Four Mile Campground Introduce
Are you a local user in search of a tranquil "camping near me" experience? Look no further than Four Mile Campground, nestled in the woods near Cascade, Idaho (83611, USA). Based on feedback from fellow campers, Four Mile Campground offers a secluded and budget-friendly option for those seeking a retreat into nature. It appears to cater to both individual campers and potentially larger groups, with unique features like nearby hot springs and direct access to hiking trails.
Embrace the Secluded Natural Environment: Four Mile Campground lives up to its description as a spot "tucked back into the woods." This suggests a serene and private atmosphere, ideal for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The presence of mature trees likely provides ample shade and contributes to a peaceful ambiance. The campground's location near Cascade indicates access to the natural beauty of the surrounding area, which is known for its forests, mountains, and the nearby Cascade Lake.
One reviewer specifically appreciated the secluded feel of the campground, highlighting it as a favorite during a three-month camping trip. This endorsement speaks to the campground's ability to offer a genuine sense of immersion in nature. The mention of a trail directly accessible from the campsite further enhances its appeal for those who enjoy hiking and exploring the outdoors right from their campsite.
The potential for wildlife encounters, common in wooded areas of Idaho, adds another dimension to the environment. While not explicitly mentioned in the reviews, campers should be aware of local wildlife and take necessary precautions for food storage and safety.
Basic Yet Clean Services and Amenities: While not boasting extensive amenities, Four Mile Campground provides essential services for a comfortable camping experience. One reviewer noted the incredibly affordable price of $10.00 per night, making it a budget-friendly option for local campers. The presence of an outhouse that was described as "very clean" is a significant plus, indicating that basic sanitation needs are met and well-maintained.
Each individual camping spot, at least within one section of the campground, is equipped with a campfire pit and a bench, perfect for enjoying evening campfires and outdoor cooking. The inclusion of a designated parking space for each site adds convenience for campers. Additionally, there is designated parking directly across from the campsite, possibly for overflow or access to the nearby trail.
One reviewer initially noted only four individual spots, but a follow-up comment clarified that while there are at least four individual sites, the campground also features larger group sites capable of accommodating multiple tents. This suggests that Four Mile Campground can cater to different camping needs, from solo travelers or small families to larger groups of friends or family.
It's important to note that based on the information provided, amenities such as potable water, electricity hookups, or restroom facilities beyond the outhouse are not mentioned. Campers should likely plan to be self-sufficient in terms of water and power. The "tucked back into the woods" description might also imply a more rustic camping experience compared to campgrounds with more developed facilities.
Unique Features and Nearby Attractions: Four Mile Campground boasts several unique features that enhance its appeal:
- Affordable Pricing: At $10.00 per night (based on one review), it offers a very budget-friendly camping option for local users.
- Secluded Wooded Setting: Its location "tucked back into the woods" provides a sense of privacy and immersion in nature that many campers seek.
- Direct Trail Access: The presence of trails right off the campground is a significant advantage for hikers and nature enthusiasts.
- Nearby Hot Springs: A notable highlight is the hot springs located between mile markers 16 and 15 along the river, directly across from the campsite. This offers a fantastic opportunity for relaxation and enjoying the natural geothermal waters of Idaho.
- Group Camping Potential: The availability of larger group sites makes it suitable for camping with multiple families or larger groups of friends.
The combination of affordability, seclusion, trail access, and the proximity to natural hot springs makes Four Mile Campground a potentially attractive destination for a variety of local campers.
Promotional Information (General Considerations): As no specific promotional offers were included in the provided information, local users should consider the following general points:
- Pricing: While one review mentioned $10.00 per night, it's advisable to verify the current pricing, as fees can change. Contacting the managing agency (likely the US Forest Service or Bureau of Land Management given the rustic nature) or checking relevant online resources would be prudent.
