ground suggests a degree of flexibility and customer service. To understand the full range of features, including potential amenities like fire pits, picnic tables, or recreational areas, direct contact with the campground is recommended.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available within the provided customer reviews. To learn about any potential discounts for local residents, special rates for extended stays, or any packages that might include access to nearby attractions or harbor facilities, interested individuals should contact Kaskaskia River Camping & RV Park directly using the provided phone numbers. In conclusion, Kaskaskia River Camping & RV Park near New Athens, IL, offers a "nice relaxing place to Stay," particularly for boaters and fishermen who can take advantage of its riverside location on the Kaskaskia River and potential proximity to harbor facilities. While RV campers seem to find suitable and spacious sites, those planning to tent camp should be aware that the rustic sites may not be flat and that restroom facilities might be a distance away. The accommodating nature of the host in offering alternative sites is a positive aspect. For local users searching for "camping near me" with a focus on river access and a peaceful environment, contacting Kaskaskia River Camping & RV Park directly is crucial to gather detailed information about site availability, services, features, and any current promotions to ensure a satisfactory camping experience.

Kaskaskia River Camping & RV Park Reviews
Nice relaxing place to Stay. I would definitely recommend this place especially if you are a boater or a fisherman or someone that just wants to sit next to the river and relax. Some sites might be a little tight for bigger rigs. I'm pulling a 35 ft fifth wheel with a F350 crew cab, 8 foot bed. I fit just fine!April 12, 2024
Apr 12, 2024 · Dennis KarlNice RV campground. The tent or rustic campsites were not close to flat. The bock house was very far away. We told the host that it wasn’t suitable for us. She said we could stay on one of the trailer sites. There were quite a few.
Apr 23, 2024 · John HolmesThis small town camping experience was amazing! Picturesque views of the Kaskaskia River! Brand new pavilion with new picnic tables, new on-site bathrooms, fresh rock, newly planted trees, FULL hook up, and 50 amp service! It was an amazing weekend! Take a half mile walk on the levee and don't forget your camera! On the other side of the levee is the town park for the kids with baseball diamonds, a basketball court, swings, sandbox, slides, and much more! Go eat at the Bullpen, Village Pizza, and Machete's. They ALL have amazing food! Dollar General is also in the town. Plan your next camping trip here!
Apr 07, 2024 · Angela LysakowskiWe started camping here this year and are now on our fourth trip back. There isn't a bad spot in the place, it's quiet and right in the river. You can watch boats and kayaks float down the river. This might be my new favorite campground
May 18, 2024 · kelly MayouStayed there in September while working a shutdown. Beautiful little spot right along the river and next to the boat launch. Absolutely enjoyed the stay, the price was great and it was a pleasure talking to the owners when we needed something. Next time I'm in town I will be staying there again.
