Sturgeon Valley Campground Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me," it's important to have a clear and objective understanding of potential destinations. Sturgeon Valley Campground, located at 15247 Trowbridge Rd, Wolverine, MI 49799, USA, has received some feedback from recent visitors that prospective campers should consider. This introduction aims to present an unbiased overview based on the provided reviews.
Regarding the environment, Sturgeon Valley Campground is situated in Wolverine, Michigan, which is known for its natural surroundings. The campground is presumably located in a wooded or natural area, given its name and general context of campgrounds. One past positive aspect mentioned was "really good access to the river," although a recent review indicates this may no longer be the case. The presence of a pond is also noted, but a recent visitor stated it is "not usable." While the natural setting of Wolverine itself may be appealing, the on-site environment of the campground, according to recent feedback, appears to have some drawbacks.
The services and features of Sturgeon Valley Campground, based on the reviews, seem to be areas of concern for recent visitors. One reviewer mentioned that "the bathrooms have not been updated in decades and they were messy." Another described both bathrooms as "disgusting," noting what appeared to be rodent activity and black mold in the showers. These comments suggest that the hygiene and maintenance of the restroom facilities are currently subpar.
In terms of campsite amenities, one visitor reported that their reserved site had "no picnic table." They later found it broken and lying in the weeds. This same reviewer also observed that "many other picnic tables, benches and equipment which were broken," indicating a broader issue with the upkeep of campground facilities. Additionally, the water pump at the dump station was described as significantly leaking, making it difficult to use effectively.
One positive aspect mentioned was the availability of hot water. However, this single positive point is overshadowed by the multiple negative experiences shared by the reviewers.
One very concerning review detailed an issue with site management, where the camper's reserved site had been given to someone else, and a subsequent assigned site was also occupied. This led to the camper requesting and receiving a refund, choosing to go to a city-owned campground in Wolverine instead. The reviewer also mentioned that the operator of the city-owned campground reported frequently encountering disappointed campers from Sturgeon Valley.
The pricing mentioned in one review was "$40 per night to camp here." Given the negative feedback regarding the condition of the facilities and the management issues, some may find this price point to be high relative to the perceived value and quality of the experience.
Currently, there is no promotional information available for Sturgeon Valley Campground in the provided text. The recent reviews primarily focus on negative aspects of the campground's condition and management.
In summary, based on recent customer reviews, Sturgeon Valley Campground appears to be facing significant challenges regarding the maintenance of its facilities, including bathrooms and campsite equipment. There are also concerns about the usability of the pond and the accessibility of the river, which were previously highlighted as positive features. Additionally, there are reports of potential issues with site reservations and overall cleanliness. While the natural location in Wolverine might still hold some appeal, prospective campers should be aware of the recent negative feedback regarding the campground itself. It is strongly recommended to seek more current information or consider alternative "camping near me" options based on these reviews.

Sturgeon Valley Campground Reviews
I'm sorry to say that this place has gone downhill since we were here last. The bathrooms have not been updated in decades and they were messy. The site we were at had no picnic table. We later found it broken and lying in the weeds in between the sites. There were many other picnic tables, benches and equipment which were broken. The water pump at the dump station was leaking more than you could get into your tank. The pond is not usable. There is no really good access to the river like there used to be. They charge $40 per night to camp here. At least there was hot water.
Jul 30, 2024 · Matt GringStay far away from here! The place is disgusting. Both bathrooms looked like some rodent had been in them shredding toilet paper all over. There was black mold in the showers. The site we reserved had been given to someone else. The next site we were given was also occupied. We asked for a refund and got it. There is a city owned campground in Wolverine. Go there instead. The person who runs it says he gets disappointed campers from Sturgeon Valley daily.
Sep 01, 2024 · MemphisdougThis camp ground is nice! The bathrooms are always cleaned the owners are wonderful understanding people. They always make sure the trash bins are empty, Trails are made when it snows!! The only issue is when it rains potholes are made lol but what do you expect when it's dirt roads an gravel other than that I would say this is the best camp ground for a long term / short term stay! Not sure on the rooms but I can't imagine them being dirty since the camp ground is well Maintenance. 10/10 with this place!!!
Jan 11, 2024 · Mia MunsonI like the accommodations of the private campground. I don't like that hot days the electric goes out or cold days when space heaters are running electricity goes out, because they have not upgraded their electrical. This happened every year for 3 years. Bathrooms are usually dirty with full waste cans. The staff are all very kind and helpful.
Jul 08, 2024 · Kristi BWhat a joke! The brochure they put out for ppl to c it was nothing like that! The bathrooms were dirty, the trash cans available were full, chickens were running around free-watch your barefeet, picnic tables were in bad shape, no riverwalk, tube floating u had to go to town to get them, there's more if u want to try it! We were there for 4 days, oh well! It wasn't horrible but....it's not what they advertised, it's like staying at Sanford and sons! And the store was a bity thing, u ain't getting much-go to town! Which is close, and not enforcing quiet time and it is for sale, older couple own it