- Reservations: For a campground with a limited number of individual sites and group areas, reservations might be recommended, especially during peak camping season (summer and fall, given the mention of fall colors). Check if reservations are accepted and how to make them.
- Seasonal Access: The accessibility of the campground could be affected by snow or other weather conditions during the off-season. Inquire about seasonal closures or any restrictions on access.
- Rules and Regulations: Be sure to familiarize yourself with any rules and regulations for the campground, such as campfire restrictions, pet policies, and waste disposal guidelines. Following Leave No Trace principles is always essential when camping.
- Local Amenities: While the campground itself offers basic amenities, Cascade, ID, is the nearest town and would likely provide access to supplies, gas, and other services that campers might need.
Local users might also want to check online camping forums or social media groups for any recent updates or firsthand accounts from other campers regarding current conditions and availability at Four Mile Campground.
Real Customer Insights (Detailed Analysis): The two customer reviews provide valuable and contrasting pieces of information:
- Affordability and Basic Amenities: The first review highlights the low cost and the presence of a clean outhouse, individual campsites with fire pits and benches, and designated parking.
- Secluded Atmosphere: The second reviewer emphasizes the desire for a spot "tucked back into the woods" and confirms that Four Mile Campground met this expectation, describing it as a favorite location.
- Trail Access: Both reviews mention the presence of beautiful trails directly accessible from the campground, a significant draw for hikers.
- Nearby Hot Springs: The first review provides a valuable tip about the hot springs located nearby, adding a unique recreational opportunity for campers.
- Number of Sites: There is a discrepancy in the initial observation of only four individual sites versus the later clarification of more sites, including larger group areas. This indicates that the campground can accommodate different group sizes.
- Navigation Caution: The warning about inaccurate Google Maps directions for a quick exit is crucial for future visitors. The reviewer's experience of a "very sketchy turn around on the side of the mountain" underscores the importance of relying on accurate maps and potentially sticking to known routes. The act of circling the campground on an atlas suggests a strong intention to return despite this navigational issue.
- Entrance Visibility: The comment about the entrance "sneaking up on you" advises future visitors to slow down and be attentive when looking for the campground.
These reviews collectively paint a picture of an affordable, secluded campground with basic but clean amenities, direct access to hiking trails, and the unique bonus of nearby hot springs. The warning about navigation is an important piece of practical advice for potential visitors.
In Conclusion: For local users seeking an affordable and secluded "camping near me" experience near Cascade, Idaho, Four Mile Campground appears to be a promising option. Its wooded environment, basic yet clean facilities, direct access to trails, and proximity to natural hot springs offer a unique blend of relaxation and outdoor adventure. The availability of both individual and group campsites caters to a range of camping needs. While the navigation warning from a previous visitor should be heeded, the overall positive experiences shared suggest that Four Mile Campground is a hidden gem worth considering for your next camping trip.

Four Mile Campground Reviews
It was $10.00 per night, it has 4 individual spots in this particular campground. It comes with an out house which is very clean. Each spot has a campfire pit with a bench and designated parking space. Directly across from the campsite there designated parking as well as a trail you can hike. Between mile marker 16 and 15 there is a hotsprings settled next to the river.
Jul 26, 2017 · Patrick StottsIt was one of my favorite spots from our 3 months long camping trip. We really wanted something tucked back into the woods and this was it. The entrance does sneak up on you as it's just around a bend, but it's worth it to slow down and take a look. There are trails right off the campground that are beautiful as well. Word of caution, our Google maps told us there was a quick way out of the camp to get to the nearest town, but this was not accurate and we had to do a very sketchy turn around on the side of the mountain. I have officially circled this on my atlas and will be returning. Also, another poster said there are 4 sites, the whole campground has significantly more than that, but there are some big group sites that multiple tents could be set up at.
Nov 30, 2023 · Emily BSingle best place to camp on the S.Fork. close to the river, sits on a creek, close to hot springs, but in a low spot surrounded by trees = cooler in summer
