Kennally Creek Campground Introduce
For local users seeking "camping near me" in the picturesque landscapes surrounding McCall, Idaho, Kennally Creek Campground, located on Paddy Flat Rd, offers a beautiful natural setting within the Payette National Forest. You can reach them at (208) 634-0700 or +1 208-634-0700 for inquiries. Based on available information, including reviews from fellow campers, Kennally Creek Campground presents a location with significant natural appeal but also some important factors to consider when planning your visit.
The environment of Kennally Creek Campground is consistently described as "absolutely beautiful." Situated within the Payette National Forest, campers can expect to be surrounded by the stunning scenery that this region of Idaho is known for. This likely includes towering trees, potential access to Kennally Creek itself or other nearby waterways, and the tranquil atmosphere of a forested mountain environment. The location offers a genuine escape into nature, providing a peaceful backdrop for your camping experience.
While specific details about all services and features are not extensively available, the customer reviews provide some valuable insights into what you can expect at Kennally Creek Campground:
- Restroom Facilities: One reviewer noted the presence of a "pretty well maintained restroom," indicating that basic hygiene facilities are available for campers.
- No Trash Collection: A significant point highlighted by a visitor is the absence of trash collection services. The principle of "pack it in, pack it out" is strictly enforced. Campers must be prepared to take all their trash with them when they leave.
- Limited Information on Trails: One review mentioned "minimal trails that we could find," suggesting that while the area is beautiful, extensive or well-marked trail systems directly accessible from the campground might be limited. This is an important consideration for those primarily interested in hiking.
- Considerations for Horse Owners: A review explicitly states that the "actual campground is not for horses." Furthermore, it describes a limited and unlevel parking area before the campground that might accommodate only two trailers and is not ideally set up for horse camping. The reviewer also noted limited riding trails in the immediate vicinity. This strongly suggests that Kennally Creek Campground is not a suitable destination for those planning to camp with horses and seek nearby riding opportunities.
- Federal vs. State Campground: Another camper pointed out that Kennally Creek is a federal location, not a state campground. This means that state-purchased park access passes or discounts are not recognized here. Campers should be aware that they may need to pay separate fees as per federal regulations.
Based on the available information, the key features of Kennally Creek Campground can be summarized as its beautiful natural location within the Payette National Forest and its provision of basic restroom facilities. However, it's equally important to note the absence of trash collection services and the limitations for those interested in horse camping or relying on state park passes for discounts.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available for Kennally Creek Campground. However, the inherent appeal lies in its natural beauty and the opportunity to experience camping in the Payette National Forest. Local users might find this campground attractive for those seeking a more rustic and self-sufficient camping experience, prioritizing a beautiful location over extensive amenities.
For local users considering Kennally Creek Campground for their "camping near me" search, it's crucial to weigh the pros and cons based on the provided information:
Pros:
- Beautiful Location: The campground is situated in an "absolutely beautiful area" within the scenic Payette National Forest.
- Restroom Facilities: Well-maintained restrooms are available for campers' convenience.
- Peaceful Natural Setting: Expect a tranquil and immersive experience in a forested environment.
Cons:
- No Trash Collection: Campers must be prepared to pack out all their trash.
- Limited Hiking Trails (Potentially): Trails directly accessible from the campground may be minimal.
- Not Suitable for Horses: The campground is not designed for horses, with limited and unsuitable parking and minimal nearby riding trails.
- State Park Passes Not Recognized: Being a federal campground, state park access passes and discounts do not apply.
Local users who prioritize a stunning natural location and are comfortable with a "pack it in, pack it out" approach might find Kennally Creek Campground appealing for tent or RV camping (within site limitations). However, those seeking extensive hiking trails directly from the campground or planning to camp with horses should consider alternative locations. Similarly, individuals relying on state park passes for cost savings will need to factor in potential federal fees.
To get the most accurate and up-to-date information about Kennally Creek Campground, local users are strongly encouraged to contact the US Forest Service office at the provided phone number: (208) 634-0700 or +1 208-634-0700. It's always best to confirm the suitability of the campground for your specific needs and expectations before making your trip.
In conclusion, Kennally Creek Campground near McCall, Idaho, offers a beautiful camping location within the Payette National Forest. However, local users searching for "camping near me" should be aware of the limited amenities, specifically the lack of trash collection, the unsuitability for horse camping, the potential for limited nearby trails, and the non-recognition of state park passes. By considering these factors and contacting the US Forest Service for detailed information, you can make an informed decision about whether Kennally Creek Campground is the right choice for your next camping adventure.

Kennally Creek Campground Reviews
Actual campground is not for horses. Right before the campground, there's only room for possibly 2 trailers and it's not level. Hitches are set in the back and the parking area is not set up for camping. Trails are minimal that we could find. The area was very beautiful. Not sure if I'll be back due to limited riding trails. We hi-lined the horses.
Aug 31, 2024 · ShonnaLeeLove the location. Absolutely beautiful area. Will be back. However, I do have two items that I wish were different. One, because it's a federal location, not a state campground, the state purchased park access is not recognized and therefore no discount allowed. Two, I wish it had trash collection of some sort. It won't keep me from coming back, but just be aware you pack it in, you pack it out. Does have a pretty well maintained restroom.
